Description

Man erhält so substituierte Chinacridin-7,14- dione in kristallographisch reiner Form.

Process for the production of pure crystal forms of substituted quinacridine-7,14-dione Quinacridine-7,14-dione and its substitution products are known compounds. Quinacridine-7,14-dione is known to occur in several crystal forms and that the individual crystal forms can be converted into one another by treatment with solvents. The substituted quinacridine-7,14-diones, on the other hand, were not previously known to occur in different crystal forms.

On the basis of this discovery it was found that substituted quinacridine-7,14-diones can also be obtained in various pure crystal forms if they are treated with solvents.

The substituted quinacridine-7,14-diones, which are hereinafter referred to as pigments, can, for. B. be manufactured by the method of Liebermann, A, 404, 272 (1914) or that of Belgian patent number 580,924. The treatment according to the invention can consist of reprecipitation, recrystallization or mechanical treatment.

To reprecipitate, for example, the pigment is first dissolved in a solvent and the solution it holds is mixed with water or a mixture of water and an organic solvent or poured into water or such a mixture.

It is often advantageous if the precipitant contains basic substances in dissolved form, e.g. B .. Hydroxides, alcoholates, enolates or amides of alkali metals, ammonia, hydrazine, hydroxylamine, guanidine, primary, secondary or tertiary aliphatic,

Araliphatic or alicyclic amines or polyamines or the corresponding quaternary ammonium compounds and alkanolamines.

Suitable solvents are e.g. B. inorganic acids, e.g. B. sulfuric acid (especially about 60 to 100%) or polyphosphoric acid. Particularly polar, water-miscible solvents are suitable as organic solvents, e.g.

   B. alkyl or aryl sulfonic acids or their esters, sulfuric acid esters of monohydric or polyhydric alcohols or these alcohols themselves, alkyl or aralkyl carboxylic acid amides, alkyl and aralkyl sulfoxides, pyrrole, pyrrolidine, N-methylpyrrolidine, pyridine, quinofn,

Piperidine or morpholine. In some cases, the organic solvent is also one of the aforementioned basic compounds. Otherwise, it is often beneficial to add a basic compound to the solvent. Particularly favorable solvents are dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, dimethyl acetamide, methanol,

Ethanol and ethylene glycol or mixtures thereof. These solvents are to be used both to dissolve the pigment and in admixture with the precipitation water.

The same solvents, optionally mixed with water, and especially the polar solvents, can be used to convert the pigment into a pure crystal form with the aid of a mechanical treatment, also z. B. alkyl or aralkyl ketones, e.g. B. methyl isobutyl ketone, aromatic hydrocarbons, z. B. toluene and xylenes, and aliphatic esters, e.g. B.

Ethyl acetate or butyl acetate. For this purpose, the pigment-solvent mixture can be stirred, shaken, ground or treated mechanically in some other way. It is often beneficial to heat up to temperatures up to the boiling point of the solvent used and especially up to about 180 ° C.

For recrystallization you can, for. Use, for example, sulfuric acid, dimethylformamide, dimethylacetamide, dimethylsulfoxide and other, preferably polar solvents.

Substituted quinacridine-7,14-diones are thus obtained in crystallographically pure form. They are orange to blue and excellent for pigmenting plastic compounds, e.g. B. of polyvinyl chloride, polyolefins, z. B. polyethylene or polypropylene, polyamides or polyterephthalic acid glycol esters, of synthetic resin dispersions, printing inks, paints, spinning masses, z.

   B. from cellulose xanthate (viscose rayon) and acetylcellulose (two and a half and triacetate rayon), rubber or valuable papers and ge suitable for pigment printing on textiles.

The dyeings and prints obtained have good all-round fastness properties and particularly pure nuances and very good to excellent lightfastness. Particularly noteworthy are the excellent overpaintability of the pigmented coatings, the migration fastness of the polyvinyl chloride dyeings and the good to very good fastness to water, washing, perspiration, over-dyeing, alkali, acid, peroxide bleaching and dry cleaning fastness of the Vis - Cose and acetate silk dyeings and prints on textiles.

The parts mentioned in the following examples are parts by weight and the percentages are percentages by weight. The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.

Example 1 5.5 parts of 2-methylquinacridine-7,14-dione, as it is obtained by known processes, are at room temperature in a mixture consisting of 152 parts of dimethyl sulfoxide and 19.3 parts of 10% strength Alcoholic potassium hydroxide solution dissolved and filtered through talc. The blue solution is then mixed with water at 70-80 until precipitation begins, then cooled to room temperature and filtered. The residue, washed neutral with water, is washed with alcohol and petroleum ether and then dried at 60 in vacuo.

There who obtained 4.25 parts or 77.3% of theory of purpurfar benem 2-methyl-quinacridone in the a-crystal phase.

Example 2 17 parts of 2-phenylamino-5 - (4'-methylphenyl-amino) -terephthalic acid are introduced into 5-0 parts of polyphosphoric acid at 150-160 with thorough stirring, and then at this temperature for 15 minutes stirs and then allowed to cool to 125. The quinacridone-containing polyphosphoric acid is then allowed to run out to 500 parts of water at 90 ° with thorough stirring and stirred for a further 15 minutes at this temperature. The precipitate which has been filtered off with suction and washed neutral with water is washed with alcohol and petroleum ether and finally dried at 60 in vacuo.

15.4 parts or 90.6% of theory of violet-red 2-methyl-quinacridone are obtained in the β-crystal phase.

The same product is obtained if instead of 2-phenylamino-5- (4'-methylphenylamino) -terephthalic acid, 2-methyl-quinacridone in the a-phase or a mixture consisting of a- and s-phase is used In other words, the process is independent of the crystal phase of the starting material.

Example 3 1 part of 2,9-dichloro-quinacridone in the α-crystal phase, which was prepared according to the information in Example 1, - is dissolved in 30 parts of concentrated sulfuric acid at 20-25 . This solution is left in a desiccator, the lower part of which is filled with water, until the 2,9-dichloroquinacridone has largely separated out in fine crystals, which are filtered off, acid-free with dilute sulfuric acid and then with water wash and dry in vacuo at 60.

0.8 parts or 8.0% of theory of fine red crystals of 2,9-dichloroquinacridone are obtained in the f-crystal phase. This process is also independent of the crystal form of the starting material.

Example 4 1.3 parts of 2,9-dichloroquinacridone in the f-crystal phase, which was prepared according to Example 3, are dissolved at 100-110 ° C. in 19.5 parts of polyphosphoric acid. The resulting solution is carefully poured out at 80 to 85 parts of a solvent mixture consisting of 137 parts of dimethyl sulfoxide, 206 parts of abnormal alcoholic potassium hydroxide solution and 169 parts of water and stirred for a further 30 minutes at this temperature. The residue isolated at room temperature is washed alkali-free with water and dried at 60 in vacuo.

0.9 parts or 71.4% of the theory of violet 2,9-dichloro-quinacridone are obtained in the a crystal phase. This process is also independent of the crystal form of the starting material used.

Example s 1 part of quinacridone consisting of a mixture of the α- and / 1-crystal phase is refluxed with 25 parts of dimethyl sulfoxide for 4 hours and then for a further 85 hours at room temperature in this medium leave it. After dilution with 25 parts of water, the quinacridone is isolated, washed with water and dried at 60 in vacuo.

0.98 parts of red-violet quinacridone in the fJ crystal phase are obtained, which X-ray graphically is identical to the product described in US Pat. No. 2,844,485.

Further quinacridones, which can also be isolated in at least two different crystal forms from one another radiographically, if they are treated according to the information in the examples, are listed in the following table:
