Utility ring To reduce the bulk of certain pocket utility devices and to put these devices within easy reach of the hand, it is useful to incorporate them into a ring, also allowing the nature of the utility device to be best concealed. .
The object of the present invention is a utility ring, characterized in that it comprises a hollow ring body, a spring-loaded hinged cover and a cover opening mechanism, combined with a mechanism operating a built-in utility device. , the opening of the cover and the actuation of the functional device taking place by the solicitation of a projecting element which forms part of the mental ornament.
The accompanying drawing shows an embodiment of the object of the invention, consisting of a utility ring serving as a lighter. The lighter reservoir is formed by the hollow ring body.
Fig. 1 is a frontal perspective view.
Fig. 2 is a view with a cover or green, showing the top of a built-in opening and ignition mechanism.
Fig. 3 is a section on 111-1I1 of FIG. 4 when the cover is open and the opening and ignition mechanism removed. Fig. 4 is a view corresponding to the section of FIG. 3.
Fig. 5 is a view from below of the opening and ignition mechanism mounted on an upper plate.
Fig. 6 is a side view of the opening and ignition mechanism corresponding to FIGS. 2 and 5. The utility ring shown comprises a hollow ring body 1 and a spring hinged cover 2. The hollow ring body 1 includes a tubular portion 3, a pair of faceplates 4, and an outer portion 5.
One of the front plates 4 has a fixed ornamental protruding element 6, in a position opposite to a protruding element 7 forming an ornamental part and emerging from a notch in the other front plate 4. This protruding element 7 forms a lever, accessible when the cover 2 is closed, intended to operate the opening of the cover and to actuate an ignition mechanism.
The hollow ring body 1 forms a fuel tank 8, closed by a plate 9, having two tubular accesses 10 and 11. The tubular access 10 is intended for filling the tank 8 and is closed by a plug 12, attached to a chain. , the end of which is held by a ring 13 fixed on a plate 14 disposed above the plate 9. The tubular access 11 provides passage to a wick 15 emerging above the plate 14.
A combined mechanism for opening the lid and igniting the lighter is arranged on the upper plate 14.
The projecting element 7 is integral with a segment of a toothed wheel 16, capable of pivoting about a pin pin 17. One end of a spring 18, the turns of which are wound around the pin pin 17, is threaded into a stud 19, integral with the plate 14. The outside of the turns of the spring 18 forms the seat of the toothed wheel segment 16. The movable end of the spring 18 is threaded into a gouge, placed at the end a groove, not shown, on the upper face of the toothed wheel segment 16, which is pressed against the on the underside of the plate 14, while being held by the end of the spring 18 extending over the underside of the toothed wheel segment.
The toothed wheel segment 16 meshes with a pinion 20 (fig. 6), placed on the lower side of the plate 14, and which is integral with a wheel 21 arranged on the upper side of the plate 14, close to a wick 15. By this overdrive transmission, the speed of rotation of the wheel 21 is increased.
On the outer end of the toothed wheel segment 16 is mounted, in a pivotable manner, a trigger 22, which abuts against a fixing screw of the upper plate 14, and which is capable of sliding by its outer longitudinal face in a slide 23. In this way, the end of the trigger 22 is withdrawn inwards when the toothed wheel segment 16 is rotated, pulling the protruding element 7 outwards. This trigger 22 cooperates with a hook 24 integral with the cover 2, which it retains in the closed position, and which it releases as soon as the pivoting of the toothed wheel segment 16 has started.
The released cover 2 is biased by a spring 25, mounted on the hinge of the cover and the two ends of which rest on the plate 9. This res comes out 25 expands as soon as the cover is released and maintains it in the state. open. On the upper face of the plate 14 is welded a tubular case 26, intended to receive a starter stone 27. This starter stone 27, supported on the wheel 21, is hand held by a spring compressed by a firm ture bayonet.
The opening and ignition mechanism according to fig. 5 is incorporated into the upper part of the hollow ring body 1. The pivot pins are then supported in the hollows of the plate 9 and the whole is held by countersunk screws.
In the relaxed position and when the ring cover is closed, the projecting element 7 completely closes the notch made on one of the front plates 4.
The opening of the cover 2 and the actuation of the ignition mechanism are effected by pulling a finger on the projecting element 7. Pressure on the projecting element 7 has no effect. It therefore offers all guarantees against accidental and involuntary actuation.
The opening and ignition mechanism is thin, so that it takes up very little space in the ring body, the hollow of which forms a fuel tank.
An alternative embodiment of the ring with the same utility device, not shown, is produced by mounting the opening and ignition mechanism between two plates, forming a box, and whose lower plate forms a sealing wall for the tank. The arrangement is then such that sealing elements can be placed on the accessible edge of the hollow ring body 1. Such sealing elements can consist of welding on the edge of the hollow ring body 1 of the edges. free of the box containing the mechanism, or by folded edges, glued by means of a hardening plastic material, such as, for example, a silicone.
The mechanism operating a utility device incorporated in the hollow ring body may be of a quite different nature from a lighter ignition mechanism.
A removable sheet can be applied to the inside of the cover, bearing signs or figures, such as a mini-directory of telephone numbers or a photograph.
The outer face of the cover may be engraved with letters or figures, for example a coat of arms or initials.
The cover, instead of being made entirely of metal, may only be a mounting frame for the attachment of a jewel, for example a stone.
The structure described of the hollow ring body 1, important for its rational, artisanal or industrial manufacture, is not limiting. Another variant consists in forming the hollow ring body 1 from two complementary stamped parts, including the front plates 4 and the outer part 5, divided along a diametral plane of the tu bular part 3, parts which are joined together by one. hard on the outer part 5, and the whole of which is fixed by welding on a tubular part 3.
The two complementary embossed parts can also be divided along a plane passing through the longitudinal axis of the tu bular part 3. The welding of the two complementary parts is then located on the two end faces and on the outer part 5. L 'seems to be secured by welding with a corresponding tubular part 3.
Finally, the hollow ring body 1 may consist of a single piece of injected light metal.
The hollow ring body and the cover are advantageously made of sheet metal, stamped or stamped, which can be plated as soon as the assembly is finished. They can also be made from sheet aluminum or light metal.
