Process for the manufacture of two reciprocal parts and copying machine for the implementation of this process The present patent relates to a process for the manufacture of two reciprocal parts, in particular of a die and of its punch, and on a machine for copy for the implementation of this process.
This process is characterized by the fact that one uses, on a copying machine, the same template for the execution of the two parts, and follows this template by means of a feeler of different diameter for each of the two parts, so to produce the desired difference in dimension between them.
This copying machine is characterized by the fact that it comprises a table, movable in two directions, intended to receive, on the one hand, the template and, on the other hand, successively, the two workpieces, this table being on the rise of a feeler and a work tool, all in such a way that by moving the table so that the feeler, in contact with the jig, follows the perimeter of the latter, the workpiece describes a corresponding movement opposite the tool.
The appended drawing illustrates, by way of example, an embodiment of the machine for carrying out the claimed method.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view of the machine. Fig. 2 is a section on an enlarged scale of a detail, shown schematically; and fig. 3 is a section of this same detail, also shown schematically, in another working position.
The copying machine shown comprises a frame 1 carrying a working spindle 2 and a feeler 3 which means not shown make it possible to approach and move away from a table 4. The latter is carried by a smooth neck 5 mounted on the frame 2 by means of balls, not shown, so that the table can move freely in two directions.
This table is intended to receive, on the one hand, a jig 6 and, on the other hand, a workpiece 7 or 8 (fig. 2 and 3). The feeler being brought into contact with the jig 6, it suffices to manually move the table so that the feeler follows all the circumference of the jig, so that the workpiece describes opposite the spindle 2, carrying a milling cutter 9 , a corresponding movement.
The present machine makes it possible to manufacture reciprocal parts, that is to say one of which, male, fits into the other, female, using the same jig. In particular, a punch and its die can be produced in this way. In the example shown, the two reciprocal parts 7 and 8 are simple plates, one of which, the first, has a cutout in which the second is intended to fit very exactly. To obtain between these two parts the difference in dimension required by the tolerances, it suffices to change the diameter of the feeler, which slightly modifies the position of the table when the feeler is in contact with the jig.
By means of this feeler of different diameter, the second part, which will have been placed on the table in exactly the same place as the first, thanks to centering means not shown, can be machined in the same way as the first.
In order to allow a rapid and exact change of the diameter of the feeler, the end 3a of the latter is conical; furthermore, the feeler is mounted on the machine so as to be able to move axially along arrow 10 (fig. 2 and 3) by means of a micrometric screw 11 (fig. 1). By varying the axial position of the feeler, the diameter of its active part in contact with the jig is varied. It should be noted that the perimeter 12 of the template is inclined so as to ensure contact with the feeler along a generator of the latter and not at one point only.
The difference in diameter of the feeler must be determined taking into account the prescribed tolerances between the two reciprocal parts, as well as the diameter of the cutter which works, in one case, an inner part and, in the other case, a exterior room.
Instead of a conical feeler, movable axially, which has the advantage of allowing a continuous variation of its diameter, the machine could include a set of feelers of different diameters, interchangeable.
