Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 Device for converting vibrations of a mechanical oscillator into a rotary movement for driving a clockwork. When a clockwork is driven by a mechanical oscillator, there are various possibilities for designing the device, which converts its oscillations into rotary motion. It seems to be easiest to drive a ratchet wheel by a movable pawl and to provide a pawl that prevents the ratchet wheel from moving backwards when the pawl moves backwards. However, such a mechanism cannot always be used.

   If the ratchet wheel has 200 to 400 teeth and its diameter is less than 5 mm, it is extremely difficult to arrange the two pawls so that correct switching is always guaranteed. If one realizes that the mechanical oscillator can change its central position for any reason, for example as a result of a blow, one sees that such a device having two pawls is unusable.

  The device of the present invention is now characterized in that it has a ratchet wheel, a friction element connected to the mechanical oscillator and an elastically pivotable pawl which engages in the teeth of the ratchet wheel, the braking forces being generated by the friction element and exert the pawl on the gear train, are greater than the inertial forces of the gear train.

  In the following, two exemplary embodiments are described with reference to a drawing, namely FIG. 1 shows the first and FIG. 2 parts of the second exemplary embodiment.

  In Fig. 1, 1 denotes the mechanical oscillator, which can be, for example, a tuning fork of a tuning fork transmitter. The grater, which consists of a steel lamella 2 and a ruby plate 3 glued to it, is attached to it. The steel lamella 2 presses the ruby plate against the teeth of the ratchet wheel 4, which sits on the drive shaft 5 of the clockwork to be driven. A leaf spring 7, which is held on part of the clockwork and the tip of which bears a ruby 8, serves as a pawl.

   So that the shaft 5 can be driven at a constant speed at a constant frequency of the oscillator 1, which oscillates in the direction of the arrow 10, 1'0 ', the friction element formed from parts 2 and 3 must be at such a point of the mechanical oscillator 1 must be attached so that twice the amplitude of the ruby plate 3 resting on the ratchet wheel 4 is approximately 11/2 times the tooth pitch in the tangential direction.

   During the backward movement of the grater, i.e. during the movement

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 in the direction 10 ', the friction and the pawl exert a braking force on the gear train that is greater than the inertial forces of the ratchet wheel 4 rotating in the direction of arrow 9 and the rest of the gear train, so that it is stopped and turned back again, until a tooth of the ratchet wheel is on the pawl. As a result, it is switched forward by one tooth step for every complete oscillation of the oscillator.

  Instead of the ruby plate 3, a coating made of another material, for example a plastic, can also be used.

  2 shows a further Ausfühz-Lings- example, in which the same parts are denoted by the same reference numerals, while the spring i 7 attached to a part 6 of the clockwork and provided with a ruby 8 has been omitted in the figure. The only difference compared to the first example is that the friction, which here only consists of the lamellar spring 2 attached to the oscillator 1, acts on a friction wheel 10 that is firmly connected to the ratchet wheel 4 or to the shaft 5. Here too, of course, the same force and friction conditions must be present as in the first exemplary embodiment.

  In both exemplary embodiments, it is also useful if the natural frequency of the friction is greater than the natural frequency of the mechanical oscillator. For example, it can be more than twice the natural oscillation of the mechanical oscillator.
