Description

Installation for the production of bars of solidified liquid The present invention relates to an installation for the production of bars of solidified liquid comprising at least one mold arranged vertically having an upper opening for the introduction of the liquid from the tines to be frozen, and a lower opening to allow the formed solidified liquid bar to exit, this mold extending through the evaporation chamber of a cold machine,

the lower part of the mold being at least partially surrounded by a circulation space for a hot fluid intended to facilitate, by thawing, the detachment of the bar from the mold.

In known installations of this type, the hot fluid used was hot water, which not only had the drawback of having to provide equipment to prepare and circulate this hot water, but also the drawback of introducing additional heat in the cold machine.

In order to avoid these drawbacks, the installation according to the invention is characterized by an arrangement such that hot working fluid, coming from the circuit of the cold machine, can pass through said circulation space (6).

The appended drawing represents, by way of example and schematically, one embodiment of the installation which is the subject of the invention, as well as variants. Fig. 1 is a fragmentary sectional view of the freezer of this embodiment.

Fig. 2 is a schematic view showing this embodiment.

Fig. 3 is a schematic view of a variant.

Fig. 4 is a schematic view of another variant.

Fig. 5 is a sectional view, taken on 5-5 of FIG. 6, of a variant of the freezer of FIG. 1.

Fig. 6 is a vertical sectional view along 6-6 of FIG. 5.

Fig. 7 is a view similar to FIG. 6 showing another variant of the fillet lateur of FIG. 1.

As shown in fig. 1, the freezer 1 of the installation of FIG. 2 has vertical or green tubular molds 2 at both ends through which the liquid which is to be frozen flows from top to bottom. These molds 2 extend through an evaporation chamber 3 arranged to receive the liquid working fluid from a cold machine. The tubular molds 2 extend beyond the lower wall 4 of the chamber 3 over a small distance and pass through a second wall 5. The space between the two walls 4 and 5 constitutes a heating chamber 6, forming a passage for the liquid working fluid at a temperature above the freezing point.

The heat thus supplied to the lower ends of the tubular molds 2 prevents ice from accumulating in the tubes 2 above the wall 5. A chamber 10 is provided at the upper part of the freezer, which chamber feeds the molds 2 by. distribution orifices with the liquid to be frozen. From the lower part of chamber 3 starts a duct 7 which passes through a float chamber 8 (fig. 2) and ends in an automatic control valve 9 which is connected to an accumulation tank 11 which serves to accumulate. liquid working fluid during the defrost cycle.

The control valve 9 is directly controlled by the float of the float chamber 8 which acts directly on a pilot valve 9 'controlling the flow of the fluid actuating the valve 9 through the conduits 9 ". This assembly allows, during the thawing cycle, the liquid working fluid to flow out of the chamber 3 and prevents the gaseous working fluid from escaping out of the evaporating chamber by passing through this valve 9, while allowing, during the freezing cycle, the reflux of liquid working fluid into the evaporation chamber.

The valve 9 has a balanced shutter member integral with a piston and the pilot valve 9 'is controlled by a float so that when the latter is in its upper position, it establishes a communication balancing the pressures on the two faces of the valve. piston so as to allow a spring to maintain the shutter member in the open position.

When the float descends, it acts on the pilot valve so that the latter opens communication with the float chamber so that the pressure therein acts on the piston to close the shutter member against the action of the spring; the throttle necessary to lower the pressure in the evaporation chamber 3 is interposed between the reservoir 11 and the valve 9.

The accumulation tank 11 is connected at its upper part, by a duct 12 in which there is a valve 13 controlled by a solenoid, to the inlet of a compressor 14 of the cold machine so that the vapors return to this admission of the com pressor. A duct 15, in which is mounted a valve 16 controlled by a solé noid ensures communication between the evaporation chamber 3 and the inlet of the compressor 14. The compressed gaseous working fluid which flows out of the compressor through the duct 17 passes through a condenser 18 in which it is liquefied, then enters a reservoir or receiver 19 in which it accumulates until the required moment.

The conduit 21 communicates the reservoir 19 with the heating chamber 6. A conduit 22, in which there is a valve 23 controlled by a bell float, communicates the reheating chamber 6 and the accumulation tank 11. A another conduit 24, in which there is a valve 25 controlled by a solenoid, provides communication between the conduits 17 and 15, that is to say between the exhaust of the compressor 14 and the chamber 3 of the freezer.

The operation of this installation is as follows: The flow of the liquid and gaseous working fluid during the operation of the installation is indicated respectively by arrows in solid lines and by arrows in dotted lines. During the freezing cycle, the valve 16 is open, while the valves 13 and 25 are closed, so that the compressor exerts a suction in the evaporation chamber 3 through the duct 15 and thus causes the opening of the valve. valve 9, so that the liquid working fluid is sucked out of the accumulation tank 11 into chamber 3.

The quantity of liquid de working fluid which is in the chamber 3 is such that its level is lower than the place where the conduit 15 opens. Under reduced pressure, a certain quantity of the working fluid. liquid work that is in chamber 3 volatilizes. The heat of evaporation is provided mainly by the water which trickles downwards along the ice molds 2 and which then freezes against their walls to form cylindrical sheaths. The gaseous working fluid which is sucked through line 15 to the inlet of compressor 14 is compressed by the latter, then flows into condenser 18 where it is liquefied at a temperature of about 24 to 320 C. The exact temperature depends, of course, on the operating conditions.

The liquefied working fluid accumulates in the receiver 19 as long as the valve 23 does not give it free passage through the heating chamber 6. The supply valve 23 is a valve controlled by a float of known type. , fitted with a bell-shaped float. As long as it is liquid which arrives under the bell, this one does not rise, while if it is gas, the accumulation of this gas in the bell causes the bell to rise which closes a valve so that 'the flow is interrupted and therefore gas cannot pass. A small opening at the top of the bell allows the gas to flow gradually and condense.

