Method for controlling a hydrodynamic brake, particularly in rail locomotives. The invention relates to a method for controlling a hydrodynamic brake, particularly in rail locomotives, and to a device for carrying out the method.
The performance of hydrodynamic brakes, which are used as vehicle brakes in rail locomotives, must be controllable over a wide range. At low speeds, high braking powers should be achieved and at high speeds, very small braking powers should also be able to be set.
The performance of a given hydrodynamic brake is a function of the amount of fluid circulated in the circuit in the unit of time. The amount of fluid circulated in turn depends on the brake speed. To control the output of a hydrodynamic brake, the amount of liquid circulated in the unit of time must therefore be changed.
So far, the performance of such hydrodynamic brakes has mainly been controlled by changing their filling. As a result of the requirement for high braking performance at low speeds, the brakes must be adequately dimensioned accordingly, so that low performance can only be achieved with a very low degree of filling at high speeds. In addition to the need for a precisely working and thus complex filling and emptying device, the braking performance is unstable when the filling level is low due to unfavorable flow conditions. H. the braking power fluctuates very strongly despite the constant filling level and constant speed.
The object of the present invention is to develop a method for the power control of a hydrodynamic brake that enables even small braking powers to be precisely maintained over the entire speed range, i.e. H. to change the amount of liquid circulated in the cycle in the unit of time without the disadvantages that occur due to a too low degree of filling.
According to the invention, this object was achieved in that to control the amount of liquid circulating in the circuit in the unit of time and thus the braking torque of a hydrodynamic brake when the circuit is constantly full by a centrifugal pump, the dynamic pressure in the circuit by removing liquid from the circuit Surface of the liquid ring is controlled.
In addition to the removal of liquid, the amount of liquid circulating in the unit of time can be changed by pushing an annular wall into the circuit.
A device for performing this procedural rens has a hydraulic servomotor with a double-acting piston on an annular wall arranged coaxially to the brake housing for moving an annular wall which protrudes into the circuit of the brake.
In a further development of the invention, the Vorrich device can contain a control slide and a throttle slide for the fluid withdrawal and a further .Steuer slide for the servomotor, both of which are operated by a brake line selector, so that when the braking power selector is set from low to high braking power first the control slide for the removal throttle slide is moved in the closing direction of the removal throttle slide and then with the removal throttle slide closed the control slide for the servomotor is moved in the disengaging direction of the annular wall.
In order to avoid overloads and damage to the engine parts, the braking power should be limited over the entire speed range to a value that roughly corresponds to the highest driving performance. This can be achieved by a speed sensor with a throttle slide to generate a control pressure that is dependent on the brake shaft speed and acts on the two control slide pistons so that a maximum braking power is not exceeded.
In the drawing, an exemplary embodiment of a control device of a hydrodynamic brake according to the invention is shown schematically and explained in the description below.
The hydrodynamic brake 11 consists of a brake rotor 12 with primary blades 13 and a brake stator 14 with secondary blades 15 and 16. The brake rotor 12 is seated on a brake shaft 17 which is coupled to the vehicle engine. The brake stator and rotor are arranged in a brake housing 18 in which the brake shaft 17 is also mounted. An annular space 19 in the brake housing 18 is used to supply brake fluid through several filling pipes 20 evenly distributed over the circumference into the core of the brake circuit.
In a free space between the secondary blades 15 and 16, an annular wall 21 with a slightly conical outer shell can be pushed. Brake fluid can escape from the circuit through an annular gap 22 between the outer jacket of the annular wall, the width of which depends on the position of the annular wall. The annular wall sits on a hub 23 which is mounted on a tubular Lagerkör arranged in the brake housing by 24 so that it can be axially slid.
In the brake housing there is also a hydraulic servomotor 25, consisting of a piston 26 on the annular wall hub 23 and the pressure chambers 27 and 28 for moving and holding the annular wall 21. The pressure chamber 27 is separated by an intermediate housing wall 29 from a chamber 30 which accommodates the annular wall 1 in the retracted state and which also serves as a collection chamber for the brake fluid emerging from the brake circuit through the annular gap 22.
