The object of the present invention is a revU timepiece comprising a hammer with reciprocating movement. This timepiece is characterized by the fact that this hammer comprises two active elements arranged on either side of the member which it is to strike, such that at one end of the stroke of the hammer, the first active element strikes one side of this organ, while at the other end of this stroke, the second active element strikes the other side of said organ.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, three embodiments of an alarm wristwatch which is the subject of the invention.
Figs. 1 and 2 relate to the first embodiment of which they are respectively a partial diametrical section along the line I-1 of FIG. 2, and a plan view of a detail.
Figs. 3 and 4 are partial diametral sections of the second and the third embodiment.
-In the example shown in fig. 1 and 2, the back 1 of the alarm watch carries in its center a rivet 2 used for fixing a bell 3 in the form of a flat cap with a cylindrical rim that 4 over most of its periphery. A washer 5 provides the necessary spacing between the bell 3-4 and the bottom 1 which are con centric. The back 1 of the wristwatch has a substantially cylindrical wall 1a and a flat annular outer rim 1b that a clamping plate 30, screwed into the middle part 31, applies against a sealing gasket 32.
The ring 30 has a re-entrant part 33 which is alone in contact with the back-wall 1a, so that this ring exerts on said wall a centripetal radial pressure which puts the bottom 1-1a under tension and thus increases its sound.
The cylindrical rim 4 of the bell has a re-entrant part with a straight section 4a. The watch movement M is provided with a mechanism, not shown, comprising a hammer holder 6 which causes a striking hammer 7 to oscillate along the double arrow FI in a plane parallel to that of the bell. This hammer is in the form of a stirrup, one branch 7a of which strikes the inner flank and the other branch 7b strikes the outer flank of the re-entrant part 4a of the rim of the bell.
The fixing of the striking hammer 7 to the hammer holder 6 is ensured by a screw 8 in cooperation with a projection 9 of the hammer secured in a recess 10 of the hammer holder.
In a variant, the bell could be smaller and not have a re-entering part such as 4a. There would then remain enough space between the cylindrical rim of the bell and the cylindrical wall 1a at the bottom for the hammer to oscillate freely.
In the second embodiment, which concerns an alarm wristwatch, the Mo movement (fig. 3) is provided, as previously, with a mechanism not shown comprising a hammer holder 12 to which is attached. a hammer 13, all of the parts 12 and 13 being able to oscillate along the double arrow FI in a plane substantially parallel to the back 14 of the watch case. The hammer 13 has a projection 15 penetrating into a housing 16 of the hammer holder 12 to which it is fixed by a screw 17.
The active part of the hammer 13 is in the form of a stirrup with two branches 13a, 13b alternately striking an anvil 18, of conical shape, fixed to the free end of an elastic band 19, the other end of which is riveted at 20 at the bottom 14.
In all embodiments, the bottom 14 of the case has a thickness which decreases from the center to near its periphery, its inner face thus having a flattened conical shape 14a which promotes resonance. In the rest position (fig. 3) the anvil 18 is disposed between the branches 13a and 13b of the hammer, but it does not touch the bottom 14. The outer face of the bottom 14 is flat, so as to facilitate striking signs on the outside of the case.
When the hammer 13 strikes the anvil 18 by oscillating along the arrow FI, the branches 13a, 13b successively strike the conical surface 18 and thus cause the anvil to vibrate along the double arrow F2 in a plane perpendicular to the bottom, so that said anvil in turn strikes the inner conical face 14a of the bottom which produces the sound.
The vibrations of the bottom 14 are transmitted to the wrist of the wearer of the watch.
The alarm wristwatch according to the third embodiment (FIG. 4) comprises a base 14 integrally carrying a stud 35 placed between the branches 13a, 13b of a hammer in the form of a stirrup 13 which is driven by 'an alternating movement following the double arrow FI. This hammer 13 successively strikes the two sides of the pin 35 at each end of the stroke. The general shape of the back 14 and its fixing in the middle part 31, by a clamping ring 30, are similar to those of the first two embodiments.
