Description

  On décrira ci-après, à titre d'exemple, deux  formes d'exécution de l'appareil faisant l'objet  de l'invention, en se référant au dessin     annexé,     dans lequel    la     fig.    1 est une vue schématique en  perspective de la première forme d'exécution  de     l'appareil,    qui convient pour former des fils       mixtes    ayant des     fibres    en     brins    réparties uni  formément sur toute leur longueur;  la     fig.    2 montre une section transversale  par la ligne 2-2 de la     fig.    1 ;

Apparatus for the manufacture of a mixed yarn The present invention relates to an apparatus for the manufacture of a mixed yarn containing continuous filaments and staple fibers.

By filaments, is meant in this description continuous fibers, such as for example uncut artificial fibers, such as nylon, and by fibers in strands, short fibers such as cotton fibers, wool fibers or else fibers. artificial fibers cut to length in strands.

The apparatus object of the invention, comprising means for providing a stretched ribbon of stranded fiber material, means for bringing said ribbon into contact with a yarn formed of several continuous filaments, and means for twisting together said yarn and said ribbon, is characterized by means for spatially separating the individual filaments of said yarn, so that its filaments are spatially separated from each other as they are brought into contact with the strand fiber material.

  Two embodiments of the apparatus forming the subject of the invention will be described below, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which FIG. 1 is a schematic perspective view of the first embodiment of the apparatus, which is suitable for forming mixed yarns having strand fibers uniformly distributed over their entire length ;  FIG. 2 shows a cross section taken through line 2-2 of FIG. 1;

fig. 3 is a schematic perspective view of the second embodiment, which can be used either for the manufacture of coiled mixed yarns or for that of mixed yarns in which the stranded fiber material is evenly distributed over the yarn. wire length; Fig. 4 is a cross-sectional view taken on line 4-4 of FIG. 3.

Referring particularly to Figs. 1 and 2, reference numeral 10 indicates a yarn supply package such as a cone, skein, bobbin or the like, providing a continuous multifilament yarn of a kind which can be given a static electric charge. . A drill guide 12 is disposed above the supply package 10 so that a piece of wire or wick 13 can be easily unwound without entanglement.

Immediately below the guide 12 is a tension device 14, which comprises a pair of disc tension members between which the thread is passed, so that it is under tension in the direction. tion of its course which immediately follows.

16 is an electrifying device so that it can give a static charge to the wire 13. This device comprises a shaft 18, supported so as to be able to turn, at each of its ends, by antifriction pads 20 and 22, and which can be rotated. set in rapid rotation by means of an electric motor 24 which actuates it by a control shaft 26. In diametrically opposed grooves and extending longitudinally in the shaft 18, are fixed two members 28 and 30 (see Fig. 2) in the form of blades adapted to make frictional contact with the wire 13 and give it a static load when the shaft 18 rotates under the action of the motor.

These protruding blades 28 and 30 may be of any material other than that of the wire, but preferably of a material widely separated, in the tribo-electric series, from the composition of the wire 13. Behind the device 16 is a bench. drawing generally designated by the reference numeral 32, three-part, and comprising a rear pair of rollers 34, an intermediate pair of elements 36, and a delivery pair 38.

The draw bench 32 can be and preferably is of the type generally found in an ordinary spinning machine, and although the intermediate elements have been shown for convenience as comprising only a pair of rollers, it is of course. A stretching bench, in which the intermediate members comprise a pair of traction belts, or the like, may also be suitably employed. In this embodiment of the apparatus, the draw bench is operated in the ordinary manner, the three elements meshing together, and the intermediate elements as well as the delivery rollers being controlled so as to have a higher circumferential speed. larger than the rear elements of the bench.

In front of the drawing bench 32 is a drill guide 40 arranged to receive a drill bit coming from the drawing bench and to guide it towards a twisting apparatus 42. The apparatus 42 comprises a spool 44 mounted so as to to be able to rotate and to collect the yarn into a mass indicated at 46. This apparatus also includes an ordinary spinning ring 48 which carries a slider 50 mounted to rotate around the spool 44 in known manner while the yarn is twisted and wound on the spool. coil.

A source 52 of stranded fibrous material is disposed behind the draw bench 32, which source may consist of a spool, a can or the like. The stranded fibrous material, in ribbon form, passes from source 52 to the rear rollers of stretching bench 32 in the ordinary manner.

It can be seen from the foregoing that the apparatus described above can be easily obtained starting from an ordinary spinning machine by simply adding to it the device 16 and the motor 24 actuating the latter. The apparatus described above can likewise be obtained starting from an ordinary twisting machine, except that in this case it is necessary to provide the machine with stretching rollers.

