Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 Anchor lift for a timepiece and method of manufacturing this lift The present patent relates to an anchor lift for a timepiece and a method of manufacturing this lift.

  Until now the anchor lifts were made of sapphires or other corundum stones, glued with shellac in passages made in the anchor, so that their positions can be adjusted at any time and at will. by moving them forward or back.

  While these lifts are entirely satisfactory from a mechanical point of view, their lubrication poses problems which have not yet been satisfactorily resolved. Passing over the impulse face, the teeth of the anchor wheel have a tendency not only to remove the oil from it, but to prevent the oil which could remain on this impulse face from coming back into the path. passage of the teeth of the anchor wheel.

  The object of the invention is to eliminate this problem of lubricating the anchor lifts by using for their manufacture a plastic material which can work without oil.

  In fact, several plastics are already known which are used for this purpose, however in devices or machines of relatively large dimensions.

  However, it is not possible to manufacture lifts of the same shape as the known lifts of synthetic stone (corundum), because such lifts would not initially offer the desired rigidity and, moreover, could not be adjustable in an adjustable manner. anchor.

  The lift according to the invention has the desired rigidity, since it comprises a metal body and a plastic cover intended to come into contact with the escape wheel without requiring lubricant.

  The manufacture of this lift is done by molding said plastic cap on the metal body.

  As plastic, the product sold on the market under the name Ultramid A (registered trademark) by the limited company Badische Andin & Soda-Fabrik in Ludwigshafen is preferably used. This product belongs to the class of polyamides and it results from the condensation of a diamine and a diacid. This product, linearly polymerized, is then molded hot and under pressure on the metal body.

  The accompanying drawing shows two embodiments of the lift according to the invention. Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the first example, showing the lift in place on an anchor shown partially; fig. 2 is a section of the lift of FIG. 1, and

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 fig. 3 is a perspective view similar to that of FIG. 1, of the second example.

  The lift shown in fig. 1 comprises a metal body 1, preferably steel, the end 2 of which has smaller dimensions than the rest of the body 1, while having a cross section of shape approximately similar to that of the rest of this body. This is engaged like a usual lift in a groove 3 made in an anchor 4, so that the position of the lift can be adjusted at will at any time, by moving the body 1 longitudinally in one direction or in the other inside this groove 3.

  Part 2 of body 1 is covered with a cap 5 of Ultramid A. As can be seen in this fig. 1, the cover 5 comes flush with the solid rear part of the body 1. Since said material of the cover 5 does not adhere to the steel of the body 1, a transverse hole 6 is drilled through the part 2 of this body. As the cover 5 is molded in place on the body 1, the material constituting this cover fills the hole 6 and forms a bar 7 (fig. 2) formed in one piece with the two opposite side walls 8, 9 of the cover 5.

  To mold the material of the cover 5 in place on the body 1, the latter is preferably placed in a mold, not shown, having, for example, three fixed walls, intended to form the two side faces 8 and 9 of the cover, as well as the impulse face 10 thereof, and two movable walls intended to form the lower 11 and upper 12 faces (FIG. 2) of the lift, these movable walls of the mold being able to be approached one by one on the other by means of a screw arranged so that said walls develop a pressure approximately equal to 90 kg / mm2 on said plastic material, the latter being cast in the mold at a temperature preferably equal to 275 ° C. .

  The mold could also include only one mobile wall, for example that intended to form the upper face 12 of the cover or the lateral face 9.

  The or both mobile faces of this mold are naturally placed at a predetermined distance from their final positions, when the plastic material is cast in place inside the mold. Said face or faces are then moved with the aid of said screw, to generate said pressure on the plastic material until the moment when this or these movable walls of the mold arrive in their final positions.

  We can see in fig. 1 that the plastic bar which passes through part 2 of the body 1 holds the cover 5 in place on it very firmly, although the material of the cover 5 does not adhere at all to the steel of the body 1. It should be further noted that Ultramid A contracts more than steel as it cools, so that the attachment of the cap 5 to the body 1 is all the more firm. Furthermore, given that the cap 5 is relatively thin, it will nevertheless have sufficient rigidity, thanks to the support constituted by the body 1, and despite the plastic material of this cap itself being relatively soft.

  Moreover, experience has shown that this material offers a resistance that is quite large enough not to be worn by the passages of the teeth of the anchor wheel.

  Instead of drilling a hole through part 2 of body 1 to secure the cap 5 on this body, we could naturally also make a groove all around part 2 or even only in one face thereof. . Under the action of the pressure exerted on the material of the cover 5 during its molding, this material would fill said groove and the fixing of the cover 5 on the body 1 would be ensured.

  In principle, any depression made in one or the other of the faces of the part of the body 1 would be sufficient to ensure the fixing of the cover 5. It would naturally be the case.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 even if, instead of a depression on part 2, it was shaped so that it has a protuberance on at least one of its side faces.

  Moreover, it is obviously not essential that the cap 5 comes flush with the full posterior part of the body 1. The latter could have the same dimensions everywhere and the cap could cover one of its ends, so that the part of the body 1 intended to penetrate into the groove 3 of the anchor 4 is bare.

  It is however preferable to use a body 1 having a smaller part 2, when the material intended to form the cap is to be molded in place under pressure, because the rim formed between the solid part and this thinner part 2, serves as a partial shuttering to the material of the cover 5, during its molding.

  When the cap is fixed to the body 1 by means of a bar of the type shown at 7 in FIG. 2, it is not essential to provide a cover 5 which completely surrounds the body 1. It is sufficient that this cover covers the impulse face of the lift and the two lateral faces thereof, as seen in the second example shown in FIG. 3.

  In this, the metal body 1a of the lift is only thinned in its part projecting from the groove 3 of the anchor 4 on two sides, so as to form a part 2a of which three sides are covered by the cap 5a, a hole 6, identical to that of the first example, being drilled through part 2a of the body 1a.

  As in the first example, the two active faces 8 and 10 of the lift are covered by the cap 5a which does not require lubricant.
