Zusammentragmaschine

Die Förderketten 8 könnten also weiterlaufen.
Gathering machine
The invention relates to a so-called collating machine, i. H. on a machine in which sheets of different types, e.g. B. different colors, different strengths, different formats and / or different imprints are to be collected in a certain order to form sentences. This is preferably the collation of advertising leaflets, forms, brochure pages and, in particular, carbonless forms into stacks with successive, mutually different sheets.
Gathering machines of this type are widely known per se, but the known machines are of complex construction and difficult to manufacture and assemble. In all machines of this type, the solution to the problem of ensuring that only one sheet is removed from the successive stations and conveyed to a conveyor device presents particular difficulties. The devices known for this purpose, which stop the machine or at least trigger warning signals when a sheet is missing and also when more than one sheet is applied, are mostly based on the principle of mechanical thickness measurement. They are strongly influenced by machine vibrations and therefore do not always work properly, especially with thin paper.
The invention is aimed at a machine of the type just described, which should be extremely simple and reliable, the run of which is not interrupted by refilling the sheet magazines, which maintains a rapid, even work cycle, and in which the prescribed creation of only secured with a bow.
The invention consists in that inclined tables with flaky fanned stacks and associated feed units with friction feeders are arranged via continuously rotating, carrier-having conveyors at equal intervals, that electrical control means are connected to the feed units by the sheets removed from them and that with second electrical control means are in compulsory connection to the conveying means, which, in cooperation with the first-mentioned control means, ensure compliance with a work cycle corresponding to the conveying speed of the feed units and prevent disturbances caused by delays that occur when the sheets are removed by the friction feeder.
A removable guide grate, freely supported in the conveying direction, is expediently arranged underneath each table, which serves for the correct transfer of the sheets, in particular thin and short sheets, onto the conveyor base and the sheets that have already been brought in.
According to an advantageous further development, the drivers connected to the conveying means at the same intervals as the stacking tables are upwardly extended parts of the respective links of the conveying means, which are designed as conveyor chains, and which extend through the conveyor support arranged below the stacking tables, designed as slotted metal sheets, and preferably through the grates have angles pointing in the conveying direction at their upper ends. These angles cover the rear edges of the arches that have been placed on the grids and shifted by the drivers so that they cannot slip over the drivers if they arch. For the same purpose, hold-down bars are provided above the grids, the lower edges of which are lower than the lower edges of the angled parts of the drivers.
In order to ensure that only one sheet is removed from each stacking table and brought to the conveyor base during each work cycle, feed units are advantageously provided which have a drive roller designed as a friction roller and a non-rotatable friction counter roller that can be adjusted to the respective paper thickness and in which the drive roller with a continuously revolving drive can be coupled via an electromagnetic clutch that can be switched on and off in the work cycle.
In order to prevent the next sheet from being detected prematurely with even greater security, the drive shaft can be equipped with a brake that prevents it from continuing to run after the magnetic clutch has been switched off, for example a self-adjusting mechanical brake, a spring brake or an electric brake that simultaneously can be controlled by switching off the electromagnetic clutch, preferably by the same relay.
As already mentioned above, for the machine to work properly it is important that the friction feeders are actuated at the correct moment, and electromagnetic clutches are advantageous for this purpose, which couple the shafts of the drive rollers with constantly rotating drives in the working cycle. Since the work cycle depends on the running of the conveyor chains, the switching on of the clutches is expediently effected by switching means that are directly or indirectly connected to the conveyor chain or chains.
Now, as already mentioned, it must be ensured that the drive rollers do not convey any further sheets after a sheet has passed through, i. H. the clutches influencing their drive rollers must be switched off in good time. For this purpose, it is particularly advantageous to arrange a contact disk of the same diameter on the continuously rotating shaft of the transport shafts following the drive rollers at each docking station, on which a sliding contact that can be lifted through the sheet that is passed through it rests and which, depending on whether or not it lifts off Sliding contact in cooperation with existing in each docking station, with the or the conveyor chains in positive connection switching means via a relay arrangement causes the disconnection of the magnetic coupling.
