Description

Fig. 5 ist ein Schnitt nach Linie V-V in Fig. 4.

Process and injection mold for the production of plastic objects with thin-walled inserts
The patent relates to a method and an injection mold for the production of thin-walled inserts, e.g. B. made of sheet metal or wooden objects made of plastic by injecting the plastic into molds which contain these inserts. It is generally known in casting and injection molding technology to use cast-in parts in the mold, so that these parts are cast into the cast part during the production thereof.

In the case of thin-walled inserts, such as discs, strips or cutting edges made of thin sheet steel or foils and thin plates made of various materials, such as metal, wood and the like, however, when objects are manufactured by injection molding from plastic, such inserts can also be carefully arranged in the shape suffer bending, warping and warping as a result of differences in the pressure exerted by the injection molding compound on both sides.

Attempts to remedy this problem by guiding or controlling the injection molding compound as it enters the mold in such a way that the same pressure prevails on both sides of the insert during the injection process did not achieve the goal, as even slight differences in pressure lead to bending and warping of the inserts and the injection molding compound is not evenly distributed over the entire surfaces of the insert.

According to the invention, the procedure is such that the injection of the plastic into the mold is carried out in at least two work steps, and the inserts in the first injection are backed on one side with pressure-resistant inserts that can be inserted into the mold, so that the plastic compound is only on one side in the first work step can act on the inserts, while in the further work steps after removing these inserts, mold cavities are injected on the other side of the inserts.

To explain the invention in more detail, an injection mold for plastic masses is shown in the drawing, for example, which is used to produce a z. B. for kitchen appliances suitable cutting roll is used, which contains five disc-shaped knives made of thin sheet steel, which are embedded in a plastic injection-molded, one-piece, hub-shaped body.

Fig. 1 is a vertical axial section through the injection mold with inserted support inserts after completion of the first operation.

FIG. 2 shows the injection molded body obtained in the mold according to FIG. 1 in the first working step with five knife disks in a side view.

FIG. 3 is a vertical axial section through the injection mold according to FIG. 1 after removal of the inserts and completion of the second operation.

FIG. 4 is a side view of the finished plastic body obtained in the second step after the sprues have been broken off.

FIG. 5 is a section along line V-V in FIG. 4.

The injection mold shown in Fig. 1 and 3 consists of six circular disk-shaped plates 1 to 6, which are connected to one another in a suitable manner, for. B. by inserting it into a cylindrical molded housing, not shown. All plates have a continuous, approximately centrally located hole for receiving the core 9, which forms an axial hole 10 in the plastic body of the cutting roller for the introduction of a plug-in shaft, not shown.

Furthermore, the plates 1 to 6, with the exception of the lowermost plate, each have a through-hole near the edge of the disk, which together form the sprue channel 7. The plates 2, 4 and 6 contain no mold cavities for receiving the plastic compound injected through the sprue 7, but only shallow recesses for the insertion of the five knife disks 8 formed by rings of thin sheet steel. The plates 2, 4 and 6 are used thus only as pressure-resistant supplements for these knives during the first operation, which is carried out with the injection mold according to FIG. The other disks 1, 3 and 5, on the other hand, have mold cavities into which the plastic compound is injected in the first operation, so that each of the knives 8 is only connected to the plastic on one side in the first operation.

The connection can be facilitated by the fact that perforations 21 are arranged in the rings 8 made of sheet steel, into which the injected plastic penetrates, as can be seen from the section in FIG. 5.

The object shown in FIG. 2 with its sprues 7 and 14 is formed by the first working step, which object represents an intermediate product and in which each cutter disk 8 is cast on one side of a section of the hub body of the cutting roller. The uppermost knife 8 is seated on one end 11 of the hub body, while the remaining knives 8 are connected to one another in pairs by the partial bodies 12 and 13. As a result of the action of the pressure-resistant shims 2, 4 and 6, warping of the cutter disks 8 in this first operation is excluded.

To prepare for the second step, the mold is assembled in the manner shown in FIG. Here, the inserts 2, 4 and 6 are exchanged for the plates 15, 16 and 17, which have recesses for the formation of mold cavities, so that in the second work step the parts 18, 19 and 20 of the hub body marked by cross-hatching are obtained, which the Complete the intermediate product shown in FIG. 2 to form a complete cutting roll, which is shown in FIG. 4 after the sprues have been broken off.

In this second step, it is no longer necessary to insert special, pressure-resistant supplements into the mold, because the parts 11, 12 and 13 obtained in the first step act as pressure-resistant supplements for the thin cutter disks 8.

The result is that a cutting roller is obtained which consists of a one-piece plastic body, in which the disc knives 8, which are made of thin sheet steel, are embedded in a completely plane manner without any warping or distortion.

The invention can be applied analogously to the production of other objects made of plastic by injection molding, if the object is to fasten thin-walled inserts in the body during injection molding.

By forming the inserts 2, 4, 6 as relatively thick metal plates, which, like the other molded parts, can be divisible, a further advantage is achieved because the thin-walled inserts 8 dissipate the heat that would otherwise be heated up around 1800 C during injection would accumulate in the thin sheet metal rings and cause considerable deformations of the same.