In operation, a wire or wick from the package 10 is threaded through the guide 12 and the tension device 14, then passed around the electrification device 16. The wire then passes from top to bottom between the upper roller of the pair of delivery rollers and the intermediate elements of the draw bench, then back between said delivery rolls, to go to the drill guide 40 and the spindle 42. A piece of tape is fed from the source 52 to the elements rear of the draw bench 32, from where it is passed through the draw bench in a known manner.

The motor 24 is then put into action, resulting in a frictional contact of the blades 28 and 30 with the wire 13; the twisting apparatus 42 and the drawing bench 32 are then actuated.

As the wire 13 passes around the electrification device 16, it is alternately tensioned and released due to the rotation of the shaft 18 and the eccentric protrusions of the blades 28 and 30. At the same time, the filaments of the wire 13 are electrified by the friction contact with the blades 28 and 30, and thus acquire mutual repulsion. During periods when the yarn is in a relaxed state, the filaments separate from each other due to their mutual repulsion, and enter between the delivery rollers in this spaced state.

The wick end 53 also enters between the rollers of the delivery pair 38 in a sliver-like state because it has been stretched between the rear pair of rollers and the intermediate members of the draw bench 32, and when the open web of fibers comes into contact with the separated filaments of the yarn 13, the fibers are partially forced between the fila ments by the pressure of the pair of delivery rollers. After leaving the pair of delivery rolls, the filament yarn is immediately subjected to twisting to lace or twist the strand material along and between the filaments and secure them therein in position.

In the embodiment of FIGS. 3 and 4, the reference numeral 60 indicates a yarn supply package such as a cone, bobbin, skein, etc., delivering a multi-filament yarn of a kind to which it is possible to give static charge. A drill guide 62 is disposed above the supply package 60 so that a piece of wire or wick 63 can be easily unwound, and immediately below the guide 62 is a tension device 64, comprising a pair of disc tension members between which the wire 63 is made to pass, so that it is under tension in the section of its course which immediately follows.

Since the yarns are more apt to take a static charge when in a dry state, this embodiment is provided with means for drying the yarn. For these purposes, the apparatus comprises a fan 66, adapted to send air through a duct 68 and thence through a number of short tubes, one of which is shown at 70, in position on the path of the wire 63. The fan is operated by an electric motor 72, connected by electric conductors 74 to a source of electric force.

In order for the air distributed through the duct 68 to be at a higher temperature than the air in the chamber, and therefore capable of exerting a greater drying effect, a section 76 of the duct connecting the fan 66 to conduit 68 is provided with resistance heater elements indicated at 78. These elements are connected to a suitable source of electricity by conductors 80. A single switch 82 is used to control the electric motor 72 and the switches. heating elements 78.

Tube 70 is shown to be located in the path of the wire immediately below and in front of the device, under tension and is arranged to receive wire 63 which passes through an orifice 84 in hose 68. To avoid the use of wire. a threading tool, the tube 70 and the hose 68 are provided with a narrow slot 86, so that the thread can be simply pulled into its own flow path.

Reference numeral 88 denotes an electrifying device for imparting a static charge to the multifilament yarn. The device 88 comprises a shaft 90 which can be put into rapid rotation by an electric motor 92. In a suitable groove of the shaft 90, and extending longitudinally over a portion thereof, is disposed a friction element. or blade 94, adapted to make frictional contact with the wire 63 and give it a static charge. As already explained, the blade 94 is preferably made of a material well separated, in the triboelectric series, from the composition of the wire 63.

Since the multifilament yarn 63 should only come into contact with the blade 94 when desired, an arcuate protective plate, or shield, 96 is provided. This shield 96 is mounted so that it can rotate about the axis. of shaft 90, so that it can be pivoted to a position in which it keeps wire 63 out of contact with blade 94, or to a position in which it is completely out of contact with wire , as is clearly shown in fig. 4. Behind the device 88 is a three element draw bed 98, having a pair of rear rollers 100, a pair of intermediate rollers 102, and a pair of delivery rollers 104.

The draw bed 98 is preferably of the kind generally found in an ordinary spinning machine except that in said embodiment the pair of delivery rollers are operated independently of the other elements of the bed. 'drawing. The means for actuating the delivery rollers 104 comprise a shaft 106 and an electric motor 108. The electric motor 108 directly controls the shaft 106; however, it will be noted that FIG. 3 is only schematic and that a suitable gear train may be provided to reduce the rotational speed of the delivery rollers 104 to a suitable size.

