Description
Four-legged seating furniture provided with a backrest The present invention relates to a four-legged seating furniture provided with a backrest in which the seat frame, the frame of the backrest and the two front legs of the seating furniture form a rigid unit.
According to the invention, this piece of seating furniture is characterized in that the rear legs, which are connected to one another by means of a transverse strut, are arranged pivotably about a transverse axis and can seep in different inclined positions. This makes it possible to transfer the seating furniture from its normal Sitzstel development to a backward sloping resting position.
On the accompanying drawing, an exemplary embodiment of the subject invention is illustrated.
Fig. 1 and 2 are two vertical sections through the seating in two different states, and Fig. 3 is a ge in a larger scale section from Fig. 1 for better illustration of a detail.
The four-legged seating furniture provided with a backrest according to FIGS. 1 and 2 has a frame a, which at the same time is the seat frame; and forms the frame of the backrest. The front legs b are attached to the seat frame, so that the two frames mentioned above and the front legs b together form a rigid unit. The two rear legs c are connected to one another by means of a cross strut cl and are arranged on the seat frame so as to be pivotable about a transverse axis. For this purpose, a fitting consisting of two stop pieces is provided for each of these two rear legs.
The one stop piece marked d (see Fig. 3) is fastened by means of screws on the inside of the relevant seat frame leg. This stop piece d has on its circumference inwardly bent, teeth-forming projections dl and also similarly bent side parts d2, which in turn form limiting stops Be. The other, with e designated stop piece has. a U-shaped cross-section and is fastened by means of screws on the outside of the obe Ren end portion of the relevant rear leg c be.
This stop piece e is provided with a longitudinal slot e1 through which a bolt zen f attached to the other stop piece d extends. Accordingly, a slot and bolt connection is provided between the two stop pieces e and d, which allows the stop piece e to be displaced relative to the stop piece d in the region of the slot e. At the outer end of the stop piece e, two cams e2 arranged symmetrically to the longitudinal center line thereof are ausgebil det, between which the teeth dl of the stop piece d can engage.
An edge part lying between these two cams is bent inwards and forms a stop g, between wel chem and the bolt f a compression spring h is provided, which presses the stop piece e outwards and thus engages between the cams e2 and the teeth dl secures.
In order to transfer the rear legs c from their support position shown in FIG. 1 to the position shown in FIG. 2, the seating furniture is tilted a little forward, then grips the cross strut cl and pulls the cams e2 out of the teeth against the action of the springs h of the stop piece e.
The rear legs c can now be pivoted backwards around the bolt f, after which the engagement of the cams e2 in the teeth of the stop piece e is brought about by the compression springs h by releasing the pressure exerted on the cross strut cl.
