Description

Hydraulic turbo coupling with constant filling The present invention relates to a hydraulic turbo coupling with constant filling, with a bladed pump and a bladed turbine wheel, which elements form a working circuit with one another, and with a housing that rotates together with one of the two elements the inside of the coupling is sealed against the outside, and also with a storage chamber,

which is arranged at least partially within the radially inner boundary of the bladed part of the pump wheel and is open in the direction of the interstices between the blades of the turbine wheel, that is to say is in communication with them, and also with a storage chamber rotating with the pump wheel.

Fluid couplings of this type are already known (British Patent Nos. 692286 and 719544). In this, the bladed part of the turbine wheel has a smaller inner profile diameter than the bladed part of the pump wheel, with a chamber open at one end (so-called stowage chamber) at least partially within the radially inner boundary of the bladed part of the pump wheel and in connection with the spaces between the blades of the turbine wheel.

When the clutch slip is low and the speed of the turbine wheel is high, the working fluid is almost completely in a rotating vortex ring that flows between the bladed parts of the pump and turbine wheel. When the slip increases and the speed of the turbine decreases, as occurs, for example, when the turbine wheel is braked under overload, the working fluid from the working circuit formed by the pump wheel and the turbine wheel is forced into the open chamber, whereby the working space is partially emptied.

When the turbine wheel speed then rises again, the working fluid flows under the influence of the centrifugal force either directly or via centrifugally controlled valves from the storage chamber into the working circuit.

It is also known to arrange the chamber, which is open on one side, directly next to a storage chamber, which rotates with the pump wheel and is designed in such a way that it can take up liquid when the clutch is stationary or when the pump speed is low.

In these known couplings means are arranged to automatically bring liquid from the storage chamber into the working circuit when the impeller speed increases, the liquid flow back into the working circuit being dimensioned such that the filling takes place with a delay in order to achieve that the pump speed goes up quickly and the normal speed is reached before the working circuit is filled to the value that corresponds to the highest degree of filling of the clutch as such.

The purpose of the present invention is to create a fluid coupling which has an improved torque-slip characteristic and a more compact design than previously known constructions. The coupling according to the invention is characterized in that the axial extent of the space occupied by the storage chamber and by the storage chamber does not or does not go significantly beyond the planes that are perpendicular to the coupling axis and the axially outer points of the pump wheel and the turbine wheel Contain the working area.

The storage chamber advantageously partially encloses the storage chamber. It can also be arranged concentrically in this. In another embodiment, the storage chamber can lie radially inside the storage chamber.

In a further embodiment, the storage chamber and the storage chamber can be located directly next to one another, their total axial extent lying within that of the rotating housing, possibly including the rotating wheel, which contains the working fluid.

Embodiments of the turbo coupling according to the invention are then explained with reference to drawings. The figures show: FIG. 1 a front view of a turbo coupling, partially in section, FIGS. 2 and 3 parts of further versions of turbo couplings in section.

1 shows a turbo coupling with a pump wheel 1 with blades and a rear wall 11, which rotates with a housing 2, 2 which forms a retention space for the working fluid and extends over the back part of a turbine wheel 3. The impeller has a blade space which is bounded radially on the inside by a ring 4 which is axially directed against the turbine wheel 3 and ends shortly before the axially inner edges of the turbine blades, the ring 4 being the radially outer wall of a chamber 5 open on one side ( Storage chamber) forms.

The turbine wheel 3 is fastened by means of bolts to a flange 6 of a sleeve-like shaft part 7, which is mounted in bearing parts of the pump wheel 1 and the one housing part 2 and has splines in its inner surface for the purpose of connecting it to the output shaft 8 of the clutch.

In the middle part, within the ring 4 of the pump wheel 1, there is a housing part fastened to the bearing part of the pump wheel 1 with bolts be, which has a shell-shaped part with two walls, of which one wall 9 is net angeord perpendicular to the coupling axis, while the other wall 10 or 10 'extends from the radi'a'l outermost edge of the wall 9 against the bearing part of the pump wheel 1, the wall 10 extending parallel to the coupling axis or forming a small angle with it (10').

