Fig. 4 zeigt eine teilweise Seitenansicht zu Fig. 3.
Luggage rack for attachment to the roof of an automobile The invention relates to a luggage rack for attachment to the roof of an automobile, which is characterized in that the part intended for supporting the luggage is a plate, and that in addition to supports for attachment to the roof of the automobile, there are also connecting parts for the Attachment of longer legs are available, which allow the use of the luggage rack as a table.
Further details emerge from the claims, from the following description and the associated drawing, in which an embodiment example of the subject matter of the invention is illustrated.
1 shows a vertical cross section of a luggage rack mounted on the automobile roof, viewed in the direction of travel of the automobile.
Fig. 2 shows part of the luggage rack of Fig. 1 in side view.
Fig. 3 is a section corresponding to FIG. 1 of the luggage rack when it is used as a cam ping table.
Fig. 4 shows a partial side view of Fig. 3. The luggage rack shown has two side parts 1, which are connected to each other by transverse connec tion pipes 2 and 2 '. The side parts each consist of two parallel ver running pipe sections, which are connected by semicircular arches 1 '.
On the side parts 1, a plate 6 made of metal, plastic, plywood or similar material Ma is attached, which runs along the one pipe section and the arches 1 'to approximately the middle of the arches. Due to the curved end portions of the plate 6, the surface formed by this plate is bounded for the luggage in front and behind. The transverse connecting pipes 2 are open on the sides and allow the introduction of pipe sections 4 bent at an angle.
The pipe pieces 4 are used to introduce supports 7, by means of which the luggage rack can be supported in the channel 8 of an automobile roof, so that the plate 6 is on the underside of the side parts 1, as shown in FIGS. The cross tubes 2 as well as the angularly bent pipe pieces 4 are provided with fixing screws 3 and 5, with which the position of the angularly bent pipe pieces 4 of the supports 7 is secured.
To use the luggage rack described as a camping table (FIGS. 3 and 4), the luggage rack is removed from the roof of the automobile; the fixing screws 3 are loosened and then the angularly bent pipe sections 4 are pivoted upwards by about 160 in FIG. By loosening the fixing screws 5, the supports 7 are pulled out of the pipe sections 4, and longer legs 9, which serve as table legs, are inserted into the pipe sections 4. The plate 6 now serves as a table top on the top of the side parts 1 (Fig. 3 and 4).
The legs 9 are expediently seen at their ends with rubber buffers 10 ver. In the example shown, the legs 9, which are formed by tubes, have the same outer diameter as the angularly bent tube pieces 4 and are provided with tapered ends 11 which can be pushed into the tube pieces 4.
As a result, apart from the pleasing look, in particular the advantage that the shoulder between the tapered part 11 and the leg 9 forms a stop in a simple manner that allows the length of the table legs to be set the same size without effort. However, if z. If, for example, the leg length is changed on uneven ground in order to adapt to the ground, the individual lengths can easily be adjusted individually by loosening and tightening the fixing screws 5.
The luggage rack described has the advantage when it is attached to the roof of the automobile that, in contrast to known luggage racks, the plate 6 is also suitable for placing smaller objects which would otherwise fall through between the usual bars serving as a support. The presence of this plate makes the Ge carrier in the manner described as a table z. B. can be used for camping purposes.
The design of the connecting parts 4 for the supports 7 and legs 9 as angularly bent pipe pieces, which are inserted into the cross tubes of the luggage rack and pivotable in this, the simultaneous use of these connecting parts for both types of supports is made possible in a simple manner. Advantageously, the pipes 2 as well as the pipe sections 4 can be seen with stops ver, which limit the pivoting movement of the angularly bent pipe sections 4 and thus set the conditions provided for both purposes Stellun.
The described shape of the side parts has the advantage that it gives the luggage rack significant strength, which has a beneficial effect on its carrying capacity.
This strength can be increased by attaching struts 12 (Fig. 4), which connect the two parallel pipe sections of the side part 1, he still.
The arches 1 'of the side parts have in cooperation with the curved ends of the plate 6 to additionally increase the stability not only of the plate, but also of the rack as a whole. In the case of the plate 6 firmly connected to the side parts 1, the transverse tubes 2 'may possibly be dispensed with.
