Sleeve for launching grenades using a gun The present invention relates to a sleeve for launching grenades using a gun, intended to be fixed to the barrel of the gun, and on which the tail of a grenade is intended to be engaged, characterized in that it comprises, at the mouth, an annular protective end cap made of a material more resistant than the body of said sleeve.
The launching sleeve according to the invention has various technical advantages, among which should be mentioned a) less wear on the outer part of the mouthpiece during transport and handling; b) less wear of the inner part of the mouthpiece by erosion of hot gases during firing; c) the possibility of interchanging the protective cap. The appended drawing represents, by way of example, some embodiments of the sleeve according to the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a rifle grenade carried by a launching sleeve.
Fig. 2 shows in partial section with cutaway, the anterior part of a launching sleeve.
Figs. 3 and 4 show, also in partial section, alternative construction of the sleeve according to FIG. 2. According to fig. 1, the sleeve 1, provided with a sight 2 and a fixing device 3 on the barrel of the rifle, is fitted into the tail of the grenade 4.
The body of the sleeve 1 (FIG. 2), preferably made of light alloy (aluminum alloy), comprises at its end, on the mouth side, an annular protective cap 5 made of a more resistant material (for example steel) than that which constitutes the body 1, and which is screwed onto a threaded bearing surface 6 of smaller diameter, which has the free end of the body of the sleeve 1.
A device for retaining the grenade 4 on the sleeve consists of a ring 7, clamped between the body of the sleeve 1 and the end piece 5, and provided with elastic tabs 8 curved, slightly projecting on the outer surface of the sleeve.
According to the variant shown in FIG. 3, the tip Sa is fixed to the body of the sleeve 1 by crimping at 6a 'of the part 6a (of smaller diameter) of the body of the sleeve 1.
In fig. 4, the tip Sb and the grenade retainer, 8b are made in one piece. The end piece Sb is then a steel coating covering the annular end of the body of the sleeve 1 and the inner part of which is crimped at 9 in a groove of said sleeve, while the outer part of the end piece is provided with a set of elastic legs 8b curved forward.
When the shooter places a rifle grenade on the launch sleeve, the elastic tabs (8, fig. 2 and 3; 8b, fig. 4) deform slightly and frictionally hold the grenade in position on the sleeve. This arrangement allows firing against

low without causing the grenade to move on the launch sleeve.
In the examples of fig. 2 and 4, the tip (5, 5b) is easily removable and, therefore, interchangeable.
