Description

  Une butée 11 est     fixée    à la plaque de base 1  pour     limiter    les déplacements angulaires du levier  de guidage 7 dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre,  suivant la     fila.    1. Un ressort 12 fixé à la cheville 5  tend à faire constamment     tourner    le levier 7 dans le  sens des aiguilles d'une montre     (fila.    1) ;

Apparatus for Threading a Needle The present invention relates to an apparatus for threading a sewing or embroidery needle.

Until now, the threading of needles was done, most of the time, by hand, which is inefficient and requires practice and skill; great skill is particularly necessary when it comes to threading a large number of needles at one time, as is the case in an embroidery machine.

The object of the present invention is to remedy the drawbacks of manual threading by providing a relatively simple apparatus capable of threading needles easily and quickly.

Another object of the invention is to provide an apparatus which can be used by non-specialized operators, capable of enabling a large number of needles to be quickly threaded, and adaptable to a machine to contribute to the automation of the needle. threading the needles.

The apparatus is characterized, according to the invention, in that it comprises a base plate and a cover plate each provided with a threading slot, a guide lever pivoted by one of its ends on said support plate. base and provided at its free end with a hooked part capable of passing freely through the eye of the threading needle, said guide lever being rotatable by the eye of said needle when the latter is subjected to a movement longitudinal, the slots being arranged symmetrically facing each other on opposite sides of the plane of rotation of the guide lever and on the rotational path of the hooked part,

and these slots being intended to hold the thread to be threaded together, the hooked part of the guide lever driven in rotation by the longitudinal movement of the needle being obliged to pass through the eye of the needle and, by a subsequent rotation, to keep hooked the thread held between the slits, then by a subsequent rotation of the guide lever to withdraw through the eye until the first side of the needle with the thread hooked on it. drives through the eye.

Fig. 1 is an elevational view, with a part cut away, of an embodiment of the needle threading apparatus of the invention; fig. 2 is a sectional view along the line II-II of FIG. 1; fig. 3 is a sectional view taken along line III-III of the fia. 1; and the fia. 4 is a sectional view along the line IV-IV of FIG. 1.

The support of the embodiment of the apparatus consists of a base plate 1, a cover plate 2 arranged parallel to the base plate 1 and fixed to the latter by a screw 4 keeping a certain distance between the two, and a bar 3 disposed parallel to a support member (not shown) and perpendicular to the tail of the cover plate 2 which is fixed to this bar. Said bar 3 is supported so that it can rotate around its axis and, in addition, that it can move to the left and to the right according to FIGS. 1 and 2.

The movements of rotation and translation to the left and to the right of this bar 3 can be carried out automatically by mechanical actuation means (not shown), or by hand.

In the space existing between the base plate 1 and the cover plate 2 is arranged a guide lever 7, the free end of which is provided with a hook 6 and the other end of which is pivoted on a pin 5 planted in the base plate 1 and in the cover plate 2. This guide lever 7 has a thickness such that it can pass freely through the eye 14 of a sewing needle (or an embroidery needle) placed into the spinning apparatus.

The outer end (i.e. the right end of fila. 1 and 2) of base plate 1 is provided with a curved rear part 8, curved towards the side of cover plate 2 and folded back towards the fixed end of said cover plate 2. A certain space is left free between the free end of the cover plate 2 and the free end of this curved part 8 of the base plate, from so that a needle can pass through with sufficient play.

Stepped cutouts 2a and 1a are made respectively at the outer end of the cover plate 2 and in the part of the base plate 1 which is opposite this end; these stepped cutouts 2a and 1a are arranged opposite one another and symmetrically so as to form a groove for accommodating therein a threading needle.

Approximately in the center of the rearwardly curved part 8 and of the end part of the base plate 1 facing said rearwardly curved part 8 are provided threading slots 9, 9 of converging shape s 'extending upwardly at an inclined angle with respect to the outer edge of said portions, as shown more clearly in la fila. 1.

The inner ends of these threading slots 9, 9 communicate with corresponding holes 10, 10 for receiving the thread, made in the base plate 1 and in the part bent towards the rear 8 in places located at the rear. inside the radius of rotation of the hooked part 6 of the guide lever 7.