Furthermore, it is necessary to provide means which prevent the conveyor chains from continuing to run in the event of delays in the feeding of the sheets by the drive rollers. For this purpose, the contact roller with its sliding contact, the switching means of each docking station, which is preferably designed as a cam disk with an associated switch and is inevitably connected to the conveyor chain or chains, and the relay arrangement influenced by these monitoring organs, are additionally connected to a time monitoring element located in the end station.
This is preferably also designed as a cam disk that is inevitably connected to the conveyor chain (s) with a cam that is angularly offset from the cam disks of the docking stations and with a switch controlled by the latter, and when the time corresponding to the work cycle is exceeded, it sets any docking station to deposit a sheet Drive of the conveyor chains is still. Here, the time for stopping the drive, when using a cam disk by appropriate selection of the angular offset of its cam, is expediently dimensioned so that the conveyor belts with their drivers are stopped in a position that allows for any missing sheets to be properly inserted in front of the feed point next docking station.
In addition to the control of the timely passage of sheets, it is necessary and also common in known collating machines to prevent the creation of more than one sheet. In the machine according to the present invention, a photoelectric, adjustable to a certain light passage through the sheet can be arranged for this purpose in each docking station between the drive rollers and the transport rollers, a preferably ver changeable in its brightness lamp, a photodiode, an amplifier and has a switching relay that is interconnected with the rest of the relay arrangement in the sense of a timely stopping of the drive of the conveyor chains.
The use of photoelectric test devices has the advantage over mechanical thickness gauges that they are insensitive to machine vibrations.
In order to be able to use the test device for different sheet widths and especially for printed sheets with a white border, it can be arranged transversely to the conveying width in steps or continuously.
With regard to manufacture and assembly, the machine according to the invention can be designed particularly advantageously in that it is constructed from mutually identical feed stations which can optionally be arranged one behind the other in the number required in each case. The relay circuits within the stations are also expediently completely identical to one another and connected to common supply and control lines that go through all stations and can be connected to one another by means of plug connections.
Finally, it is advisable to equip one of the feed stations with a counter which separates the incoming sets according to certain numbers of items, for example inserting a sheet of cardboard, and thus facilitates the subsequent binding of these sets of a certain number of items.
Some exemplary embodiments of the invention are described below with reference to the drawings.

The gathering machine shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 has a frame 1, which consists of a number of similar sub-frames each containing a docking station 2, 3, 4, 5 and an end part 6 which contains the drive part and those control means that all Stations are common. The frame 1 has a cover plate 7, which consists of a number of smooth, continuous longitudinal slots having partial plates corresponding to the number of feed stations. Below the cover plate 7 run two chains 8, on which in the transverse direction exactly opposite upwardly directed drivers 9 are attached, which protrude through the longitudinal slots of the cover plate 7 and slide the sheets placed on the plate 7.
Each docking station is equipped with a docking unit located above the cover plate 7. Each of these units comprises an inclined feed table 10 for receiving flaky fanned sheet stacks 11, a pair of friction feed rollers 12, 13 and transport rollers 14, 15 as well as an adjoining grate 16 that is cantilevered at the front end. This only becomes particularly thinner or thinner when it is placed / and a short arch is required and is therefore removable. The end part 6 is equipped with pairs of transport rollers 17, which bring the sheets carried on the cover plate 7 by the chains 8 and their carriers 9 and placed in sets during transport to a stacking device 17.
As FIG. 2 shows more clearly, the sheets of the stacks 11, which are grasped by the feed rollers 12, 13 and guided downwards at an angle, are deposited on the surface of the cover plate 7 via the transport rollers 14, 15 and the grids 16 in the direction of the arrow. There they are picked up by the drivers 8 and moved under the feed unit of the next station. The feeder rhythm is such that the sheet fed by the next station falls onto the sheet brought in from the previous station.
After the last feed station, all sheets lie on top of one another in the correct order and are then conveyed in sets by the transport rollers 17 to the discard pile 18.
As FIG. 3 shows, the friction rollers 12, 13 each grasp the top sheet of the fanned sheet stack 11 located on the table 10 and convey it obliquely downward. In order to ensure that the uppermost sheet is captured, special feeders are provided in a manner known per se according to FIG. These have feed rollers 19, shown only schematically, seated on the top sheet under elastic pressure, which are driven by the upper rollers 12 of the pairs of friction rollers 12, 13 via interposed friction wheels 20.
The drivers connected to the conveyor chains 8 are - cf. 5 - is expediently designed as links 21 of the conveyor chains 8 which are extended upward. These members have rods 22 which extend upwards and which have angles 23 pointing upwards in the conveying direction. These overlap the rear edges of the sheets to be moved and prevent the sheets from slipping backwards over the drivers 22, 23 in the event of any arching. Furthermore, hold-down rods 25 are attached to stationary transverse rods 24 in such a way that their lower edges lie below the lower edges of the angled portions 23 and thus ensure that the arches captured and aligned by the carriers 22, 23 on the rear edges lie flat on the grids 16 and without Deformation slide along them.
It should also be noted that in the case of the friction feeders, only the upper friction roller 12, which is operatively connected to a drive shaft 27 via ratchet mechanism 26, effects the further movement of the sheets brought in by the feed rollers 19, while the lower friction roller 13, which is fixed and non-rotatable on its axis 28 with this can be adjusted relative to the drive roller 12 to the respective sheet thickness, aligns the sheet at the point of contact between the transport rollers 14, 15 and protrudes through curved guide plates 29.
FIGS. 6 and 7 show the parts already described and the essential control means for the cyclic actuation of the feed rollers and for monitoring the correct application of one sheet in each case. The drive shaft 27 of the upper drive rollers 12 is geared to the electrically controllable part 31 of an electromagnetic clutch via a gear 30, the continuously rotating part 32 of which is in drive connection via gears 33, 34, 35, 36 with a continuously running chain drive 37. The gear 35 drives the two shafts 40, 41 fixedly connected to the transport rollers 14, 15 via two intermeshing gearwheels 38, 39.
On the upper shaft 40, between two transport rollers 14, there is a contact roller 42, which has the same diameter as the transport rollers 14, 15 and on which a contact spring 43 rests.
Two chain wheels 44 are in engagement with the conveyor chains 8, the shaft 45 of which drives a cam disk 48 via two toothed wheels 46, 47. The cam disk 48 actuates a switch 49, preferably designed as a microswitch, once during each revolution.
In the end part 6 indicated by a dash-dotted border, the conveyor chains 8 drive a further cam disk 50 via an identical drive connection, the cam of which is offset by approximately 900 from that of the cam disk 48 and which acts on a switch 51, which is also preferably designed as a microswitch .
Between the drive rollers 12, 13 and the pairs of transport rollers 14, 15 is located - cf.
7 shows a photoelectric test device which is used to monitor the number of sheets and which transilluminates the sheets passing through, with a lamp 52 whose light intensity can be regulated, a photodiode 53, an amplifier 54 and a switching relay 55.
A relay circuit containing the parts just described will be explained below with reference to FIG. 8. In this, the left, dashed-outlined part shows the circuit that is present in the same way at each of the docking stations 2 to 5, while the right, dashed-outlined part shows the in End part 6 shows existing control parts.
In the embodiment shown, all of the docking stations have two continuous control lines 56, 57 in common, of which the line 56 receives control pulses and the line 57 is connected to the positive pole of a power source. The part contained in the docking stations. Pieces of lines 56, 57 are connected to one another by means of plug connections 58. A manually operated switch 59, preferably designed as a toggle switch, which is closed during operation, is used to switch each docking station on and off, while a similar switch 60, which is open during operation, enables the conveyor belts to be stopped from each station.
