Description

Pulsoreactor The present invention relates to a pulsoreactor whose combustion chamber is provided with an aerodynamic air intake valve. In known pulse jets of this kind, the air inlet to the aero valve is generally directed upstream, so that the inevitable leakage of combustion gas which occurs through the aero valve causes a counter-thrust which is cut off from the propulsive thrust produced by the exhaust of the combustion gas through the ejection nozzle of the device.

It has already been proposed to overcome this drawback by placing in front of the air intake orifice at the valve, and at a small interval, a pipe bent at 1800, the outlet of which is directed on the same side as that. of the pulsejet ejection nozzle. However, this arrangement is not always satisfactory.

The pulsoreactor according to the invention is characterized in that the assembly comprising the aerodynamic valve, the combustion chamber and an ejection nozzle has at least one bend such that the air intake orifice the aerodynamic valve is turned to the same side as the outlet of the ejection nozzle, so that any escape of combustion gas through the aerodynamic valve produces a thrust in the same direction as that produced by the combustion gases out both through the ejection nozzle.

The drawing shows, by way of example, three embodiments of the jet pulsoreactor of the present invention.

The fia. 1 to 3 each represent one of these three embodiments.

Fig. 4 shows a detail of FIG. 3, in projection on a plane perpendicular to that of this FIG. 3.

The embodiment shown in FIG. 1 presents the combustion chamber 1 provided with an aerodynamic valve 2 intended for the admission of air into this chamber in order to maintain the pulsating combustion therein. This valve may be, for example, of the type having annular cups inclined in the direction of flow towards the chamber. At 3 is the rectilinear ejection nozzle through which the combustion gases escape in the form of a high-speed jet, generating a propulsion thrust.

The air inlet 2a to the valve 2 is turned on the same side as the outlet 3a of the nozzle 3, this arrangement resulting from the fact that the end of the combustion chamber 1 is connected to the nozzle 3 by means of a single 180 bend 4, which converges slightly. Between the end of the elbow 4 and the nozzle 3 is interposed a convergent connection section 5, of the same axis as the nozzle 3 and the convergence of which is more pronounced than that of the elbow 4.

As will be understood, it results from this arrangement that the leakage of the gases through the aerodynamic valve at the time of each combustion produces a thrust which is added to that of the gases exiting through the nozzle 3.

In the construction of FIG. 1, the elbow 4 is disposed between the end of the combustion chamber 1 and the rectilinear ejection nozzle 3. However, in a variant, the elbow could be formed by the aerodynamic valve, the combustion chamber 1 occupying then its usual position in the axis of the nozzle 3. The arrangement shown in FIG. 1, where the bend 4 is at the exit of the combustion chamber is however preferable, because at this point the gases do not yet have a high speed and the bend thus occurs with the minimum degradation of energy. gie.

In another variant, the combustion chamber 1 itself could form the elbow.

The embodiment according to FIG. 2 has a combustion chamber 1 provided with an aerodynamic air intake valve 2. The end of the combustion chamber 1 is connected to a 180 elbow 4 of constant section by a converging duct section 6 and between the elbow 4 and the rec tilinear ejection nozzle 3 is interposed a converging duct section 5. Thus the axes of the nozzle and of the valve are parallel and the air inlet to the latter is turned from the side. same side as the nozzle outlet.

Con vergente - divergent nozzles 7 and 8 are arranged respectively along the axis of the outlet of the nozzle 3 and along the axis of the inlet port to the aerodynamic valve 2, these nozzles 7 and 8 function as dilution tubes for the combustion gases escaping from nozzle 3 and through valve 2.

In the embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4, the aerodynamic valve for admitting air to the combustion chamber 1 is of the vortex type. The ejection nozzle 3 is located in the axis of the combustion chamber.

The aerodynamic valve has a snail capacity 9, the side walls of which are provided with two openings 10 of the same axis perpendicular to the axis of the combustion chamber. Between the orifices 10 and the chamber 1 the air passes through divergent nozzles, formed by means of vanes 11, and which convert its kinetic energy into pressure energy. The air is brought to the openings 10 by ducts bent at 90,1 12 arranged so that the air inlet ports to the aero dynamic valve face the same side as the outlet port of the nozzle 3.

The flow of combustion gases through the valve is slowed down by the rotational movement and the speed which are communicated to the gases by the shape of the capacity 9 and by the nozzles formed by the vanes 11 (converging in this direction of travel).
