Method for producing a container made of thermoplastic material
The invention relates to a method for producing a container with an attachment part made of thermoplastic material for liquid, paste and powdery filling material.

It is known to manufacture such containers in such a way that a tube made of thermoplastic plastic is inserted into an open mold consisting of two parts and then the mold is closed and the tube is pressed against the wall of the mold by air pressure, whereby the final shape of the container is created . The finished blown container is separated from the latter after the mold has been opened.

It is also known to inject a closure made of plastic onto a tube body in one operation by means of an injection molding process, the tube neck and a lamella and an end cap consisting of one piece of the same material.

The method according to the invention, in which the container is provided with a narrowed neck part and is formed from a hose which is introduced from a nozzle into a two-part, open mold and placed under air pressure, whereupon the mold is closed, is characterized in that the hose material, which is superfluous to form the narrowed neck part, is deformed during its displacement when the mold is closed to form the attachment part connected to the container.

FIGS. 1 to 4 of the drawing, which for example show a molding device for carrying out the method, serve to explain the method according to the invention. Show it:
1 shows a cross section through an opened mold after the tube has been inserted,
2 shows a view of the closed mold from FIG. 1 in the parting plane II-II of the mold halves,
3 shows a container obtained by the method and a subsequent filling,
4 shows a second embodiment of a closure for the container.

1 and 2, the two halves of a mold are denoted by 1 and 2. A press cylinder 3 is arranged above the mold 1, 2, at the lower end of which an annular nozzle 4 is inserted. An air line 5 guides air through the center piece of the nozzle 4 into the interior of a tube section 6 ready for deformation. In the example shown, the shape has a cylindrical part 7 to which a narrower part 8, which forms a cannula, is connected. At the point 9 the tip of the cannula is formed. Thermoplastic plastic 10 is filled in the press cylinder 3, which under pressure is deformed downward through the annular nozzle 4 to form a tube 6.

At the lower end of the mold halves 1 and 2 there is a closing device 12 which, in a known manner, closes the hose end 11 by squeezing it by moving bars transversely. Above the closing device, knives 28 are arranged which, in a known manner, also cut off the hose end 11 by lateral displacement after the hose has been deformed.

The method takes place, for example, in a form shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 in the following way:
The press cylinder 3 is filled with plastic 10 in a known manner and closed. When the mold halves 1 and 2 are open, as a first process step, enough hose 6 is produced from the press cylinder 3 until the hose end 11 protrudes beyond the lower end of the closing device 12. The next step is that before the mold halves 1 and 2 are closed, air is blown into the hose through the supply line 5 and the nozzle 4 and at the same time the hose end 11 outside the mold halves 1 and 2 is sealed airtight by the closing device 12. The still hot plastic tube 6 is now gripped by the closing mold halves 1 and 2. The air pressure presses the hose 6 against the wall of the expanded molded part 7.

Before the final closing of the mold, the mold halves 1 and 2 have grasped the tube 6 laterally at points 13, 14, 15 and 16 and thereby displaced the material of the tube. The displaced material is punched out from the mold halves 1 and 2 and the adjacent edges are welded using the heat generated by the hose. The broken lines 17 indicate that the displaced material is deposited as a thin, flat section in a slight depression prepared for this purpose in the mold halves. When the mold is closed, the attachment part 18 with the closure piece 19 is formed from the displaced material. The last step of the method is that the two mold halves 1 and 2 with the blown container 20 are moved away from the nozzle 4 and opened at the same time.

Before the mold is opened, the cutting device 28 is actuated, as a result of which the fully formed container 20 is separated from the pinch point produced by the closing device 12. If necessary, the container 20 is released from the inner walls after the mold halves 1 and 2 have been separated.

3 shows a container 20 produced by the method described above, with a cannula 21, a tip 22 and the attachment part 18 with a closure piece 19, which are formed from the same material and in the same operation as the container 20. The container 20 can be closed at its end 23 in a known manner after a liquid, paste or powder material has been filled. Since the cavity in the tip 22 is precisely formed by the method described above, the closure piece 19 can be inserted into the cavity of the tip in a sealing manner after a small part of the tip 22 has been cut off.

Fig. 4 shows a variant of the closure piece for the container. The attachment part designed as a connecting part 24 is formed from the material of the container. The closure piece 25 is manufactured separately and inserted into a bore 26 provided for this purpose in the connecting part 24. In this embodiment, the closure piece 25 can be rotatably arranged in the bore 26 and in this way also allows the tip 27 to be closed by a thread.

The method can also be carried out in such a way that air is blown into the tube from the cannula side. The method also allows the part formed in one piece with the container to be designed as a shell or as a second cavity. Such a cover or a cavity could, for example, accommodate a label or an additional liquid.

The method according to the present invention significantly simplifies the production of containers made of thermoplastic material. In particular, containers with cannulas can be manufactured more precisely and more cheaply because the deformation of the still hot hose coming out of the nozzle can take place more quickly and more reliably. By displacing and cutting off displaced material along the cannula and to the side of the tip it is achieved that the wall of a container produced according to this method is more uniform in its thickness. The simultaneous production of an attachment piece with a closure piece from the same material in one operation brings a further cheaper production.

The possibility of shaping the displaced material for other purposes instead of a connecting part with a closure piece, for example as a cover for a label or as a cavity, for example for an additional liquid, brings further advantages of the method.