Thus, the valve causes the liquid working fluid to accumulate for a certain time in the receiver 19. Then, when the gas has gradually escaped from the bell, the relatively hot liquid passes through the chamber 6, during the phase freezing, the heat which is supplied to the lower ends of the molds 2 by the liquefied working fluid which is in the chamber 6 almost completely opposes any freezing in the lower part of the molds.

At the end of the freezing cycle, the valves 13 and 25 are opened and the valve 16 is closed, so that the hot compressed gas coming from the compressor 14 is introduced into the upper part of the evaporation chamber through the duct. 24. This gas, which is kept under pressure, forces the liquid working fluid from top to bottom out of chamber 3 and through line 7 which brings it into tank 11, while suction is exerted in this reservoir via line 12 to contribute to the transfer of the liquid working fluid and to allow the vapors to escape.

The gas which is introduced into chamber 3 is under pressure at a temperature of about 70 to 900 C depending on the operating conditions and causes, by defrosting, the separation of the ice bars from the walls of the tubular molds which , in this way, are released. The ice bars thus fall out of the molds at the lower ends of the latter. At the end of the thawing cycle, the valves 13 and 25 are closed and the valve 16 is open, so that the suction is applied in the chamber 3 by the compressor 14 through the conduit 15 and the valve 16 in order to suck the liquid working fluid into the evaporation chamber 3 from the tank see 11, after which the freezing cycle is repeated as described above.

In the variant which is represented by FIG. 3, the lukewarm liquefied working fluid coming from the receiving tank 19 is brought by line 27, in which the supply valve 23 is located, directly to the tank see 11. The discharge of the compressor 14 is connected, on the one hand , by a conduit 28, the heating chamber 6, a conduit 29 provided with a solenoid valve 31 and the conduit 15, at the upper part of the evaporation chamber 3 and, on the other hand, by the conduit 17, to the condenser 18.

In this variant, during the freezing cycle, the valves 31 and 13 are closed, while the valve 16 is open, so that the compressor 14 sucks the gas from the evaporation chamber. During the thawing cycle, the valve 16 is, on the contrary, closed and it is the valves 31 and 13 which are open, so that the lukewarm compressed gas first passes through the reheating chamber 6 to thaw the products. lower parts of the tubular ice molds, then towards the top of the chamber 3 to discharge the liquid working fluid and to separate by thawing the ice cylinders from the molds.

By introducing the hot gaseous working fluid into chamber 6, the thawing of the lower parts of the ice bars is accelerated and the heating of the upper ends of these bars is reduced. As a result, these ice bars are quickly cleared without excessive melting of the ice. Thawing in chambers 6 and 3 occurs at about the same time. In the variant of FIG. 4, a duct 35 communicates the duct 24 connected to the discharge of the compressor 14 and the heating chamber 6 located at the lower ends of the ice molds. A duct 36 establishes a communication between this heating chamber 6 and the condenser 18.

During the freezing cycle, the valves 13 and 31 are closed, while the valve 16 is open, and the gas sucked out of the evaporation chamber 3 passes through the valve 16 and through the pipe 15 reaches the compressor 14. The hot compressed gas stream coming from the discharge of the compressor 14 splits, a part passing directly through the conduit 17, to go to the condenser 18. The part of this gas which passes through the conduits 24 and 35 to gain the heating chamber 6 serves to prevent expensive freezing in the lower parts of the molds. Continuing the journey beyond this chamber, the gases pass through the duct 36 to reach the condenser 18. During the thawing cycle, the valves 31 and 13 are open, while the valve 16 is closed.

The gas which is introduced into the evaporation chamber 3 and which comes from the compressor and passes through the duct 24 forces the liquid working fluid into the reservoir 11. At the same time, the gas continues to flow through the duct 35. to the re-heating chamber 6 and through line 36 to the condenser 18. The gas sucked through line 12 from the tank 11 is discharged by the compressor.

The flow of warm gas to the lower ends of the ice molds therefore occurs both during the freeze cycle and during the defrost cycle, the gas flow being suitably proportioned to avoid overheating of the molds. ice cream. Thus, if desired, the flow of heat to the lower ends of the ice molds during the freezing cycle can be such that slight freezing occurs, while thawing occurs during the freezing cycle. de freezing.

The construction of the freezer can be changed so that it has only one bottom wall. In such a case (fig. 5 and 6) the heating of the lower ends of the molds 2 takes place by means of a tube 38 in contact with the lower ends of the tubular molds 2 and arranged above the wall 4. The tube 38 is covered with an insulating layer 39, for example paraffin, to a suitable depth, so that the heat given off by the tubes 38 prevents the formation of ice at the lower part of the molds 2. The heat spreads from the bottom up along the ice cream molds.

The thickness of the insulating layer 39 must not be so great that the freezing takes place too far below the inner surface of this layer 39. Indeed, if the freezing was too deep, the time which is required to clear the ice from the molds would be longer and there would also be excessive melting of the ice in the upper ends of the tubes during the thawing cycle.

The inlet 40 of the hot working fluid can be connected to the duct 21 (fig. 2) or else to the duct 28 (fig. 3) or else to the duct 35 (fig. 4). The outlet 41 is suitably connected according to the construction which is adopted in each case. In the variant of FIG. 7, the tubular ice-cream molds 2 are extended at 42 beyond the wall 4, and the tube 38, in contact with the tubes 2, is placed outside the wall 4 around the terminal extensions 42 of the molds. The insulating layer 39 can be placed between the wall 4 and the tube 38 or else below this tube.

It can even, in certain cases, be deleted.