The outermost part of the wall 9 has a small radial distance from the ring 4 of the impeller 1, and the plane of the wall 9 is between two normal planes to the coupling axis, one of which contains the axially inner edges of the turbine blades and the other the axially outermost part of the housing part 2, which summarizes the pump impeller.

The radially inner edge of the wall 9 is separated from the shaft part 7 only by the so-called running clearance, whereby two separate chambers are formed for receiving liquid, namely firstly the storage chamber 5, which is open on one side and is located outside the partition walls 9 and 10 or 10 ', and two at least the other chamber named storage chamber 12, which is defined by the walls 9 and 10 or

10 'is separated. The storage chamber 5 is with the toroidal, formed by the pump wheel 1 and the turbine wheel 3 working space over the ring gap between the radially inner parts of the pump wheel 1 and the turbine wheel 3 freely connected. Under normal operating conditions with little slip, the working fluid is completely in the working space and forms a circling vortex ring in that the fluid flows continuously from the turbine blades into the pump blades.

If the slip increases, which can occur if, for example, the turbine wheel 3 lags behind the speed of the pump wheel 1 or is braked, then liquid is forced out of the working space through the gap mentioned into the storage chamber 5, whereby the transferable torque of the clutch is reduced . When the turbine speed increases compared to the pump speed, the liquid returns from the chamber 5 under the influence of centrifugal force into the working space, whereby the transmittable torque increases and the slip in the coupling is reduced.

The inner chamber 12, which represents the Speicherkam mer, opens through openings 13 in the bearing part of the wheel 1 in the space 2 ', which is connected to the working space at the pipe 16 through a recess in the rear wall 11 of the pump wheel, and also through the annular gap between the outer boundary edges of the pump and turbine wheel. When the pump wheel 1 is stationary, part of the working fluid flows under the influence of gravity through the openings 13 into the storage space 12, so that the clutch is activated with a reduced filling of the working space and the pump wheel 1 is thereby enabled, under something to reach full speed faster with reduced load.

When the pump wheel 1 accelerates, under the effect of centrifugal force, liquid flows from the storage chamber 12 through the openings 13 into the working space, so that it is filled as much as is acceptable for the clutch as such, the filling delay time among other things is determined by the size of the openings 13.

In order to obtain fluid couplings of the type mentioned above in good working conditions, as explained above with reference to FIG. 1, it is important to limit the undesirable effect of the expansion of the working fluid by heating. This effect can take place, for example, after a number of briefly following start-ups of a heavily loaded machine, for example a pit conveyor belt. This occurs above all when the drive is carried out by one or more squirrel cage motors which are connected to a Nie derspannungskreis, and especially when a group of such motors are switched on following or at the same time.

In the embodiment described above, the volume of the storage chamber 5 and the storage chamber 12 are limited to the still acceptable minimum, since the expansion of an unnecessary liquid volume (which could be taken into account by arranging a larger storage chamber and a larger storage chamber) the unavoidable expansion of the absolutely necessary amount of fluid, which must be present in the working circuit in order to ensure the required torque capacity of the clutch without a large excess, would additionally increase.

The disadvantageous effect of this expansion of such additional fluid is to increase the transmission capacity of the clutch during commissioning to: an undesirable level, which increases the acceleration time of the driving motors, which is associated with high current consumption and correspondingly reduced voltage. On the other hand, this reduces the starting torque of the motors, which can mean that a heavily loaded conveyor belt cannot reach operating speed.

Another disadvantage of such additional fluid is that the maximum torque transmission capacity of the clutch (in the range of about 10-15% slip) increases undesirably. In a turbo coupling which has a storage chamber and a storage chamber which have the limit dimensions described above, the unpleasant effects of the expansion of the working fluid are reduced to an acceptable level.

In order to maintain satisfactory operation with the storage chamber 5 and the storage chamber 12, the total amount of clutch fluid must not be excessive, since the desired torque characteristic, which is to be generated by these two chambers, is not sufficient due to overfilling would. It is therefore also provided to prevent excessive filling of the coupling through the filling opening by special means when the coupling is in the normal working position in which the shaft axis is horizontal or inclined to the horizontal, as occurs, for example, with pit conveyor belts.

