Description

  Das elektrische     Heizelement    gemäss vorliegender  Beschreibung hat den besonderen Vorteil, dass alle  elektrischen Verbindungen an einem Ende     des        Heiz-          bandes    angebracht sind;     Idas        Heizband    kann     äusserst         dünn und flach hergestellt werden,     und,es    werden zu  seiner Verkleidung gewebeartige     Materialien    ver  wandt;

Electric Heating Bath The present invention relates to an electric heating tape.

The previously known heating resistors consist of a more or less fine, thin wire made of conductive material. However, this has the disadvantage that the often very thin heating wire usually has a small surface and the heat radiation emanating from it is therefore quite concentrated and creates zones of very different temperatures in its vicinity. The heat distribution is therefore extremely uneven. Also: the flexibility and the service life of the wire-shaped heating elements often leave a lot to be desired.

It has been proposed to design a heating element as a flexible, flat band. Such a band-shaped heating element has the advantage that the body works even at a lower temperature than with known heating elements in which the heating element cuts a fine wire. The heat is better distributed and the heating tape has a longer service life because this heating element is more robust than a heating element made from a fine wire.

It has already been provided that such an elastic heating tape is provided with a return conductor from one end of the heating tape back to the other, so that both connection points of the heating tape are at one end instead of attaching a connection point at each end of the heating tape,

how this would be obvious. The attachment of both connection points at only one end of the tape is very advantageous for making electrical connections to the tape.

Furthermore, this attachment has the advantage that when the tape is switched off, it is also completely de-energized, while a connection at both ends of the tape requires that both ends are also switched off to ensure that the Band is not in contact with a charged line.

Against this, however, there are disadvantages. The presence of a return conductor in a heating band with a line in the form of a simple feed line causes problems in connection with a corresponding insulation of the return conductor, in view of the temperature conditions that are decisive when the heating band is operated. In addition, the supply line is much thicker than the band-shaped radiator and thus makes the band extensive.

This fact is exacerbated when the length of the tape is increased in order to: Provide an appropriate return line for the electrical current.

The aim of the present invention is to eliminate these disadvantages.

This is achieved according to the invention in that the heating band has a pair of band-shaped, narrow side to narrow side with the interposition of an electrically insulating cord parallel to each other, arranged, flexible resistance heating elements, which are covered with an electrically insulating material and connected to one another at one end around their have opposite end electrical connection means.

The attached drawing shows, for example, embodiments of the subject matter of the invention.

Fig. 1 shows a heating tape according to the present invention, .thas is attached around a drum.

Figure 2 is a broken away perspective view of the heating tape of the present invention.

3 is a cross-section through the heating tape at one of its ends along section line 3-3 in FIG. 2. FIG. 4 is a section view along section line 4-4 in FIG.

FIG. 5 is a sectional view taken along section line 5-5 in FIG. 3.

Figure 6 shows how the end of one radiator can be attached to the opposite end for electrical connection to the other radiator.

Figure 7 is a partial perspective view of the use of a magnet to secure the end of the tape when it is to be attached over or on a ferromagnetic body.

Fig. 8 is a schematic sectional view showing the possibility of how the ends of the radiators can be formed when these radiator parts are soldered or welded together.

The individual band-shaped resistance heating elements 20 and 22, e.g. B. from a nickel-chromium alloy or nickel-chromium-iron alloy or nickel-chromium-copper-iron-manganese alloy are shown in FIGS. 2-6. These parts are individually clad by cladding 24 around 26, which consist of textile fabric or mesh, if possible of asbestos or quartz fibers.

In the case of heating tapes, the temperatures of which do not exceed a certain, fixed height, the cladding can also consist of fire-resistant glass.

The heating elements 20 and 22 with the corresponding panels 24 and 26 are coated with a rubber-like layer 28 (not shown in FIG. 5), which advantageously contains silicon rubber or another plastic material, which is resistant to high temperatures.

This layer enables the heating tape to be used in places where moisture or the like comes into contact with the tape and could penetrate the cladding.

