Sac
Bag
The present invention relates to a bag comprising a strip of paper placed astride the end to be closed of the bag and sewn with a chain stitch.
The bag which is the object of the present invention is characterized in that the folded band has a length greater than the width of the bag in the closed part so that the two ends of the band protrude beyond the edges of the bag, and in that the thread is secured by adhesive to the end of the folded tape from which the seam can be undone by pulling on the free end of the thread.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a side view of the end of this embodiment, seen from the leading side of the needle.
Fig. 2 represents the bag of FIG. 1 on the opposite side.
Fig. 3 shows how to make the closure by pulling the thread.
Fig. 4 is the section on a larger scale taken along line 4-4 of FIG. 1, and
fig. 5 is a view of the upper right side of FIG. 1, showing part of the closure strip raised to show the parts to which the adhesive is applied.
The figures show the upper part of a two-layer paper bag 3 and 5. The bag shown is a gusseted bag 7. The closure comprises a strip of paper 9 folded astride the end of the bag. A seam 11 crosses the web and the sheets of the bag to hold them against each other along the edge of the bag. The length of the strip 9 is greater than the width of the bag, and the strip has ends 13 and 15 outside the edges of the bag. The seam is carried out along the entire length of the strip, and as can be seen, the seam passes through a narrow paper tape 17 forming a reinforcing cord on the leading side of the needle of the machine used for the sewing. sewing.
The seam 11 is single thread 19 (fig. 3) in chain stitch. This type of seam is easily undone by grasping the end of the thread by the end where the seam is finished, this end being the one in the direction in which the loops 21 are folded down (the right end of the seam according to figs. . 1 and 3).
A tongue 35 (Figs. 1 to 3) is detachably attached to the end portion 15 of the strip, the tongue being glued over the thread on the needle side of the strip. The element 37 fixing the tongue by adhesion to the strip is visible in particular in FIG. 3. Tab 35 shown is a strip of paper narrower than strip 9 when folded. The tab protrudes from the end of part 15 of the strip so that it can be easily grasped. The adhesive extends from the side of the inner end 41 of the tongue to the other end of the strip. This adhesive can be a hot-apply adhesive, a paste or any other suitable type of adhesive.
In fig. 2 and 4 is shown a localized application of adhesive at 43, this adhesive preferably being a paste, on the loops of the wire in the end part 17 of the strip 9.
At 45 of fig. 4 and 5 is shown the application of an adhesive, for example a paste, between the two halves of the folded strip 9 to adhere the two halves to each other in the end part 15 of the strip . As can be seen, the adhesive 45 occupies a relatively narrow strip spaced from the thread 19 so as not to hamper the making of the seam. The adhesive at 37 and 43 fixes the end of the thread serving to undo the seam of the strip 9, and this end of the thread is thus anchored to prevent this end of the seam from coming undone. I1 will be observed that the wire is anchored to the strip at a point located externally with respect to the edge of the bag, so that this anchoring is not subjected to significant forces. The adhesive at 45 prevents the separation of the two halves of the strip 9 at the end 13.
To open the bag, just grab and pull the tab. As seen in fig. 3, when the tongue is moved away from the strip, it drives the thread 19, the loops coming out through the needle holes of the bag which are gradually opened. The loops are easily released from the adhesive 43. The adhesive 45 is not in contact with the yarn and does not interfere with the end of the exit of the yarn.