To move the annular wall, pressurized fluid is fed to the pressure chamber 27 or 28 via lines 31 or 32 from a control slide 33. The control slide 33 contains a control piston 34 with the control edges 35 and 36. The control piston 34 is pressed by a spring 37 between the control slide housing 38 and an actuating piston 39 arranged on the control piston 34 in the direction of engagement of the annular wall 21. An intermediate wall 40 of the control slide housing 38 forms a pressure chamber 41 with the actuating piston 39. The control slide 33 also contains an axially displaceable control sleeve 42 with control openings 43 and 44 and an inflow opening 45.
Through a return guide rod 46 on the servomotor piston 26, an angle lever 47 and a spring 48 between the control sleeve 42 and the spool valve housing 38, the annular wall movement is transmitted to the control sleeve 42.
A throttle slide 50 is used to control the brake fluid exiting through the annular gap 22 from the brake circuit into the space 30 and into a removal line 49. This consists of a housing 51, a slide bushing 52 with inflow openings 53 and throttle openings 54 and a throttle slide piston 55 with control edge 56 which is pressed by a spring 57 in the closing direction of the throttle slide. The throttle slide piston 55 forms a pressure chamber 58 with the slide housing 51 and the slide bushing 52. A control slide 59 for the throttle slide 50 is assembled with the throttle slide 50.
It consists of a control piston 60 with control edge 61 and the throttle slide piston 55 as a control sleeve with an inlet opening 62 for the control pressure medium and a control opening 53 as an inlet opening to the pressure chamber 58. The control piston is pressed by a spring 64 in the closing direction of the throttle slide and forms with the Throttle slide piston 55 has a further pressure chamber 65 with an inflow opening 66.
The common operation of the control slide 33 for the hydraulic annular wall actuator 25 and the control slide 59 for the throttle slide 50 is a braking power selector 67. This can be set directly by a hand lever 68 or by a hydraulic, pneumatic or electrical remote transmission. At the braking power selector 67, the desired braking power is set and transferred from this to an adjusting rod 69 in a corresponding longitudinal movement, with increasing braking power upwards. A lever 70 articulated on the upright rod 69 holds the control piston 60 against the force of the spring 64 in a position corresponding to the power set on the braking power selector 67.
From a medium braking power, the control piston 60 is in its lower end position and the throttle valve is closed. Another lever 72 loaded by a spring 71 pulls the slide piston 33 against the force of the spring 37 into its lower end position, which corresponds to the position of the annular wall 21 fully engaged in the circuit. From an average braking power this lever is pushed upwards by the control rod 69 so that the control piston 34 and thus the annular wall 21 assumes a position corresponding to the braking power set.
To limit the braking power, a speed sensor in the form of a centrifugal force regulator 73 is arranged on the brake shaft 17, which acts on a throttle slide 74. The throttle slide 74 consists of a housing 75 with a relief opening 76 and an overflow groove 77 and a slide piston 78 with control edges 79 and 80, which forms two pressure chambers 81 and 82 in the housing 75 and is pressed with a spring 83 against the centrifugal governor.
As the speed of the brake shaft 17 increases, the centrifugal regulator 73 pushes the slide piston 78 to the right until the control edge 79 allows the pressure medium located in the pressure chamber 81 to pass through the overflow groove 77 into the pressure chamber 82. As a result of the pressure that forms in the pressure chamber 82, the slide piston 78 is pushed to the left again against the centrifugal governor 73 until the control edge 80 and relief opening 76 allow control pressure medium to escape from the pressure chamber 82.
Since a control pressure dependent on the speed of the brake shaft is formed in the pressure chamber 82. The pressure chamber 82 is via line 84 with the pressure chambers 41 and 65 of the control slide 33 and 59 in connection.
The springs 37 and 64 of the spool 33 and 59 are dimensioned so that when the maximum permissible braking power is exceeded, the control pressure in the pressure areas 41 and 65, the spring force corresponding to the current position of the control pistons 34 and 60 predominates and these control pistons in the direction of lower braking power pushes.