If such a layer is used, the temperature of the heating element is limited to around 260 C, but the exact nature of the layer and the impregnation material is decisive. If the heating tape is to work at high temperatures and temperatures of up to 1100 C are to be achieved , it is not advisable to provide the cladding with another layer: or impregnation.

The two parts of the radiator and the cladding are placed narrow side to narrow side, with an intermediate cord 30 being attached. The cord 30 and the two panels, which are both sides of this cord, are then glued together by means of a tape 32 ver. The adhesive can contain the same material as is used for the panels.

If so desired, Idas tape can then be coated with layer 28, i. H. the impregnation material, ver, or the entire process of bringing the layer to can be done after the connecting tape 32 has been attached. The connecting tape 32 and the cord 30 give the heating tape a considerable additional stretch resistance and also wear the two sides of the tape, electrically isolated and at a distance from one another.

The heating tape described can be produced in continuous length and then wound up. If now individual heating tapes are to be produced, the desired length of the double tape can then be unrolled from the supply reel and cut off. The ends of the tape are connected to one another and insulated on one side, and a plug or individual electrical connections are attached to the two ends of the heating element on the opposite side.

In Fig. 2 it is shown how the two parts 20 and 22 of the band-shaped radiator are connected to one another at 34. The connection can be made by rivets 36, as shown in FIG. 6, or by soldering or welding, as shown in FIG. 8 at 38.

A good connection between the two parts of the radiators 20, 22 by overlapping the ends of the radiators prevents overheated Stel len at the end of the tape. At their other end, the two bands 20 and 22 of the heating body have connecting links 40, which in turn are connected to lines 42. The lines 42 can lead to individual connectors, such as Ba nanenplugs, or to the contact points of a plug 44, which advantageously have locking con tacts 46.

The opposite ends of the band so produced are provided with a rubber-like body 48 which is cemented on, as indicated by the cement layer 50 (FIG. 2). The rubber-like body 48 has an opening at the connecting end of the belt through which the lines 42 are passed.

At the other end of the banjes, a piece of wire 52 or the like is provided which is passed through the relevant C opening in the end of the rubber-like body 48 and is knotted at 54 inside the body or attached to a rail 56. Outside the rubber-like body 48, the wire 52 is also knotted or attached to a button 58 or the like.

The line 42 and the wire 52 can be used in front of geous for wearing the heating tape on a Kör, such as a drum 10, who the, z. B. using magnetic members 60 which, as can be seen from Fig. 7, contain magnetic elements 62 which are held between the legs 64, so that the magnetic member comes to lie like a bridge over the aforementioned lines and thus the tape any ferromagnetic body.

  The electrical heating element according to the present description has the particular advantage that all electrical connections are attached to one end of the heating tape; The heating tape can be made extremely thin and flat, and fabric-like materials are used to cover it;

it can also be extremely flexible and, if necessary, also waterproof. The tapes can be of any length and width as far as possible, whereby the size naturally depends on the voltage of the existing power source and the power you want to use.

In addition to the aforementioned glass, asbestos and quartz: synthetic fibers such as Fiberfrax can be used to make the cladding; the yarns or threads from which the textile covering is made can also be reinforced with fine threads made of Inconel or stainless steel. This is of particular interest for large belts and for belts that are subject to heavy wear.

It is also conceivable that a double heating band can be made which is essentially rigid by providing the insulated double: band with a rigid metal cladding. This could also: The same advantages can be achieved with regard to the production of electrical connections at only one end of the tape, and the cumbersome return conductor can also be omitted.

The use of the electric heating tape according to the invention is shown in FIG. 1, for example. A drum or a similar container 10 is shown here which is to be heated. Such a drum can contain tar or other material that is to be kept at a certain temperature.

A heating tape 12 according to the invention is wound around the drum and ends at its lower end in a plug 14 which is attached to the end of a cord 18 in a coupling 16. The cord can be connected to a power source with another plug.
