The set of elements, object of the invention is characterized in that the chamber is open at one of its ends and communicates with an inlet and an outlet, the disc valve comprises a sleeve enclosing a valve member with reverse movement. -and-com, the slide valve comprises a sleeve enclosing a reciprocating plunger member, each sleeve having corresponding external parts and of identical dimensions to be able to fit closely in said chamber, a cap being removably attached to one end of said body, in order to close the chamber and thus retain one of the valves placed as desired in said chamber.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, some embodiments of the set of elements to blowpipes, object of the invention.
Figure 1 is a plan view of a valve device comprising elements of a first embodiment.
Figure 2 is a section on a larger scale through 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a section on a larger scale through 3-3 of Figure 1.
FIG. 4 is a section similar to that of FIG. 2, of part of a device comprising other elements of this first embodiment.
Figure 5 is a section through 5-5 of Figure 4. Figure 6 is a sectional view of a device comprising elements of a second embodiment.
FIG. 7 is a sectional view of a device comprising other elements of this second embodiment.
Figure 8 is a sectional view of a device comprising elements of a variant of the set of elements of Figures 6 and 7.
The set of elements to which Figures 1 to 3 relate comprises a base plate 10 having several orifices 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 intended for the connection of different conduits. Port 11 is an inlet port, port 12 is an outlet port, and port 13 is a discharge port, ports 14 and 15 serving to communicate with the upper ends of cylindrical bores 38 machined in caps 35 closing a pair of chambers 17 and 18.
A body 16 is fixed against the upper face of the base plate 10 and presents the pair of identical chambers 17, 18 each of which comprises an upper cylindrical part 24 and a lower part of reduced diameter 19. A passage 20 communicates the bottom of the chamber. the part 19 of the chamber 17 with the inlet port 11, and a passage 21 places the upper part of the chamber 18 in communication with the discharge port 13. A passage 22 places the upper part of the chamber 17 in communication with the lower part 19 of the chamber 18 and with the outlet orifice 12. Washers seal the joints.
In the upper part 24 of each chamber 17, 18 closely fits a sleeve 26 which carries sealing washers at its upper part and at its lower part. The sleeve is provided at mid-height with a groove 27 communicating with the passage 22. An annular seal 28 of U-section is housed in the lower part of the sleeve 26 and rests on a washer 29. A similar seal 128 is provided. housed in the upper part of the sleeve and rests on a washer 129.
A cylindrical drawer 30 extends axially in the sleeve and forms tight seals with the gaskets 28, 128. An annular space 31, included between the surface of the drawer and the interior surface of the sleeve, s 'extends between the linings 28, 128. Several openings 32 formed in the sleeve 26 communicate the annular space 31 and the groove 27. The lower end of the drawer 30 has a tubular portion 33 whose wall is pierced by a plurality. of lights 34.
The caps 35 are identical and are loosely attached to the upper face of the body 16 and close the chambers 17 and 18. Each cap 35 has a boss 37 which fits tightly into the top 24 of the corresponding chamber and which abuts against the upper end of the sleeve 26 to make it bear on the bottom of this part of the chamber. The cylindrical bore 38 extends upward from the underside of the bonnet and is coaxial with the chamber 17, respectively 18. A piston 39 slides in the bore 38 and is attached to the upper end of the spool 30 at the top. by means of a screw 40. The piston 39 carries a sealing washer 41 held in position by a washer 42.
The diameter of the piston 39 is larger than that of the spool 30.
The body 16 has a passage 43 communicating the orifice 14 of the base plate 10 with a passage 44 of the cap 35 opening into the upper end of the cylindrical bore 38. Passages similar to the passages 43 and 44 establish the passage. communication between port 15 in the base plate and the upper end of the cylindrical bore extending from cap 35 of chamber 18.
The body 16 and the caps 35 are secured in place by screws 45 which pass through openings in the caps and screw into the base plate. Some of these screws also pass through openings in the body 16.
The device to which figures 4 and 5 relate comprises a base plate 10 and the body 16 which the device of figures 1 to 3 comprises.
In the upper part of larger diameter 62 of each chamber 17 (18) of the body 16 is closely fitted a sleeve 63 having at mid-height a groove 64 communicating with a passage of the body 16 corresponding to the passage 22, respectively 21 of the device. Figures 1 to 3. An annular gasket 65 carried by the upper end of the sleeve 63, is surmounted by a washer 66, on which rests a boss of a cap closing the chamber 17. The lower part of the inner wall of the sleeve 63 has four longitudinal grooves 67. The sleeve 63 also has four slots 68 which establish communication between the bore of the sleeve and the groove 64.
A valve stem 69, slidably mounted in the gasket 65 and the washer 66, carries a head 70 fixed at its lower end and having an outside diameter equal to that of the bore of the sleeve. The lower side of the head 70 has a recess accommodating a rubber washer 71. A screw 72 passes through the washer and the valve head and is screwed into the valve stem to hold the various parts together. In the position shown in the drawing, the washer 71 rests on a lip 73 surrounding the edge of a central orifice of a disc 74 carried by the lower end of the sleeve 63. The lip 73 thus constitutes the seat for the head of valve 70.