  A stop 11 is fixed to the base plate 1 in order to limit the angular movements of the guide lever 7 in the direction of clockwise, along the line. 1. A spring 12 fixed to the pin 5 tends to constantly turn the lever 7 clockwise (fila. 1);

this tendency to turn can be counteracted by a lock 13, carried by the base plate 1 so that it can be thrown out and brought back to a relative position such that, at the time of withdrawal of the needle a, as will be seen better below, when the guide lever 7 forced to rotate by the eye 14 frees itself from said eye of the needle a which is withdrawn, the lock 13 blocks the guide lever 7 which normally remains locked in this way when it is at rest.

Reference numerals 14a and 14b denote depressions generally formed on the left and right sides of the eye 14 of needle a.

The apparatus described operates as follows: When a thread threaded through a needle breaks for any reason, this breakage can be easily reported, both in the case of a sewing machine and in the case of a sewing machine. an embroidery machine (in the latter case, the machine can advantageously be provided with automatic signaling means such as a bell or a flashing indicator lamp).

If the machine is fitted with the apparatus described, the latch 13 is removed (downwards in fila. 2) by a mechanism operated by hand or by other suitable means such as an electromagnetic mechanism (not shown) brought into operation. operated by the automatic signaling and control system. The guide lever which until then was blocked by the latch 13 is released and forced to rotate by the spring 12 clockwise (fila. 1) until it is stopped by the stopper 11.

When the needle-threading apparatus which is in the position described above is rotated by the rotation of the bar 3 towards the needle side a, the end of the bent backward portion 8 of the base plate 1 and the end of the cover plate 2 go through the opposite sides of the needle o. with sufficient play, so that by relative effect, the needle a penetrates into the space comprised between these two ends. The device is then moved with bar 3 to the right (fila.

1 and 2), after which the needle a is surrounded on three sides by the aforementioned groove formed by the step cutouts 1a and 2a in the base plate 1 and in the cover plate 2. Therefore, if the needle a is advanced in advance in a suitable position, the hooked part 6 of the guide lever 7 enters its eye 14. This phase of the operation is shown in the fila. 1.

On the one hand, a strand of thread b extracted from a spool (not shown) is introduced through the threading slots 9, 9 of the base plate 1 into the holes 10, 10 intended to receive it, a certain length of wire being left surplus.

When subsequently, the apparatus, the needle and the thread being in the situation described above, the needle a is withdrawn, the guide lever 7 is actuated by the eye 14 of the needle and rotates in the counterclockwise (fila. 1) against the action of spring 12. When the needle has reached approximately the middle of its retreat course, the hooked part 6 of the guide lever 7 passes through eye 14 to the opposite side. When then the withdrawal of the needle a continues, the rotation of the guide lever 7 which results therefrom by its hooked part 6 hooks the thread b stretched between the holes 10, 10.

A subsequent withdrawal of the needle a causes a subsequent rotation of the guide lever 7, so that its hooked part 6 still keeping the thread strand b hooked, begins to come out of the eye 14, and the guide lever 7 exceeds the lock 13 and remains blocked by the latter. The active end of the lock 13 has an inclined surface (fila. 2), so as to facilitate the passage of the guide lever 7.

When the guide lever 7 is blocked by the latch 13, the hooked part 6 of said lever is almost entirely out of the eye 14 as shown in double lines in FIG. 1, and the strand of thread b coming from the spool has passed through eye 14 almost entirely.

After the device has been moved to the left (according to fig. 1 and 2), the needle a is advanced. Consequently, and since the guide lever 7 is blocked by the latch 13, the wire strand b which, having been hooked by the hooked part 6 at the top of the guide lever 7, is stretched between said hooked part 6 and the holes 10, 10, tenses more and more as the needle advances, so that the part of the thread which is on the spool side from the hooked part 6 is pressed by the eye 14 and withdrawn from the spool.

At this moment, the part of the thread going from the hooked part 6 to the end of the strand becomes progressively shorter as the needle advances; it would eventually slide out of hooked part 6 if it got too short. However, if this strand of wire is long enough, it will not come out of the eye 14 on the side of the spool.

On the other hand, the part of the thread extending from the hooked part 6 through the hole 10 to the spool slips out of the threading slot 9 during the last part of the needle advance. the inclination of this threading slot 9.

The entrance to this threading slot 9 and the end part of the device which is contiguous to this entrance are preferably rounded as indicated in FIG. 1, so as to facilitate the exit of the thread from said slot. Threading of the needle a is now complete and the sewing or embroidery operation can be started again.