The contact disk 42 and its sliding contact 43 act on a relay 61 which has a normally open contact pair 62 and a normally closed contact pair 63. The microswitch 49 of the cam disk 48 is connected to earth (-) on one side and connected to a relay 64 on the other, which is connected to the positive line 57 via the manual switch 59 - and has three pairs of normally open contacts 65, 66, 67. In parallel with the microswitch 49, the pair of make contacts 66 of the relay 64 and the pair of make contacts 62 belonging to the relay 61, whose fixed contact is grounded, are connected in series. In the normally closed contact pair 63 of the same relay 61, the fixed contact is connected to earth (-) and the movable contact is connected to the control line 56.
The pair of contacts 65 of the relay 64 is on the one hand connected to earth (-) and on the other hand is connected to the positive line 57 via the controllable part (31) of the electromagnetic clutch and an indicator lamp 68 lying parallel to it. The pair of normally open contacts 67 lies between earth and the control line 56. The photoelectric test device 52-55, which is used to monitor the number of sheets, is connected on the one hand to the control line 56 and on the other hand to the power supply line 57.
The microswitch 51 of the cam disk 50 is connected on the one hand to the end of the control line 56 and on the other hand to a closed-circuit relay 69, the contact pair 70 of which controls a coupling in the drive of the conveyor chains 8.
To describe the mode of operation, the switching status shown in the circuit diagram is assumed. The conveyor chains 8 run because the normally closed contacts 70 associated with their drive are closed. The movable coupling halves 31 and the associated indicator lamp 68 are not switched on, so the feed stations are not conveying any sheets at this moment. The sliding contact 43 rests on the contact roller 42, the associated relay 61 is therefore energized and keeps its pair of normally open contacts 62 closed and its pair of normally closed contacts 63 open.
If the cam disk 48 now operates its switch 49 as it rotates in the indicated direction of rotation, the relay 64 is energized and its contact pairs 65, 66 and 67 are closed. The contact pair 65 energizes the coupling half 31 while the lamp 68 and the feed rollers 12 light up at the same time , 13 are set in rotation and, when working correctly, convey the top sheet between the constantly rotating transport rollers 14, 15 and at the same time between the contact roller 42 and the sliding contact 43. Until the contact roller 42 and the sliding contact 43 are separated from each other by the sheet being passed through the cam disk 48 rotates further and the switch 49 is opened. However, for the time being the relay 64 remains in its working position, since it holds itself via its own contact pair 66 and the still closed contact pair 62 of the relay 61.
If a sheet conveyed by the feed rollers 12, 13 separates the sliding contact 43 from the contact roller 42, then the relay 61 is de-energized, its contact pair 62 opens, and its contact pair 63 closes.
The previously self-retaining relay 64 is de-energized and de-energizes the coupling half 31. The feed rollers 12, 13 stop while the transport rollers 14, 15 pass on the sheet fed to them. Closing the pair of contacts 63 puts the control line 56 to earth and thus prepares a circuit for the relay 69 via the switch 51 of the cam disk 50. However, if the rear edge of the sheet being conveyed gets between the contact roller 42 and the sliding contact 43; before the cam of the cam disk 50 actuates the switch 51, the re-energized relay 61 then holds the aforementioned control circuit to the relay 69 open by opening its pair of normally closed contacts 63.
The described process is repeated as long as the sheets are gripped by the feed rollers 12, 13 within a certain time and are conveyed on by the transport rollers 14, 15.
However, if the drive roller 12 does not convey a sheet to the contact roller 42 in the time corresponding to the work cycle and consequently does not separate it from the contact spring 43, then the relay 61 remains energized, the self-holding circuit of the relay 64 remains closed and its normally open contact pair 67 keeps the control line 56 with it Earth (-) connected. Since after a predetermined period of time, which depends on the offset position of the cam of the cam disk 50 with respect to the cam of the cam disk 48, the switch 51 controlled by this is closed, if no sheet has been conveyed by then and the contact spring 43 has passed in time , the closed-circuit relay 69 opens and interrupts the coupling circuit of the chain drive via its contacts 70.