The electric motors 108 and 92 are connected in parallel by electric conductors 110 and 112, and actuated by a single switch 114, since it is desirable that both motors be on while the apparatus is in use. .

The pairs of rear and intermediate rollers 100 and 102 of the draw bench 98 are adapted to be able to be employed either for the insertion of a strand of fibers in the multiple filament yarn 63 or for the continuous supply of the yarn. fiber material to the yarn 63, while the latter is led from the device 88 over the upper roller of the pair of rollers 104 and back, between the two rollers. The fiber material is provided in the form of a sliver of stranded fibers, a suitable source thereof being indicated at 116, in the form of a spool, bobbin or the like.

A line 118 from the source 116 is fed between the rollers of the rear pair 100 of the stretching bench 98 and passes from there to the pair of intermediate rollers in the ordinary manner.

Separate means actuate the two pairs of rear rollers of the draw bench 98, since in the production of coiled yarns the operation of these elements must be intermittent; these actuating means comprise a rotating shaft 120, extending from the pair of rear rollers 100 to an electric motor .122. Although the connection is shown, in fig. 3, as being direct, suitable reduction gears are provided so that the rollers of the pair 100 are driven at a suitable speed.

The pair of rollers 102 is actuated from the shaft 120 by a toothed wheel 124, an idler toothed wheel 126, a toothed wheel 128 and a shaft 130. As in an ordinary operation, the rollers of the pair 102 must be controlled. at a speed greater than that of the rollers of the pair 100 so that stretching of the wick 118 occurs between the two pairs of rollers.

In front of the draw bed 98 is a drill guide 132 which is adapted to receive the yarn 63 after it has left the pair of rollers 104. Immediately below the guide 132 is located a pin device. ordinary spinning or twisting 134, which comprises a spindle 136 on which is placed a spool 138 able to receive a certain quantity of thread 140. An ordinary spinning ring with rotary slider 144 is also part of the device 134.

The spindle 136 is set to be actuated in the ordinary fashion by contact of a pulley 146 with a belt 147 wrapped around a pulley 148 driven by the motor 108 through a toothed wheel 149 on it. 'shaft 106, toothed wheels 150 and 151 on a shaft 152, toothed wheels 153 and 154 on a shaft 155 and a toothed wheel 156 on a shaft 157 which carries the pulley 148. It should however be understood that the drawing does not necessarily represent the actual arrangement of gears to operate the spindle torsion device 134, but should only show that the pair of front rollers 104 of the draw bench 98 and the torsion device 134 are operated by a common source of energy.

158 is a source of electrical pulses of a frequency preferably left to chance. The pulses from source 158 are supplied, on the one hand, through conductors 160, to a solenoid 162 having a core of ordinary shape and construction. The core 164 is connected by a cable 166 to a spring 168, one end of which is fixed to a suitable support. The cable 166, between the core 164 and the spring 168, is wound in one or more turns around a cylindrical member 170 which is disposed coaxially with the shaft 90 and operatively connected by an arm 172 with the shield 96.

The cable 166 has a length such that the spring 168 normally holds the core 164 partially outside the solenoid 162 when the latter is not receiving current, and the relative position of the member 170 with respect to the cable 166 is such that , when the solenoid is not receiving current, shield 96 is in a position such that contact of wire 63 with blade 94 is prevented. When current is sent to solenoid 162, core 164 is moved against the action of spring 168, which causes shield 96 to rotate to allow wire 63 to contact blade 94. .

Electrical pulses from source 158 are also transmitted through conductor 174 to an electronic delay device 176 of a known type. This device is adapted to be put into action by the pulse received by the conductors 174, and to send, after a certain chosen time, sufficient to allow the passage of a point of the wire 63 of the device 88 to the pair of rollers. delivery 104 from the draw bench 98, an electrical pulse through the conductors 178 to the motor 122. The electronic delay device is preferably adjusted such that the delayed pulse sent to the motor 122 ends simultaneously with the pulse. sent to solenoid 162 by conductors 160.

From what has been said, it emerges that the second embodiment of the apparatus described can also be constructed starting from an ordinary spinning machine, by simply adding the device 88 to it, the yarn drying device comprising the fan 66 and the pipe 68, and the tensioning device 64. The spinning machine must be modified only by disconnecting the two pairs of rear rollers of the drawing bench with which the spinning machine is provided, from their means of ordinary actuation, while allowing the pair of delivery rollers to continue to be actuated in the ordinary manner by the motor which operates the spinning spindle.

A separate motor supplied through a source of electrical pulses and an electronic delay device is then arranged to actuate the rear elements of the draw bench. The described apparatus may similarly be constructed starting from an ordinary twisting loom, except that in this case it is necessary to provide the loom with draw rollers.

