Description

Tobacco smoke filter The invention relates to filters for tobacco smoke with metal foil strips. It is known that such strips are used to form active filter surfaces that cool the smoke, whereby the harmful substances contained in it are precipitated.

Embodiments of the filter according to the invention can be designed both as a filter mouthpiece for cigarettes or cigars and as filter cartridges for tobacco pipes and as cigar or cigarette tips.

It is known to use for filtering the tobacco smoke filters made of paper, especially crepe paper or fibrous materials of various types. However, these materials have the disadvantage that their heat conduction is poor, so that the temperature of the tobacco smoke is hardly reduced when the tobacco smoke passes through such filters. As a result, however, a relatively large proportion of the harmful substances in the smoke remain in the gaseous state and pass through the filter in this form.

It is also already known to lower the temperature of the smoke by passing it through metal chips or along sheet metal strips. The main disadvantage of such filters is that they are uneconomical to manufacture, which in turn does not allow practical use. The metal strips could be used as filters for tobacco pipes, but are not at all useful as filters for cigars and cigarettes.

In order to eliminate the disadvantages of the known filters, it is proposed according to the invention that the effective filter surfaces are formed by creped, unclad or laminated metal foil strips that are rolled up spirally, with the channels formed by creping in planes through the longitudinal axis of the filter run away.

Preferred embodiments of the filter according to the innovation have the advantage that the absorbent paper layer laminated onto the metal foils removes the harmful parts from the tobacco smoke to a sufficient extent and absorbs them from the paper layer, and the metal foil significantly reduces the temperature of the smoke, even if the filters are relatively short. Through the combination of the two materials paper and Me tall, the aroma of the tobacco smoke is retained and the well-known unpleasant symptoms such as headaches, nausea, etc. do not occur even with heavy smoking.

In the case of laminated metal foil strips, these should preferably be rolled up so that the metal foil is on the inside of the spiral.

The filters can also advantageously be surrounded by a sleeve, which can also consist of a laminated metal foil, this preferably being arranged on the inside of the sleeves. These sleeves are advantageously smooth, that is to say not crimped or crinkled, so that the smoker's mouth has a smooth surface when smoking cigarettes or cigarettes. But it is just as possible to surround the filter with a sleeve made of paper or other material.

In the case of a filter for cigars, this can be conical in shape and designed in such a way that the: smooth envelope surrounding the filter is longer than the filter piece, the elongated smooth part of the envelope being used for placing on cigars and for wrapping with tobacco leaves.

In Figs. 1 to 3 two Ausführungsbei are shown games of the subject matter of the invention. Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section through a best existing filter from laminated, creped metal foil strips, Fig. 2 shows a cross section through the filter according to Fig.l and Fig. 3 shows a longitudinal section through a filter with an extended sleeve as a cigar tip.

The filter shown consists of a paper-laminated, creped (filled) metal foil 1, which is spirally wound into a roll, as can be seen in FIG. The fine channels 2 produced by the creping are (according to FIG. 1) parallel to the longitudinal axis 3 of the filter. The filter can be given with a cylindrical or conical sleeve 4, as can be seen from FIGS.

In the filter according to FIG. 3, the filter body 1 'is conical and surrounded by a conical sleeve 4, the part 5 of which protrudes on one side over the filter body 1', here the channels 2 run in planes through the longitudinal axes of the filter.
