Spray lance The present invention relates to a spray lance, which can be used in particular in arboriculture, comprising adjustment means making it possible to obtain a direct stream along the length or a finely sprayed sheet passing through the intermediate forms.
In the lances used until now, the adjustment is generally made with the aid of a needle cooperating with a conical seat and presenting to its periphery helical channels intended to impart to the liquid to spray a swirling motion. By moving the needle axially so to it away from its seat, the liquid comes out of the lance in the form of a direct jet. However, it has been observed that in this latter adjustment position, the helical channels of the needle hamper the formation of the direct jet.
The spray lance according to the invention makes it possible, among other things, to remedy to this drawback and is characterized by a distributor member arranged between the admission of the liquid to the lance and an outlet nozzle of the lance, and by a spray sleeve mounted in said nozzle and connected to the distributor member by a conduit, this sleeve having windows in its part obliquely relative to < B> in the radial direction and being mounted in such a way in said nozzle that the latter closes an annular space surrounding the sleeve and communicating with the interior of the latter by said oblique slots,
and said distributor member being arranged so to to be moved from a limit position in which it does not allow all the liquid to be taken through said axial duct inside the interior of the sleeve to obtain a direct jet, at another limit position in which it directs all the liquid into said annular space from where it passes into the sleeve through through the slots oblique to exit the lance with a whirling motion.
The accompanying drawing represents, by by way of example, an embodiment of the spray lance forming the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view, partially in section, of this lance. Fig. 2 is a sectional view of a detail of FIG. 1 in a different position. Figs. 3 and 4 are variations of sectional details.
The spray lance shown as carries a cylindrical body 1 , one end of which has a pistol grip 2 in which is arranged a supply pipe 3 for the liquid to spray and the other end of which carries an outlet nozzle 4.
A lever 5 for actuating a valve 6 controlling the flow of the liquid in the cylindrical body 1 of the lance extends adja one hundred to the pistol grip 2 so to can be operated by the hand grasping said grip. This lever 5 is mounted to pivot around an axis 7 fixed relative to to handle 2 and actuates valve 6 </ B> by means of a mobile unit 8 to which the valve stem 6 'is attached.
To this end, the mobile unit wears pegs 9 , one of which is shown in dotted lines and against which rests part of the lever 5, of so that when this is moved towards the pistol grip 2, it rests against the pins 9 and drives the movable crew 8 with the valve stem < B> 6 ' against the action of a return spring 10. The tige 6' is guided in a plug 11 stuffing box screwed into the rear end of the lance adjacent to the pistol grip 2.
A distributor member 12 is arranged between the control valve 6 and the outlet nozzle 4 of the lance. In the event that there is no 6 valve, the distributor member would be placed between the liquid inlet to the lance and the outlet end of this one.
A spray nozzle 13 is mounted in the nozzle 4 and is connected to the distributor member 12 by a duct formed by an axial tube 14. This nozzle 13 has slots 15 made obliquely in its wall with respect to to the radial direction, and is mounted in such a way in the nozzle 4 that the latter closes an annular space 16 surrounding the sleeve 13 and communicating with the interior of the latter via the oblique slots 15.
The distributor member 12 is a plug 17 valve provided with a key with operating handle 18 whose axis is perpendicular to the axis of the bushel, so that it indicates by its position the adjustment of the lance as will be described later. The operation of the described lance is as follows : When using this lance, the 3 pipe is assumed to be connected to a source liquid under pressure (not shown). By pressing on the lever 5, the valve 6 is moved away from its seat against the action of the spring 10 and allows the liquid to penetrate < B> to spray into the cylindrical body 1 of the lance.
If the distributor member 12 is placed in the limit position shown with the handle 18 inclined at a certain angle with respect to to the axis of the lance, all the liquid passes through the axial tube 14 at inside the sleeve 13 to form at the outlet of the lance an elongated direct jet.
When the handle 18 is brought to the other limit position indicated in mixed lines in BB, the valve key 17 is in the position shown to </ B> fig. 2 in which it closes the tube 14 and directs all the liquid into the annular space 16 from where it passes into the sleeve 13 to through the oblique slots 15 to exit the lance with a whirling motion in a finely divided sheet. By moving the handle 18 between the two limit positions described above of the key, one obtains all the intermediate forms of throw at the exit of the lance.
By releasing the lever 5, the valve 6 is brought back against its seat by the spring 10 and the flow to </ B > through the lance is interrupted.
In the variant embodiment of the distributor member shown to in FIG. 3, the valve is replaced by a piston 19 controlled to using an operating handle 20 similar to to < / B> the handle 18, but mounted to pivot around a fixed axis 21 and having an arm 22 to which is fixed the piston rod 19 '.
This piston 19 is placed between the arrival of the liquid in the body of the lance 1 and the inlet end of the tube 14 which is off-center (as shown) , the axis of this piston extending transversely with respect to said lance body. In the position shown, the udder lets liquid to to spray both in the annular space 16 surrounding the sleeve (not shown) and in the tube 14. In moving the handle to a limit position to the left in fig. 3, the piston 19 closes a channel 23 opening into said annular space 16, so that all the liquid passes through the axial tube 14.
When the handle 18 is in the limit position tilted to the right in fig. 3, the piston 19 closes a channel 24 communicating with the tube 14, so that all the liquid passes through the annular space 16. </ B > In the variant shown to in fig. 4, the distributor member comprises a to plug 1T valve, similar to that of FIG. 1, but whose control handle 18 ' extends along the axis of the bushel.
An advantage of the spray lance described, which can be used especially in arboriculture, lies in the fact that it makes it possible to obtain a direct jet without turbulent movement and, consequently, longer than in the usual to <lances. / B> needle. On the other hand, the spray sleeve is fixed, which eliminates any adjustment mechanism with the ensuing wear. It will also be noted that the distributor member is independent of the valve mechanism controlling the admission of the liquid to to be sprayed into the lance.
