Process for the preparation of compounds containing two 1,3,4-oxdiazole rings The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of compounds containing two 1,3,4-oxdiazole rings, which is characterized in that 1.
11o1 of at most weakly colored diacids and 2 llol of MonoacS-hydrazines, the ayl radical of which is derived from an at most weakly colored organic carboxylic acid, which has at least one double bond in conjugation with the 0 = C double bond, dehydrating condensation agents in the way lets act
that the two carboxylic acid groups of a dicarboxylic acid molecule and the TI-N-NII-CO group of two monoacylhydrazine molecules close to form 1,3,4 - oxdiazole rings.
As at most slightly colored dicarboxylic acids, aliphatic or aromatic dicarboxylic acids such as. B. oxalic acid, fumaric acid, maleic acid or terephthalic acid is used.
The ionoacylhydrazines, the alkyl radical of which is derived from an organic carboxylic acid which is at most weakly colored and which has at least one double bond conjugated with the O = C double bond, can be identical or different.
The acyl radical of the ionoacylhydrazines can be derived from aliphatic, aromatic, araliphatic or heterocyclic carboxylic acids. If appropriate, the acyl radicals may not yet contain any color-causing substituents such as halogen atoms, alkyl, alkoxy or carbalkoxy groups.
It is advantageous to use those monoacylhydrazines whose acyl radical is derived from aromatic or araliphatic carboxylic acids of the type specified.
Examples of such acyl radicals are the acyl radical of 4-dialkylamino benzoic acids, such as 4-dimethylamino or 4-diethylaminobenzoic acid, the acyl radical of naphthalenecarboxylic acid (1), diphenyl (4) carboxylic acid, isophthalic acid, terephthalic acid, diphenyl dicarboxylic acid (4,4 ')
as well as the acyl residue of cinnamic acid and p-chlorocinnamic acid.
The monoacylhydrazines to be used as starting material can zen according to known methods from carboxylic acids of the given type or from their reactive derivatives, such as halides, esters or anhydrides, and Hy drazin or its salts, eg. B. hydrazine sulfate.
Substances such as thionyl chloride, phosphorus pentachloride, p-to are used as dehydrating condensation agents, under the action of which the two carboxylic acid groups of a dicarboxylic acid molecule and the H2N-NI-CO group of two 1Vlonoac @ rlhydrazine molecules close to form 1,3,4-oxdiazole rings - sulphurous sulphide and in particular concentrated sulfuric acid which contains dissolved SO3,
that is, oleum of various strengths, and also chlorosulfonic acid. Depending on the constitution of the acyl radicals of the monoacylhydrazines used, sulphonation can be effected in addition to ring closure when oleum or chlorosulphonic acid is used. It is advisable to carry out the reaction in the heat. Optionally, inert solvents, such as. B.
Chlorobenzene or methylene dichloride can also be used.
The two 1,3,4-oxdiazole rings obtainable by the present process, the compounds can be used as optical brighteners for organic substances or as inter mediate products for the production of optical brighteners.
Example 144 parts of oleum (24% SOa) are cooled to 5 and, while cooling and stirring well, 16.2 parts of cinnamic acid hyacid and 5.8 parts of fumaric acid are added in small portions so that the temperature is 20 not over rises.
The mixture is then heated to 60 within 30 minutes and stirred for 4 hours at 60 to 70 and then for 30 minutes at 90. The red-brown reaction mixture is cooled and poured onto ice. - You now dilute with water and neutralize with calcium carbonate in the heat. The calcium sulfate which has precipitated out is suctioned off and the filter material is washed with hot water.
The combined filtrates - earthed with sodium carbonate until the persistent, weak phenol - phthalein-alkaline reaction. After filtering, steams. the clear solution to dryness. The disodium salt of a, f-bis [5-sulfo-styri-1-1,3,4-oxdiazo- lyl (2)] ethylene of the formula is obtained
