<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

An alarm clockwork piece The present invention relates to an alarm clockwork piece according to the main patent, the claim of which is as follows Alarm clockwork piece, the ringing of which, once triggered, operates intermittently in the first phase of its work at least, characterized by an intermittent ring blocking device comprising a blocking member, formed by a fork with two teeth and an arm, capable of pivoting about the same axis as the strike hammer, a rod locking articulated at one of its ends on the arm of the fork and passing through an opening made in part of the hammer,
two cams rotatably secured to the ring escapement wheel and cooperating respectively with the two teeth of the fork, finally, a star toothed pinion wedged on the axis of a finishing wheel, the whole so that , for a certain angular position of the two cams, the normally free and oscillating end of the locking rod comes up against the flank of a tooth of the star pinion and causes the locking of the striking hammer until said pinion having turned by a certain angle, the side against which the rod abuts is retracted, which frees the locking rod and the hammer from the strike, resets the strike and allows the rotation of the two cams again,
the respective arrangement of the rod and the pinion being chosen so that the moment, relative to the pinion axis, of the force exerted by the rod on the latter, is in the same direction as the direction of rotation of the pinion.
The timepiece according to the present invention is further characterized by the fact that said locking device comprises a spring for returning the lever and the rod to their initial positions.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention. This embodiment constitutes a variant of that described with reference to FIGS. 4 to 7 of the main patent.
Fig. 1 is a partial plan view; fig. 2 is an elevation seen from A; fig. 3 is a perspective view of the intermittent locking mechanism.
The clockwork clockwork piece shown comprises a barrel 1 with two driving wheels, one driving the clockwork train formed by the mobiles la (large average), lb (small average), 2 (second), the other the escape wheel 3 of the striking device by means of a mobile 4. The striking hammer 5, articulated on a pivot 6, is actuated by the wheel 3, by means of the anchor 7.
The striking device comprises an intermittent ringing blocking mechanism formed by a lever 8, a cam 12, a rod 14, a spring 16 and a pinion 17.
The rocker 8 is rotatably mounted on the axis 6. The cam 12, wedged on the axis of the wheel 3, rotates with the latter. The rod 14 is articulated at one of its ends on the body of a screw 30 carried by the arm 8a of the lever 8, the arm 8b of which is intended, at each turn of the wheel 3, to be moved angularly. ment by the beak of the cam 12. The rod 14 is still secured to the hammer 5 by a bar 15 welded to the arm of the latter and pierced with a hole 15a which it passes through freely.
The spring 16, wound on the rod 14, between the head of the screw 3a and the bar 15, maintains the lever 8 in the position in which it is drawn
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
in fig. 3 and tends to recall it in this position when it is removed from it.
The pinion 17 is rotatably secured to the second wheel 2.
The operation of this intermittent locking mechanism is as follows.Once the striking device has been triggered, the wheel 3, driven in rotation by the barrel, causes the hammer 5 and the rod 14 to oscillate.
The end of the latter describes, during its oscillation movement, the path indicated in phantom and designated by D in FIG. 1. This path passes away from the pinion 17. When the cam 12, rotating with the wheel 3, meets the arm 8b, it causes the rocker 8 to pivot in the direction of the arrow Fl, which causes the rod 14 to advance in the direction F,. This movement of the rod has the consequence of moving the trajectory of the end of the latter from D to C; this end then abuts against a flank of one of the teeth of pinion 17, stopping the oscillating movement of hammer 5.
This stoppage lasts until the flank of the tooth, the wheel 2 continuing to turn, disappears. At this time, the rod 14 is released; simultaneously, the cam 12 escapes from the arm 8b, which allows the spring 16 to return the lever 8 and the rod 14 to their initial positions. The hammer 5 then resumes its oscillating movement until the moment when the beak of the cam 12, having made one turn, pushes the arm 8b back and causes a new longitudinal displacement of the rod 14.
The duration during which the ringing is periodically interrupted by the mechanism described above is limited by a second mechanism.
This second mechanism comprises a kinematic chain formed of two levers 18 and 24 and a toothed wheel 30 meshing with a pinion 31 wedged on the barrel shaft. This pinion 31 rotates at the same time and at the same speed as the wheel of the barrel actuating the striking device.
The lever 24, articulated at 25, comprises a forked arm 23 and an arm 26, the end of which carries a pin 27 engaged in a circular slide 32, constituting a cam. This slide is formed of two sections 28 and 29 of different radii. When the striking device is triggered, the wheel 30, driven by the pinion 31, rotates so that the pin 27 successively passes through the sections 29 and 28.
The lever 18 also has two arms. An arm 20 engaged between the fingers of the fork of the arm 23 and a fork 19 between the fingers, slightly elastic, from which the edge of the lever 8 is clamped. The latter is capable of sliding axially on its pivot axis.
This mechanism is inoperative during the period of time during which the pin 27 moves in the section 28 of the slide 32. It comes into action when this pin passes from the section 28 to the section 29. During this passage, the lever 24 performs an angular movement according to the arrow F3, which has the consequence of causing the lever 18 to pivot in the direction of the arrow F4 and to lower the latch 8. This movement causes the rod 14 to pivot in a plane parallel to axis 6 around a point contained in the plane of bar 15.
The end of the rod 14 then reaches a level such that the path it describes when the hammer sorrel no longer passes through the pinion 17, but above the latter. It follows that from this moment, the ringing is no longer interrupted by the action of the cam 12. It is definitively stopped by the arrival of the non-toothed part 30a of the wheel 30 against a tooth of the pinion 31, which causes the locking of the barrel shaft and with it of the wheel 3.
The advantage of the embodiment described above, compared to that which is the subject of FIGS. 4 to 7 of the main patent, mainly lies in a simplification of the shape of certain parts, in particular of the rocker 8 and of the levers 18 and 24, and the elimination of the lift 9 and of the return cam 12, replaced by a simple spring. The levers 18 and 24, formed by simple plates, can be obtained by cutting, advantageously by stamping.
