Chain with clasp for bracelets, necklaces or other ornaments The present invention relates to a chain with clasp for bracelets, necklaces or other ornaments.
It aims to provide a chain-clasp assembly which makes it possible to adjust the size of a loop formed by the chain, by moving the strands of the chain in the clasp.
The chain with clasp which is the subject of the invention is characterized in that the clasp consists of a U-shaped slide intended to overlap the two juxtaposed strands of the chain over a length of at least two chain links and having , on the one hand, means ensuring it a correct guiding on said chain strands and, on the other hand, means for locking it on these strands after each adjustment made of the loop formed by the chain.
The drawing represents, by way of examples, an embodiment of the object of the invention as well as a variant.
Fig. 1 shows an embodiment of a chain with a clasp forming a long necklace.
Fig. 2 shows a variant of this chain comprising a modified clasp mounted on a chain identical to that of the necklace shown in FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a profile view of the collar shown from the front in FIG. 1.
Figs. 4 and 5 are views on a larger scale of the clasp of the necklace of FIG. 1, FIG. 4 comprising a partial section along the line IV-IV of FIG. 5 and fig. 5 being a section along the line V-V of FIG. 4. Figs. 6 and 7 are views similar to FIGS. 4 and 5 of the clasp of the necklace shown in FIG. 2.
The long necklace shown in fig. 1 comprises a chain 2 composed of identical cylindrical links 3 which are articulated together by rings, not shown, inserted in a day 4 open in the links (see FIG. 3). This kind of joint called ring enamel is known.
The two strands 2 'and 2 "of the chain are connected by a clasp 1 consisting of a slide presenting a U-shaped straight section which comprises a flat bottom 5 and two parallel side wings 6 (fig. 5).
Each of the wings 6, at mid-height, has an internal rib 7 which extends over the entire length of the wing parallel to the bottom 5 of the slide.
The ribs 7 are engaged in the groove formed on the sides of the chain by the set of days 4 dug in them. links. These ribs have a length corresponding substantially to that of three links of the chain and provide the clasp with correct guidance along the latter.
The clasp further comprises two elastic blades 8 which are housed in the corridors delimited by the bottom 5, the wings 6 and the ribs 7 of the slide. These blades are supported by their ends against the edges 9 of the wings 6; they are slightly curved and exert an elastic pressure through their central part on the links of the chain engaged in the clasp. As can be seen in fig. 4, the links of the two strands of the chain tightened against each other are then placed naturally in staggered rows in the slide.
Due to the engagement of their domed central part between links, the blades 8 act like ratchets and automatically retain the clasp on the chain while allowing the length of the necklace to be adjusted following a movement of the chain. slide on the two strands of the hand held chain engaged against each other.
To put on the necklace, we have the chain or green around the neck and we introduce the two strands 2 'and 2 "in the clasp, then we adjust the necklace to the desired size by sliding the clasp. 'introduction of the chain into the clasp, the bottom 5 thereof protrudes on either side of the wings 6 of a short length 10. In addition, the ribs 7 have their ends slightly rounded and the first two links of each of the two ends of the chain are preferably rigidly interconnected.
In the variant shown in FIGS. 2, 6 and 7, the slide mounted on an identical chain has a slightly greater width and has a central wall 11 which separates the two strands of the chain.
Thanks to this central wall, the two chain ends can easily be moved individually in the slide.
In other variants, the slide capable of constituting itself an ornament may have a greater or less length. In the latter case, however, it will be necessary for it to overlap the chain over a length of at least two links in order to allow the correct functioning of the elastic blades 8.
The clasps shown are of simple and sturdy construction and allow the person wearing the collar to easily operate the opening and closing of the collar as well as the adjustment of the length of the buckle. It should be noted that the clasps shown make it possible to adjust the size of the loop practically over the entire length of the chain.