For this purpose, the filling line is designed in such a way that it can be closed by means of a filling plug. It extends from the outside in the radial direction through the working chamber (circulation chamber) and ends in the area of the outer peripheral surface of the storage space chamber 5.

In Fig. 1, the filling tube has a socket 14 and a tube 16 which is mounted in an opening of the Ge housing part 2, which part includes the back part of the pump wheel 1 and is provided with an internal thread. A filling plug 15 is screwed into the outer end of the socket 14. One end of the radially extending tube 16 is screwed into the inner end of the socket 14 such that the tube 16 pushes through the rear wall 11 of the pump wheel 1 at two points and ends on the radially inner side of the ring 4.

When the coupling is filled for the first time, for example with a horizontal axis, the filling plug 15 is unscrewed and the coupling is rotated such that the tube 16 with the vertical forms the angle according to the operating instructions, which z. B. is between 45 and 75.

The maximum amount of liquid that can be filled in through the filling tube 16 is limited by the air enclosed above the liquid level and by the angle of the tube 16 with the vertical. After filling, the Füllpfrop fen 15 is screwed into the outer end of the tube 16 is.

A preferred embodiment of such turbo couplings provides a fuse, which at the prescribed temperature, for. B. 140 or 175 C, responds, this fuse has two known melt metals to allow the Arbeitsflüs fluid to flow out in the event of overheating. This can occur, for example, with extremely high slip or with partial or complete braking from the turbine runner if this state lasts until the temperature of the working fluid reaches an undesirable value.

It is furthermore desirable that the opening into which the safety plug is screwed cannot be used in an unskilled manner to allow the coupling with liquid, e.g. B. to fill in the status, which is noted in the operating regulations.

The melt plug can in or on a tube, which ends in the region of the radially outer Be limit of the storage chamber open on one side, so z. B. the filling pipe described is similar Lich, are arranged. The securing plug 17 is advantageously screwed into the filling plug 15, as shown in FIG. 1.

When the safety plug 17 responds and working fluid flows out through the pipe, this outflow of the fluid also continues during operation of the coupling when it is running under a heavy load and accordingly has a large amount of slip; because the chamber 5, which is open on one side, is more or less filled with liquid which flows out of the working circuit, which continues until the torque transmission capacity of the clutch has decreased so much that the clutch is no longer operational.

The reason for the overload or operation with high slip must then be eliminated, the safety plug replaced and the clutch refilled to the intended level.

In FIGS. 2 and 3, the housing 2 extends over the rear surface of the turbine wheel 3 and works together with the pump wheel 1 with which it rotates, forming a retention chamber with this wheel in which the working fluid is retained. In this case, the Ge housing 2 has no part which extends over the back, part 11 of the pump wheel 1.

The openings 13 lead directly from the storage chamber 12 into the toroidal working space formed by the pump wheel 1 and the turbine wheel 3.

In Figure 2, the partition 9 is arranged so that the storage chamber 5 and the storage chamber 12 are located next to one another. The filling pipe 16 is inclined with respect to the coupling axis and extends inward into the storage space chamber 5.

In FIG. 3, the storage chamber 5, which is open on one side, is arranged so as to be substantially radially displaced relative to the storage chamber 12. The filling tube 16 extends inward to the outer surface of the chamber open on one side in that part of the partition 9 which is arranged parallel to the coupling axis.

In FIGS. 2 and 3, a filler neck 15 is screwed into the tube 16, in which a fuse, not shown in the drawing, is inserted in a corresponding manner as in the arrangement according to FIG.

In all three cases, the axial extent of the space occupied by the chambers 5 and 12 is smaller than the largest axial outer width of the housing 2, 2 (Fig. 1) or of the housing 2 including wheel 1 (Figs. 2 and 3 ), and this space does not extend axially (or at most insignificantly) beyond the planes which are perpendicular to the coupling axis and which contain the axially outer points of the working circuit space.
