<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Advertising panel The present invention relates to an advertising panel, comprising a removable frame whose opening is closed by at least one translucent plate.
Numerous panels of this type are already known, constituting in particular illuminated signs, but which all have the drawback of being assembled by screws or bolts visible from the outside, whether these panels are mounted at a certain distance from the ground. or on the contrary inside shop windows.
The present invention, which precisely aims to obviate this drawback, relates to an advertising panel characterized by the fact that at least one of the horizontal uprights of its frame has, at least at each end of its face internal, two longitudinal grooves facing each other between which is inserted with gentle friction, a lug integral with the adjacent vertical upright, these elements, tab and grooves, being intended, by cooperation, to prevent any transverse relative displacement of the horizontal upright with respect to the upright corresponding vertical, and by the fact that each vertical upright carries at least one rod sliding vertically in guide members and in contact at one end with the internal face of said horizontal upright,
means for applying this rod to this horizontal upright with sufficient force to prevent any longitudinal displacement of this upright relative to the adjacent vertical upright.
The accompanying drawings show, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the present invention. FIG. 1 is a front view of a panel according to the invention; fig. 2 is a plan view of this panel; fig. 3 is a section along III-III of FIG. 1 and, FIG. 4 a section along IV-IV of Figure 3. In the drawing (fig. 1 and 2), the advertising panel comprises a frame formed of four uprights, two horizontal, 1 and 2, and two vertical, 3 and 4, the opening of this frame being closed by two translucent plates 5 and 6 bearing advertising motifs not shown.
This panel will preferably include a light source, also not shown, arranged between the plates 5 and 6.
The sign shown is intended to constitute an illuminated sign, for example being fixed above the entrance to a store, approximately three meters from the ground. It is arranged so that, to an observer looking at it, the visible faces of its frame are absolutely smooth and that there are no apparent assembly screws.
Such screws do exist but are only visible when looking at the panel from above, as illustrated by FIG. 2 in which these screws are indicated by the reference 2a.
To this end, the various uprights constituting the frame of the panel are formed by light metal sections each comprising, on the one hand, two longitudinal grooves, 7 and 8, extending in the vicinity of the edges of each section and intended to receive the marginal part of the corresponding side of the translucent plates 5 and 6, and, on the other hand, two other grooves 9 and 10, facing each other through their opening, and whose upper surface is slightly wavy, as shown in Figure 3.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In the grooves 9 and 10 which each upright of the frame has, is engaged, at each end thereof, a wing of an L-shaped angle iron engaged, by its other wing, with the grooves 9 and 10 of the adjacent upright.
The length of these angles corresponds to the distance separating the bottom of the grooves 9 and 10 of each section.
In the panel shown, these angles are 4 in number, and are fixed, by their vertical flange, two by two to the uprights 3 and 4. In fig. 3 and 4, the angles are indicated by the references 11 and 12. They are fixed to the corresponding vertical upright by two small screws not passing through the wall of these uprights.
The angles 11 and 12 therefore ensure, by cooperation with the grooves 9 and 10 presented by the uprights 1 and 2, the transverse locking of these uprights with respect to the uprights 3 and 4.
When the panel is fully assembled, the uprights 1 and 2 are also locked longitudinally with respect to the uprights 3 and 4: for this purpose, each of these uprights, 3 or 4, carries a bracket comprising two parallel and vertical rods 13 connected to their upper part by a common bar 14 and engaged by their lower end each in an opening 15a provided at each end of a stud 15 integral with the angle bar 12, this angle bar being pierced with openings 12a formed in line with the openings 15a.
The two rods 13 are therefore in contact via their lower end face with the internal surface of the horizontal upright 1.
The connecting bar 14 has to the right of each rod 13 a housing 14a in which is engaged a sleeve 2b fixed on the internal face of the horizontal upright 2 and passing through a corresponding opening made in the horizontal flange of the angle iron 11.
The opening of each sleeve 2b is internally threaded and it is precisely in the four sleeves that the horizontal upright 2 carries that the screws 2a previously indicated and represented in FIG. 2 are taken.
Each of these screws is in contact by its end with the bottom of the housing 14a in which the sleeve 2b is engaged: it is therefore possible, by imparting to the screws 2a a determined screwing force, to exert on the four rods 13 that comprises the frame of the panel shown, an axial force sufficient to block the horizontal upright 1 longitudinally relative to the vertical uprights 3 and 4.
The horizontal upright 2 is, for its part, blocked longitudinally as soon as the sockets 2b with which it is provided are introduced into the corresponding openings of the angle iron 11 with which each upright 3 or 4. The assembly of the panel frame is described. is therefore carried out very simply without requiring the use of special tools and can be carried out by uninformed persons, in particular whenever it is a question of replacing one or the other of the plates, 5 or 6, or else the lighting source that such a panel usually comprises.
The advertising panel described can also be placed in a display case: in this case, the screws 2a will be mounted on the lower horizontal upright of the frame, that is to say the upright by which the panel will rest on its support, shelf or bottom window for example.
