Description
C'est le cas - des supports utilisés pour l'assemblage avant leur pose des carreaux en céramique; - d'une toile destinée à servir de couvercle à de multiples orifices pour le dessus de cagettes de fruits ou de légumes ;
Method of manufacturing a flexible support Certain industrial embodiments require the use of supports which must be flexible, but the texture of which is not necessarily, for example, that of a tight canvas.
This is the case - supports used for assembly before laying ceramic tiles; - a canvas intended to serve as a cover with multiple openings for the top of fruit or vegetable crates;
- or even that of reinforcement, in the longitudinal direction alone, or in both directions, and in the appropriate proportion, of agglomerated elements such as, for example, mixtures of plasters and wood chips, cork, waste of flax or other textiles.
The object of the invention is a process for manufacturing a flexible support from flexible bands, arranged like warp threads, parallel to each other and assembled with other similar bands, arranged compared to the first in the manner of weft threads, characterized in that one fixes,
on the assembly consisting of the bands arranged in the manner of the warp threads and the bands arranged in the manner of the weft threads, other bands, of the same nature as those mentioned above, and exactly in line with the first bands arranged like warp threads,
so that they cover them and that the bands serving as weft threads are clamped on both sides by bands serving as warp threads.
The appended schematic drawing illustrates, by way of example, one implementation of the method according to the invention, as well as an apparatus for this implementation. Fig. 1 is a plan view of a flexible support obtained by said implementation of the method.
Figs. 2 to 5 are, on an enlarged scale, sections, respectively along 2-2, 3-3, 4-4 and 5-5 of FIG. 1.
Fig. 6 is a side elevational view of said apparatus.
Fig. 7 is a plan view.
The bands to be used in said implementation of the method may be of any material, provided that it is flexible and that, arranged in the form of superimposed or intersecting, the mating surfaces can be assembled.
A good result is obtained by employing paper which is tacky or a tacky or heat-sealable plastic material.
To produce the flexible support of FIG. 1, we have warp threads at a certain distance from each other. of the others, strips 2, 2a, 2b, 2c ...... of paper. for example, the upper face of which has been coated with glue.
From time to time, transversely as if they were weft threads, we have, regularly or not, at a certain distance from each other, the bands 3, 3a, 3b, 3c ......
of length corresponding to the width of the flexible support to be manufactured and which are crossed with respect to the first. We then apply, as if they were warp threads, strips 4, 4a, 4b, 4c ...... arranged in the same way as the first, so that by superimposing them.
overlap and adhere to each other (fig. 2 to 5).
These strips thus assembled form a flexible support having the superficial appearance of a. flat cloth. The resistance thereof can be adjusted transversely and longitudinally by varying the width of the bands, their number and their thickness in one or the other direction.
The strips 2, made of a flexible material, paper, plastic or other material, of the chosen width, are placed in coils 5, 5a, 5b, 5c .. _ (Fig. 6 and 7).
These, in sufficient number, are arranged parallel to one another so as to constitute what would be the warp of a usual fabric of textile threads.
The same number of coils 6, 6a, 6b .... with a spacing 7 strictly identical to that 8 of the coils 5 constitutes a second chain placed above the first.
By hand, or by a mechanical device not shown, before the bands 4 of the upper chain and those 2 of the lower chain are brought into contact by superimposition with each other, one places, in crossing, perpendicularly and with the desired spacing,
band 3 which in a usual fabric would be called weft. Immediately -after and as and when this positioning of the bands 3, 3a, 3b, acting as weft, the second warp is applied and both are pressed against each other between cylinders 9 and 10 pressure.
If the assembly is obtained by gluing, the internal face of one of the superimposed bands is coated with glue so that said assembly is ensured by the pressure exerted at the time of the joining of the bands of the two chains.
As shown in fig. 6 and 7, the upper face of each strip 2, 2a, of the lower chain, coming from the reels 5, 5a,
5b ------ is glued in contact with a roller 11 resting on a roller 12 partially submerged in a tank 13 containing glue. 14 and 15 are pebbles. or deflection rollers and guide for moving the web 2.
Like any fabric of textile material, the flexible support can be rolled up and subsequently subjected to any coating, cutting or other operations necessary for the intended use.
The bands used as weft can be of dimensions, or even of different natures from those used in warp. The assembly of the strips can also be obtained by sewing, setting rivets, welding or otherwise.
