Arrangement for measuring the distance to faults in the event of a line short circuit Although a faulty line can be shut down over most of the line by short-circuit protection relays in a very short time in order to keep the damage to a minimum, it is nevertheless desirable to know the distance to the fault location. However, due to the rapid operation of the short-circuit protection relays, it is no longer possible to determine the distance to the fault from the characteristic curve of the relay. The shutdown time is also too short to operate the usual measuring instruments.
In order to resolve these difficulties, it is known to store the existing state in capacitors at the moment of the occurrence of a fault in the current and voltage path of a diseased line before it is switched off, the time being used for storing the wel che between the response Protective device and the disconnection of the diseased line by switches controlled by the protective device. The state of charge of the two capacitors is displayed via a high-impedance tube voltmeter, and the resistance of the line and, from this, the distance to the fault must be calculated from the values read for short-circuit current and voltage on the line. It has also been suggested, after switching off the sick line automatically or by hand a scanning device, z.
B. to set a selector in conjunction with sensitive relays, which checks the charge of the storage capacitors and determines the distance of the fault.
In the arrangement forming the subject of the present invention for measuring the distance of faults in the event of short circuits on lines, a first capacitor is raised to the peak value of one of the voltage levels occurring on the line in the event of a short circuit within the time available between the short circuit and the disconnection of the line. voltage proportional to the measurement voltage and a second capacitor is charged in the same time to a measurement voltage proportional to the current occurring in the event of a short circuit.
In order to evaluate the state of charge of the two storage capacitors, the invention deviates from the proposed arrangement in a different way, which is characterized in that the voltage ratios in the charging circuits of the two capacitors are chosen so that the voltage on the second capacitor, if the fault location is within the line section to be monitored, is greater than the voltage on the first capacitor and that after the charging circuits have been switched off, the second capacitor charged to the propor tional voltage until the voltage on the first capacitor equals its charge with the voltage is proportional to the line,
is discharged and the time that elapses here serves as a measure for the distance to the fault.
In Fig. 1 an embodiment of the inventive arrangement is shown. If a short circuit occurs on line L, the relay responds <I> An </I> and connects its contact. The terminals marked with <I> U </I> are on the voltage path (converter Trl) and the terminals marked with J are on the current path (converter Tr2) of the sick line.
By bridging the terminals A using the <I> an </I> contact, the storage of the line status is started, while a triggering stimulus to switch off the line is still passed on. The following takes place until the shutdown takes effect: After the terminals A have been bridged by the contact <I> an </I>, the relay R1 responds. It applies the voltage path to the rectifier arrangement Gl1 via its contact a1 and the current path to the rectifier arrangement G12 via its contact bi, with the short circuit of the measuring capacitors C1 and C2 also being eliminated as a result of the opening of its contacts cl and dl.
The voltage occurring on the diseased line is thus applied as a measurement voltage or the measurement voltage proportional to the current flowing over the diseased line to the measurement capacitors C1 and C2 via the resistor W1 or W2. These capacitors are each charged to the peak value of the associated measurement voltage. The measuring capacitor C2 is always charged to a higher voltage value than the measuring capacitor C1 by means of a suitable translation of the supplied measuring voltages. About 11/2 periods of the operating frequency after bridging the terminals A responds to the parallel connection of the capacitor C4 to the talk-delayed relay R2.
By switching over its contacts a2 and b2, the relay R2 switches off the measuring capacitors C1 and C2 and, by closing the contact e2, places the resistor Wi5 parallel to the capacitor C9. In addition, by opening the contact d2 and closing the contact a3 of the relay R3 (polarized relay), which has now been activated, the capacitor C3 can be charged.
The relay R3, one winding of which is in the anode circuit of the tube Rö1, is compensated for by a countercurrent in its second winding via the resistor Wi7 so that the contact a3 is open when the voltage is zero at the control grid of the tube Rö1. If, however, as a result of the inequality of the charges of the measuring capacitors Cl and C2, a negative voltage reaches the control grid of the tube Rö1, the relay R3 is operated so that its contact a3 is closed and with the discharge of the measuring capacitor C2 the aforementioned call charge of the capacitor C3 takes place.
If the measuring capacitor C2 is discharged so far that its voltage corresponds to the voltage on the measuring capacitor Cl, the negative bias on the tube Rö1 disappears, so that the relay R3 is compensated again and the further charging of the capacitor C3 by opening the contact a3 interrupts. On the indicator J1, which is parallel to the capacitor C3, the distance to the fault can be read off immediately with appropriate calibration or the pointer of the indicator J1 and thus the setting value can be fixed by means of a retaining bracket. The linearity of the indicator scale can be set with the help of the resistor Wi8.
