Watertight watch case with faceted glass The present invention relates to a watertight watch case with faceted glass, characterized in that it comprises a ring attached to the inside of the case, having a frustoconical upper face on which rests , at least in points a corresponding shaped chamfer of the crystal, on which said facets are formed. It should be noted that constructions in which a watch crystal rests on a frustoconical surface of an element of the case are known, in which the crystal has a contact surface, also frustoconical, but devoid of facets.
The drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention. Fig. 1 is an elevational view of part of a faceted crystal equipping the two embodiments shown. Fig. 2 is a partial section of the first embodiment of a watch case, and FIG. 3 is a partial section of the second embodiment of a watch case. The crystal shown, designated by 1, of generally cylindrical shape, is a sapphire crystal which has at its base a frustoconical chamfer 2 on which facets 3 and 4 of triangular shape are formed.
These facets could have a different shape. The watch case shown in fig. 2 comprises a middle part 5 in which is engaged, from the bottom, a metal ring 6 whose upper face 7, frustoconical, is diamond-machined so as to be polished to a shine. The crystal 1, crimped at 5a, cold or hot, rests on the frustoconical face 7 of the ring 6 by its chamfered face 2, or more exactly, due to the presence of the facets 3 and 4, by a series of points located alternately towards the inner edge and towards the outer edge of the chamfer. The movement dial, designated by 8, rests under the ring 6 which thus forms a flange.
The present arrangement has the advantage of allowing perfect polishing of the face 7, necessary for the reflection of the facets of the crystal to be satisfactory, polishing which would be difficult to achieve in the event that the face 7 is constituted by an internal bearing surface of the body of box.
The embodiment of FIG. 3 differs from the first in that the inner ring, designated by 9, is engaged in the body of the box 10 from the top and rests on an inner shoulder 10a of this box body. As for the rest, the crystal 1 bears, by its face 2, on the polished upper face 11 of the ring 9, and is held in place by crimping at 10a, as in the case of the first embodiment.
Finally, given that it is very difficult to seal a sapphire crystal, crimping is difficult.

piety by a special bonding process, so that the seal is thus obtained without sealant.