The brake circuit is supplied with the brake fluid from a reservoir 85 by a centrifugal pump 86 via an electromagnetically switchable filling valve 87 and filling line 88 from the actuator 67. The control slide 33, 59 and 74 are supplied from the reservoir 85 by a gear pump 89 via the line 90 with the .Steuerdruckmittel.
Operation of the hydrodynamic brake and the brake control: When the brake is switched off (zero position of the braking power selector 67), the filling valve 87 is closed, the control piston 60 is pushed into its upper end position by the lever 70, the control edge 61 releases the control opening 63, the control pressure medium in line 90 enters the pressure chamber 58 and pushes the throttle slide piston 55 against the spring 57 into its upper end position, which results in the greatest flow cross-section of the throttle opening 54, whereby the brake circuit is completely emptied. Furthermore, the spring 71 pulls the control piston 34 into its lower end position via the lever 72.
The control edge 36 releases the control opening 44, the control pressure medium from line 90 reaches the pressure chamber 28 of the hydraulic servomotor 25 via line 32, the piston 26 of which engages the annular wall 21 completely into the brake circuit.
In the braking position of the braking power selector 67, z. B. for the smallest braking power, the filling valve 87 is geöff net and the brake circuit from the reservoir 85 through the centrifugal pump 86 via filling power 88, ring space 19 and filling pipes 20 supplied brake fluid. The centrifugal filling pump is designed in such a way that the brake circuit is completely filled and remains filled in spite of the further fully open throttle slide 50. Because of the large amount withdrawn from the circuit when the throttle slide 50 is fully open, no significant dynamic pressure can build up in the circuit.
Since through and through the reduction in size of the effective brake circuit through the fully engaged ring wall 21, only a small amount of fluid is circulated in the brake circuit in the unit of time. As a result, a low but constant braking power can be maintained even at high braking speeds.
When this braking power selector 67 is set for higher braking power, the control rod 69 is moved upwards, the lever 70 allows the control piston, which is under the pressure of the spring 64, to move downwards, the control opening 63 is released, the pressure chamber 58 is relieved and the throttle slide moves across the piston under the pressure of the spring 57 down until the control port 63 is closed again ver. The flow cross-section of the throttle opening 54 is reduced by the control edge 56, which increases the dynamic pressure and thus the braking power in the brake circuit.
Approximately in the middle position of the brake power selector 67, the throttle opening 54 is completely closed by the throttle slide piston 55, in the brake circuit there is a correspondingly high dynamic pressure, which results in a corresponding braking power.
When the braking power selector 67 is set to higher braking power, the control rod 69 presses the lever 72 correspondingly far upwards against the spring 71. The control piston 34 is brought into a corresponding position by the spring 37, the control edge 35 allows the control pressure medium to pass from the line 90 through the control opening 43 via line 31 into the pressure chamber 27 of the hydraulic servomotor, at the same time the pressure chamber 28 of the servomotor 25 is routed 32, control opening 44 and control edge 36 relieved.
The servomotor piston 26 pulls the annular wall 21 out of the brake circuit until the control openings 43 and 44 are closed again by the movement of the control bushing 42 through the feedback rod 46 and angle lever 47 due to the return movement. No pressure medium can now escape from the spaces 27 and 28 through the lines 31 and 32, and the annular wall 21 is held by the actuating piston motor 26 in a position corresponding to the position of the control piston 34 of the control slide 33. This increases the effective brake circuit and thus the braking power.
In the position for maximum braking power on the braking power selector 67, the annular wall 21 is completely removed from the brake circuit and the maximum braking power is generated in the brake.
So that the maximum permissible power is not exceeded in any position of the braking power selector, the control pressure medium acts with speed-dependent pressure from the throttle slide 74 in the pressure chamber 65 of the control slide 59 and in the pressure chamber 41 of the control slide 33. Depending on the current position of the control piston 60 or 34 dependent force of the springs 64 and 37 and the instantaneous speed-dependent pressure of the control means in the pressure clear 65 and 41, the control piston in the opening direction of the throttle slide 50 or the control. piston 34 pressed in the direction of engagement of annular wall 21.
