Description

Electric Toggle Switch The present invention relates to an electric toggle switch.

The contact systems of such electrical toggle switches are known. The momentary switching of such toggle or rocker switches takes place in that a rocker spring swivels the contact system from one switch position via the unstable equilibrium position into the other switch position. The switch actuator is tilted around a fixed pivot point in one or the other end position, the contact system also executing a tilting movement under the action of a rocker spring.

The electrical toggle switch according to the invention differs from these known switches in that a spring-loaded push button arranged in a cover is provided for the actuation of the toggle bracket, which is in operative connection with the toggle bracket via an intermediate piece, with two drivers on both sides of the tilt bracket are arranged through the tilt bracket axis and the center of the push button plane, which in one end position of the tilt bracket is a driver,

and in the other end position of the tilting bracket the other driver comes to rest in the path of movement of the intermediate piece.

In the drawing, an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in two variants, namely: Fig. 1 shows an axial section through the toggle switch of the first variant, Fig. 2 shows a further axial section along the line 11-II in Fig. 1 and Fig 3 shows the switch shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 with a mounting plate in an axial section corresponding to FIG. In the example shown, 1 denotes the switch base,

on which the rocker support 2 is fastened by means of screws 3. 5 with the contact rocker is referred to, which is formed from one end as a fork and is pivotably mounted at 4. At the end opposite the bearing point 4, the contact rocker with the usual contact rivets 6 is seen ver, which can move between the two Gegenkon clocks 7 and 8. 10 is a bracket-shaped toggle spring similar in shape to the large letter Omega of the Greek alphabet, which is supported on one end on the tilt bracket 11 and on the other end on the contact rocker 5.

Instead of this bow-shaped toggle spring 10, however, differently designed springs can also be used to swing the toggle bracket and contact rocker after crossing the unstable equilibrium position in one or the other end position. The tilt bracket 11 is pivotably mounted in the rocker bracket 2 by means of a pin serving as the tilt bracket axis 12, a rubber buffer 15 being arranged on the rocker bracket 2 to limit the pivoting movement of the tilt bracket 11,

at which the points 13 and 14 of the contact bracket 11 strike in its two end positions.

On both sides of the tilt bracket axis 12, a driver 16 or 17 is arranged on the tilt bracket 11 such that in one end position of the tilt bracket 11 one driver 16 and in the other end position of the tilt bracket 11 the other driver 17 in the trajectory of two lugs 18 and 19 of an intermediate piece 20 comes to rest.

This intermediate piece carries a spherical guide pin 21 at the upper end, which engages in a likewise spherical joint socket 22 of a push button 23, so that the intermediate piece 20 and the push button 23 are pivotably connected to one another on all sides. 24 denotes a leaf spring, through which the intermediate piece 20 is held in contact with the push button 23. The leaf spring 24 rests with its middle part on a surface 27 of the intermediate piece 20, which is arranged at right angles to the central axis of the intermediate piece, while it is supported with its two ends on both sides of the inter mediate piece 20 on two abutments 25 of a plate 26.

The leaf spring 24 strives to center the intermediate piece 20 in the plane E-E in the plane running through the center of the push button on the one hand and through the tilt bracket axis 12 on the other hand. The push button 23 is provided with three radially projecting strips 33 offset from one another by 120 degrees each, with which it is held in contact with the inside of the cover plate 28 by the pressure of the leaf spring 24.

Push button 23, intermediate piece 20, leaf spring -24 and cover plate 28 are assembled into a ready-to-assemble unit and set up for attachment to a second assembly unit, the latter being formed by the contact system l-17 assembled with the switch base 1. Both A units or assembly groups are connected to each other by fastening screws 29 and who benefits when installing the switch separately. For flush mounting, the base 1 is screwed to the mounting plate 31 by means of mounting brackets 30 (FIG. 3).

The handling and operation of the switch described above is briefly as follows: If the push button 23 is actuated, it transfers the force and movement exerted on it to the spherical pin 21 and to the intermediate piece 20. This intermediate piece initially moves under the influence of the leaf spring 24 straight in the plane EE, the surface 27 of the intermediate piece shifting parallel towards the base. The leaf spring 24 is loaded and thus receives the necessary tension to later return the intermediate piece 20 and the push button 23 when it is released back into the starting position.

At the moment in which the nose 19 of the intermediate piece 20 hits the driver 17 of the tilting bracket 11, the latter is pivoted about the tilting bracket axis 12 until, after the unstable equilibrium position has been exceeded, the tilting bracket 11 is under the influence of the tilting spring 10 jumps into the other end position, in which the stop 14 comes to rest on the buffer 15. The contact system is thus tilted into the other contact position in which the con tact rivet 6 rests on the mating contact 7.

The intermediate piece 20 performed a lateral pivoting movement (to the left in Fig. 2) when it moved at the moment when the two parts 19 and 17 touched, which sideways movement due to the spherical mounting of the intermediate piece in the push button and a corresponding additional bending of the leaf spring 24 was made possible. If the push button is released again, the intermediate piece 20 moves back into the starting position.

In the described tilting movement of the tilt bracket 11, the driver 16 has also been pivoted upwards and to the side (to the left in FIG. 2) and is now in the path of the nose 18 of the intermediate piece 20. If the push button is now pressed again, the The nose 18 of the intermediate piece 20 against the driver 16, the contact system being tilted or pivoted back into the previous end position (shown in FIG. 2). When the push button is operated, the tilting and contact system is alternately pivoted into one or the other end position.

The subdivision of the switch into two units or assembly groups has the advantage that after the cover section or the unit containing the push button has been lifted off, the switch section with the connection terminals is completely free and easily accessible. Another advantage of this division is that with a very compact arrangement of the switch section and clear, easily accessible connection terminals, the push button can still be very large, which makes it possible to equip even small switches with a large push button that covers everything.

On the back of the push button 23 is provided with three offset by 120 degrees opposite each other th radially projecting strips 33, with which it is held on the inside of the cover 28 by spring pressure in contact. This enables the push button to be actuated at any point on its surface protruding from the cover.

If, for example, pressure is exerted on the push button at point 35 in the direction of arrow P, the push button is pivoted about support point 34 into an inclined position. As a result, the joint socket 22 and thus also the intermediate piece is displaced inwards against the base, the described tilting movement of the contact mechanism being triggered. This triggering takes place even when pressure is exerted on the push button in the direction of the arrow P1.

Since the outer surface of the push button is conical and a rounding is provided at the transition point of the outer surface into the front surface of the push button, the force P1 generates an inwardly directed component, which in turn causes the push button to pivot about point 34 and the tilting mechanism of the switch triggers. In practice, the tilting mechanism is activated by touching the pushbutton at any point on its surface protruding beyond the covering hood 28.

In order to ensure a precise fit of the two units or assembly groups, guide brackets 36 are attached to the assembly group containing the base and the contact mechanism with screws 38, to which the assembly unit containing the push button can be fastened by means of screws 29. Any inaccuracies in Mon days are compensated by a support ring 26 and compression springs 37.
