Device for the production of reproductions according to the silver salt diffusion process Numerous embodiments of developing devices for the production of reproductions according to the silver salt diffusion process have become known in which the guidance of negative and positive paper by the developer to a pair of pinch rollers is ensured by so-called guide elements. These guide elements usually consist of a number of corrosion-resistant material, such as. B.
Plastics, manufactured, depending on the device type more or less bent, sometimes even straight plates or strips, which are arranged one above the other and over the entire width of the paper insertion slots. They make it possible to insert negative and positive paper separately and to completely and sufficiently wet both papers in the developer. In known devices, the guide elements are equipped in such a way that they bring the papers together after they have been wetted. The lower guide element ends shortly before the rollers and takes over the final introduction of the papers into the roller pair.
In these known devices, negative and positive paper are now deflected within the developer solution by the guide elements, which always leads to certain torsions of the individual sheets. Even with the most skilful handling of the device, oblique, distorted copies cannot always be avoided. Now this deficiency is insignificant with a single copy, since a subsequent correction by trimming is easily possible.
However, this does not apply to the recently launched offset printing foils, in which a silver image is generated on a metal plate or on a coated paper or plastic film using the silver salt diffusion process, which is subsequently prepared for ink acceptance.
Since the usual offset printing machines, mainly used in the office sector, on which the diffusion foils are processed, only correction options with regard to the height and side shift of the print image are provided, but no device for diagonal compensation, a correction is at most on the prints possible, which is only possible with a loss of the optimal format utilization of the printing paper and thus at considerable expense. This greatly reduces the economic value of the films.
Now, in principle, this error can be prevented and the image to be copied can also be precisely adjusted with regard to the vertical and lateral position, if the two materials, in this case the negative paper and the offset film, are placed on the edge before development, which first enters the nip rollers, firmly connects. This can be done in any way, but the easiest way is to attach an adhesive strip from the back of the offset film against the perforation holes,
so that the negative can be attached to the adhesive tape through the perforation holes.
According to experience, however, a negative paper that is firmly connected to the offset film in this way can no longer be processed properly in the known developing devices; because it is now impossible to introduce the materials separately via the guide elements, and consequently only incomplete wetting of the negative by the developer takes place, mostly only at the edges.
It has now been found that these difficulties can be overcome with the aid of a device for producing reproductions according to the silver salt diffusion process, which device is characterized in that at least one of the guide elements

consists of two guide rails, which are arranged on both sides of the insertion slot.
The structure and mode of operation of an embodiment of the device according to the invention equipped with these guide rails are explained, for example, with the aid of the accompanying drawing: FIG. 1 shows the developing device from above and in longitudinal section.
This developing device has a lower guide element 1, which is bent in such a way that the papers are fed from it to the nip rollers 3 after passing through the developer 2. For this purpose, there is a guide rail 5 on both sides of the insertion slot 4, which consists of a plastic body and expediently protrudes from the insertion slot. At the top, the insertion slot is closed off by a further guide element 6 in such a way that it forms an insertion groove 7 at the edges with the guide rails 5 described above for the sheet lying on top during development.
Instead of the guide element 6, a further guide rail according to FIG. 5 can also be used to form this groove.
The implementation of the development is illustrated in FIG. First, the two upper corners 8 of the photosensitive negative paper are cut off at an angle. Then an adhesive tape strip is applied to the back of the offset film 9 via the perforation. The exposed negative paper is glued to the front of the film at 10, layer by layer, with the aid of the adhesive strip effective through the perforation. The negative is then folded over once over the adhesive edge and folded at 11.
When the negative is put back, a bulge 12 is formed which now allows the papers to be inserted on the guide rails at the cut corners in such a way that the paper (the film) lying on top is gripped in the guide groove 7 while the negative is lifted off the guide elements and passed separately by the developer. Since the curvature, once given, is retained over the surface of the paper during the entire run, it is given sufficient rigidity to prevent any collapse or buckling in the longitudinal direction during the run.
For this reason, the free space between the guide rails is approximately 1 to 5 cm less than the width of the negative intended for processing, and corresponds approximately to the length of the adhesive edge remaining after the corners of the negative have been cut off. The papers are fed through the developer to the rollers and reach them in the state specified by the gluing. If the guide rails are arranged correctly, the papers are also picked up straight and pulled through by the rollers without distortion.