The time span in which the discharge of the measuring capacitor C2 takes place until the voltage equals that of the measuring capacitor C1 is a measure of the distance to the fault.
Another embodiment is shown in FIG. Here, as in the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 1, the measurement voltage applied to the terminals U is reduced to half by the converter Tr3 so as not to overload the rectifier arrangement Gl3, while the measurement voltage, which is proportional to the current, is applied to the terminals J, is brought to four times the value by the converter Tr4. This measure is necessary in order not to obtain excessively low voltages at the rectifier arrangement Gl3 with a small distance from the fault location and a small fault current.
Since the measurement voltage, which is proportional to the voltage on the line at the fault location, for a given short-circuit current and thus for a given voltage at the rectifier arrangement Gl4 becomes smaller and smaller as the distance to the fault decreases, it must be stepped up, taking into account the rectifier characteristic, so that the rectifier arrangements are also in the work the smallest distances that are still of interest outside the curved part of the rectifier characteristic. The voltage divider Wi10 is also provided for further weakening of the measuring voltage, which is not of interest here.
In the event of a fault, after the switching operations already mentioned with reference to FIG. 1, the relay R4 responds as a result of the bridging of the terminals A and enables the measuring capacitors Cl and C to be charged by moving the contacts a4 and b4. This is in the circuit of the measuring capacitor C2 Balistic galvanometer J2, which holds the current propor tional charging current of the measuring capacitor C2. This gives the possibility of an additional measurement of the short-circuit current. In the event of a short circuit with an arc, the quotient measurement is not sufficient to determine the fault location; man
EMI0002.0025
must also know the size of the short-circuit current. The resistors Will and Will are used to limit the charging currents.
By closing the contact c4 of the relay R4, the relay R 1, which is on-delayed by the capacitor C5 connected in parallel, is activated; energized, which about 1¸ periods after the start of charging by switching the contacts a5 and c5 off the measuring capacitors Cl and C2 and short-circuits the measuring voltages across the resistors W11 and Will to avoid influences of a capacitive nature; Via the contact b5, the resistor W1. connected in parallel to the measuring capacitor C2.
By closing the contact, d5, the call charging of the capacitor C3 is initiated at the same time, with which the display instrument J3 is connected in parallel. The prerequisite for this is that relay R6 (polarized relay) has closed its contact. This is the case when the measuring voltage on the measuring capacitor C2 is greater than the measuring voltage on the measuring capacitor Cl, i.e. the error lies within the line section to be monitored.
The tap on the Wilo resistor is used to adapt the device to the line length to be monitored. The setting is made such that in the event of a short circuit at the end of the line to be monitored, the voltage tapped at resistor Wi "is equal to the voltage at resistor W'14.
The purpose of the push-pull connection of the tubes Röl and Rö2 is to compensate for the direct current pre-magnetization of the relay R6, so that when the two measuring voltages at the tap of the resistor Wi10 and the resistor Wi14 become equal, the number of ampere turns of the two oppositely connected windings of the polarized relay R6 are the same so that its armature returns to the rest position and the charging of the capacitor C3 is interrupted by opening the contact a6.
By opening the contact b6, the relay R7, which was previously excited via the closed contact b6, is de-energized, so that, due to the delay in its fall due to the parallel-connected capacitor C6, after a while opening its contact a7, the holding magnets M2 and M3 of the instruments J2 and J3 can be de-energized, so that now the released brackets hold the instrument pointer.
The pointers are only released again when the magnets M2 and Ms actuated via the closed contact a7 when the relay R7 is re-energized are excited, so that they lift the retaining clips off the pointers. The instruments J2 and J3 therefore do not require a power supply to maintain the lock. The instruments can be reset to zero by bridging contact a7 with the reset button RT. The pointer position on the instrument J3 indicates the distance to the point of failure with the corresponding calibration.
In order to make the display independent of the fluctuations in the auxiliary DC voltages generated via the transformer Tr5, the rectifier arrangement Eq ;, the choke coil Dr1 and the capacitors C7 and C8, a cross-coil instrument is provided as an instrument J3. Since the auxiliary AC voltage can collapse in the event of a short circuit, the capacitors C7 and C8 are dimensioned so large that the auxiliary DC voltage is maintained for a sufficient time for the measurement during the measurement process.