A very similar effect occurs when the photoelectric test device 52-55 detects the conveyance of more than one sheet by reducing the luminous flux penetrating the sheet.
Then it also connects the control line 56 to earth via its switching relay 55, and the cam disk 50, which actuates its switch 51 until it passes through the multiple arcs, stops the motor drive.
It should be noted here that in the absence of a sheet, although the conveyor chains 8 are stopped, the drive roller 12 and the transport rollers 14, 15 of the feeder continue to run. If a sheet is now conveyed after all, the relay 61 is de-energized as a result of the lifting of the sliding contact 43, so that it interrupts the holding circuit of the relay 64. This switches off the coupling 31 via the pair of contacts 65 and stops the drive shaft 27 of the drive roller 12, but the transport rollers 14, 15 continue to run and convey the sheet that was brought up late to the cover plate 7.
By opening the contact pairs and switches in the circuit of the holding current relay 69, the conveyor belts are set in motion again.
Here, by appropriate arrangement of the drivers 9 relative to the transport rollers 14, 15 and the cam of the cam disk 50, it is ensured that the conveyor chains 8 and their drivers 9 remain in a position in which the delayed sheets are placed in front of the drivers 9 will.
The switching sequence with delayed passage of an arc is explained in more detail:
If the leading edge of the sheet has separated the sliding contact 43 from the contact roller 42, the relay 64 drops out and, as already mentioned, holds the drive shaft 27 of the drive roller 12 by opening its contact pair 65. At the same time, in addition to its pair of holding contacts 66, it also opens. the contact pair 67 and thus separates the control line 56 from earth. The conveyor chains 8 could therefore continue to run. However, the de-energized relay 61 has established the connection between the control line 56 and earth via its normally closed contacts 63 and maintains this connection until the rear edge of the sheet passed through the contact point between the contact roller 42 and the contact spring 43.
Only when this has happened, the relay 61 is energized again and opens its normally closed contact 63. The conveyor chains 8 can therefore only continue to run when the rear edges of the sheet brought up have passed the contact roller 42 and thus the transport rollers 14, 15 and are at the correct position Place in front of the drivers 9.
When more than one sheet is conveyed by the photoelectric test device, the control line 56 is also connected to earth, and the conveyor chains 8 remain in the same position as in the case of the faults explained above. The sheets reach the grate 16 and the sheets that have been delivered in excess can now be removed. The connection established by the switching relay 55, a self-sustaining switching element, between the control line 56 and earth is maintained until the operator interrupts the self-holding of the switching element 55 by means of a closed-circuit pushbutton (not shown) after removing the surplus sheet or sheets.
The circuit diagram shown in FIG. 9 relates to a feed station which is used to control the number of joined sets of sheets that belong together, that is to say can be arranged in front of the first or after the last of the feed stations described above. Its main purpose is to count the number of sentence groups each containing a certain number of sentences belonging, for example, to a carbonless book.
Finally, these groups of sentences should be separated from each other by creating interleaves.
The counting station is the same as the rest of the docking stations except for the counting supplement. The photoelectric monitoring device can mostly be switched off, since the sheets to be placed are usually practically opaque, and since the friction feeder does not convey multiple sheets from a certain thickness of the intermediate sheets.
The essential change is that a counting relay 71 controlled by electrical pulses is connected between the relay 64 and the switching contact 49 of the cam disk 48 that controls it. This has a contact 72 which keeps the line to the relay 64 open and which, after the predetermined, adjustable number of pulses, d. H. the number of sets is closed and the clutch 31 of the strong leaves or
Switches on the feed unit conveying cardboard boxes. The relay 71 opens its contact 72 automatically after the passage of an arc. As with the other docking stations, the correct time of passage of the intermediate arches to be placed is monitored here.