To manufacture coiled yarns, a yarn or wick coming from the package 60 is threaded through the guide 62, the tension device 64, then is introduced through the slot 86 into the tube 70. The end of the yarn is then passed around the device. 88, then over and between the pair delivery rollers 104 of the draw bench 98, and then, through the guide 132, to the spindle device 134. A ribbon of stranded fibrous material is led from the bundle 116 between the rollers of the rear pair 100 and the rollers of the center pair 102 of the draw bench 98.

The apparatus is then ready to operate and the switch 82 can be closed to operate the fan 66 and heat the resistance elements 78. After a few moments to allow the resistance elements to heat up and at the end of the wire in the tube 70 to be thoroughly dried, switch 114 can be closed to operate motors 108 and 92, and electrical pulse source 158 can be actuated to intermittently supply current to motor 122 and to solenoid 162.

The electrical impulse produced by source 158 is transmitted simultaneously to solenoid 162 and electronic delay device 176. Core 164 is immediately pulled down so that member 170 is rotated to move shield 96. and put it in the inactive position, so that the wire 63 comes into contact with the blade 94 which turns rapidly. The contact between the blade 94 and the wire 63 causes the filaments of the wire 63 to acquire a same charge so that they present mutual repulsion to each other and tend to separate from each other as widely as possible. .

Blade 94 and shaft 90 also contribute to the successful operation of the new apparatus in several other respects. First, the blade, rotating in the direction opposite to the advancing movement of the wire 63, tends to retain the twist back and also to produce a taping effect so that the filaments of the wire 63 are encouraged to pass through the gripper. delivery rollers 104 being parallel and spaced apart. In addition, the eccentric protrusion formed by the blade 94 on the shaft 90 acts to alternately tension and release the wire 63.

These periods of slack allow the filaments of the wire 63 to separate to a maximum degree that would not be possible if the wire were under continuous tension, while the periods of tension make possible adequate frictional contact of the wire 63 with the blade. 94.

A pre-chosen time after the pulse produced by the source 158 has reached the delay device 176, the pulse is transmitted to the motor 122 which starts the two rear elements of the draw bench 98. The rotation of these rollers brings the tape 118 between the rolls of the pair 104 where it is pressed into contact with the separated filaments of the yarn 63 and intertwines along the filaments of the yarn to leave in this state the delivery rollers 104 and be twisted by the device spindle 134. Since the rolls of pair 102 rotate at a greater speed than rolls of pair 100, tape 118 is stretched and the fibers thereof are stretched and taped in the ordinary manner.

If desired, the pair of rollers 104 can be driven at a speed greater than either of the rear members of the draw bench so as to produce further stretch and taping between the pair of rollers 102 and the pair of rollers 104. The stretching of the tape 118 as it passes through the draw bench 98 is important because it allows a more equal mixture of the fibers in the yarn 63 and allows the fibers to be better hooked between the individual filaments of yarn 63 as the yarn leaves delivery rollers 104 and is twisted by spindle device 134.

After a pre-selected time interval, the electrical pulse supplied by source 158 ends. A consequence of this completion of the pulse from source 158 is that core 164 is pulled up from solenoid 162 by spring 168, which causes member 170 to rotate and shield into position. 96 so that the wire 63 is no longer in contact with the blade 94. This allows the torsion which has accumulated above the positive device 88 to pass and then be evenly distributed in the wire 63 in its path. up to the torsion device 134. The cessation of the pulse from the source 158 also has the effect of stopping the current going to the motor 122 and putting in action the pair of rollers 100 and the pair of rollers 102. .

As the pair of rollers 104 continue to work, the tape 118 is broken between the pair of rollers 104 and the pair of rollers 102 and the driven end binds into the wire 63. This completes the cycle and the apparatus continues to operate. only as a twist craft, until a new electrical impulse is sent from source 158.

For the production of yarns in which the strand fibers are regularly spaced along the filament yarn, the apparatus shown in figs. 3 and 4 is used exactly as described above, except that the source of electrical pulses 158 and the electronic delay device 176 are positioned or bypassed so as to provide a continuous supply of current to the solenoid 162. and to engine 122.

The continuous operation of the motor 122 causes the rear members of the draw bench 98 to provide for a continuous and even supply of strand fibers to be interlaced in the yarn 63, while the continuous magnetization of the solenoid 162 has the effect of shield 96 is retained in the inactive position all the time, so that wire 63 is evenly electrified as it is fed to delivery rolls 104 of draw bench 98.
