Horizontal Turbine Shaft Hydroelectric Unit In horizontal turbine shaft hydroelectric units, two main types of installations are known. In the first case, the current-generating part of the group is placed in an iron casing submerged in the water flow stream. These groups, called bulbs, are generally used for earlier low powers, given that the whole group must be supported in the water flow stream, for example by fixed blades.
These bulb groups are favorable from a hydrodynamic point of view, but have the disadvantage of requiring special alternators or generators, given the difficulty that one has in particular in the evacuation of the calories produced by the normal operation of the unit. . In addition, these bulb groups are difficult to review, given that access to the submerged enclosure is only through small section passages.
The second type of hydroelectric group installation with horizontal turbine shaft most often used is one in which the part of the group, which generates current, is placed in a well dividing the water flow channel in two. veins. In this type of installation, the generator is therefore easily accessible from the top of the well and likewise the calories released during the operation of the unit are easily evacuated, which allows the use of ordinary generators. However, installations of this known type all include masonry wells, requiring large wall thicknesses so that they withstand the high water pressures to which they are subjected.
The present invention relates to a hydroelectric unit of the type of those indicated secondly above, but which is characterized in that the well is formed by a metal casing. Such a construction makes it possible to considerably reduce the thickness of the walls of the well and thus to reduce the width of the water flow channel, which allows better hydro-dynamic efficiency, as well as a smaller overall width. .
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of a hy dro-electric unit according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial section in a vertical plane of the group according to the first embodiment.
The fi-. 2 is a section along a horizontal plane of this first embodiment. The fi-. 3 is also an axial section through a vertical plane of the second embodiment of the group according to the invention. The fis. 4 is a section through a horizontal plane of the second embodiment.
With reference to fis. 1 and 2, the hydroelectric group shown comprises a turbine 1 with the horizontal shaft 2.
This horizontal shaft 2 is intended for driving a generator 3, arranged in a well 4 of the hydroelectric plant.
As shown in the fis. 2, this well 4 is formed by a metal casing 5 of circular cylindrical shape. This envelope 5 divides the flow channel 6 into two water veins 7 and 8.
To obtain better profiling of the well inside the water flow channel 6, a central part 9 made of masonry is connected to the metal wall 5 of the well 4 at its upstream part.
In the example shown in fis. 1 and 2 the turbine 1 is arranged downstream of the generator 3 in a second well 10 allowing easy dismantling of the entire turbine.
Indeed, we see that after removing a tube 11 forming part of the leakage channel 12 of the turbine, it is easy to extract upwards the assembly of the turbine comprising the support blades 13, the distributor. 14, the bearings 15 and 16 and the turbine wheel separated from its ogive 17. After separation of the shaft 2 from the alternator 3, no difficulty arises in extracting said alternator upwards. Of course the alternator can be dismantled independently of the turbine and vice versa.
The metal casing 5 which constitutes the main part of the well 4 can be formed by elements which can be ribbed on their internal wall with a view to their reinforcement.
In the second embodiment represented at the fis. 3 and 4, the hydro-electric unit also comprises a turbine 1 provided with a horizontal shaft 2 supported by bearings 15 and 16. This turbine 1 drives a generator 3 by means of a set of gears overdrive 18. In this case, the well 4 is formed in two juxtaposed parts. In fact, the metal casing 5 is constituted by them vertical metal cylinders 19 and 20 juxtaposed in the direction of the flow channel 6.
The cylinder 19 serves as a housing for the generating part of the group, in this case for the generator 3, while the cylinder 20 serves as a housing for the overdrive assembly 18. A passage 21 is provided between the two cylinders. 19 and 20 for the shaft 22 connecting the overdrive assembly 18 to the generator 3.
The external profiling of the well 4 in the water flow channel 6 can be obtained as in the first embodiment, using a part 9 made of masonry, arranged upstream of the well. 4. As for the guiding walls of the water 23 and 24 between the two cylinders 19 and 20, they can be constituted either by masonry walls or by metal walls connected to the metal casing 5 of the well 4.
As in the first embodiment, the assembly of the turbine 1 fitted to this hydroelectric unit is placed in a second well 10, which makes it possible to easily extract the assembly formed from the turbine upwards. 1 and its distributor 14 after dismantling a pipe 11 forming part of the leakage channel 12.
As a variant, the hydroelectric group according to the second embodiment could very well include two generators 3 arranged one under the other in the cylinder 19, these two superimposed generators 3 being driven from the overdrive assembly. 18 by two opposite trees of the kind of tree 22.
Of course, as a variant of all the embodiments represented and described above, the current-generating part of the group could comprise more than two generators arranged either in the same well or in separate wells, all of these generators. trices being driven by the same turbine.
The metal casing 5 of all these wells. instead of being of circular cylindrical shape, could be of cylindrical shape with a vertical generator moving according to any directrix. Thus, this envelope 5 could have in cross section an oval elliptical or any other shape, allowing a minimum space requirement in the direction transverse to the water flow channel 6, while guaranteeing a favorable hydrodynamic efficiency.
As a further variant, the casing 5, instead of being of cylindrical shape with a vertical generatrix, could be deformed slightly conical, for example.