A piston 76 is attached to the upper end of the valve stem 69 by means of a screw 75 and slides into the bore 38 of the bonnet 35. The piston 76 carries an annular seal 77 and a retaining washer 78.
The operation of this valve device is similar to that of Figures 1 to 3, that is to say that as long as the inlet pressure acts on the piston 76, the latter exerts a force sufficient to hold the valve head 70 on its seat and prevent the flow of fluid through the central orifice of the disc 74. If the fluid is allowed to escape from above the control piston, the fluid pressure acting under the valve head forces the latter to get up from his seat. The fluid can then flow through the grooves 67 of the sleeve and the openings to the outlet passage.
It is easy to see that in the set of elements of Figures 1 to 5, each of the two units comprising the sleeve 26, the spool 30 and the control piston 39, 42 can be withdrawn as a whole from the body 16, once the cap 35 removed, and replaced either by an identical unit or by a unit of the same dimensions, identical to those of figures 4 and 5, and comprising the sleeve 63, the disc 74, the valve 69, 70 and the control piston 76 , 78.
The device shown in Figure 7, comprises a body 80, having a chamber 81 and inlet 82 and outlet 83 passages. In the chamber is disposed a unit comprising a sleeve 184 fitted in the chamber 81 and of which one end is fitted into the end of a sleeve 84 also fitted in the chamber 81 and integral with a cover 85 closing this chamber 81 and fixed to the body 80 by means of bolts and nuts 86. The internal end of the sleeve 84 carries an annular seal 87 bearing on the one hand on a ring 88, and on the other hand on the end of the sleeve 184.
Another annular gasket 89, bearing on a washer 90, is carried by the other end of the sleeve 184. The sleeve 184 is provided with several longitudinal slots 92, opening into an annular space 181 communicating with the outlet passage 83.
A hollow cylindrical drawer 93, the outer end of which is closed, is slidably mounted in the gaskets 87, 89 and their respective washers 88, 90. The wall of the drawer 93 has several longitudinal slots 94. A piston rod 95, of which one end is screwed into the closed end of the drawer 93, passes through the cover 85, sealing being ensured by a stuffing-box device.
A piston 97 slipped on the rod 95 and applied against the outer end of the drawer 93 slides inside the sleeve 84. The piston 97 carries a seal 99 and its diameter is slightly larger than that of the drawer 93. The inner end of the piston rod 95 is provided with an axial channel 100, communicating through transverse openings 101 with the space between the piston 97 and the cover 85. A cap 102 has an axial throttle channel 103 is screwed onto the inner end of piston rod 95.
A piston 104, sliding in a bore 105 in a cap 106, is attached to the outer end of the piston rod 95. The diameter of the piston 104 is larger than that of the piston 97. Bolts 107 secure the cap 106 to the cover 85. A passage 108, in the cover serves for the admission of pressurized fluid to the internal face of the piston 104.
Assuming the inlet passage 82 connected to a source of pressurized fluid, the various members will be maintained in the position shown in Figure 7 in which the flow of fluid through the set of elements is prevented. Indeed, the pressure of the fluid which acts on the piston 97 and on the spool 93 is the same so that the force exerted on the piston 97 is greater than that exerted by the spool. If, however, a pressurized fluid, which may for example come from the source which feeds the inlet passage 82, is admitted into the passage 108, the piston 104 will move outward, driving the spool 93 with it.
The slots 94 of the drawer 93 will then be seen between the seals 87, 89; and the fluid can flow from the inlet passage 82 through the ports 94 and the ports 92 of the sleeve 184 to the outlet passage 83.
If it is desired to return the spool 93 to the position shown in FIG. 7, it follows to put the passage 108 to the exhaust, which then allows the piston 97 to return the spool to its position of interrupting the flow. .
The valve device shown in Figure 7 comprises the body 80 of the set, in the chamber 81 of which is mounted a valve unit 109 comprising a sleeve 110 fitted in the chamber 81 and fitted at one end into the end of a sleeve. 111, similar to the sleeve 84 described above, fitted in the chamber 81 and integral with a cover closing this chamber. Between the end of the sleeve 110 and a ring 114 carried by the sleeve 111 is disposed a seal 113. At its other end, the sleeve 110 carries a ring 115 having an annular seat 116. The sleeve 110 has longitudinal slots 117. communicating with a space surrounding the sleeve and into which the outlet passage 83 opens.
A rod 118 sliding in the seal 113 and the support ring 114 has a longitudinal bore 119 in a threaded external part of larger diameter from which a piston rod 120 is screwed. A piston 121, held pressed against the piston. end of the rod 118, is threaded on the rod 120 and slides in the cylindrical bore 112 of the sleeve 111. The internal end of the piston rod 120 is pierced with an axial channel, like the piston rod 95 described above , this channel being extended by a channel 119 communicating with the channel 82. A valve head 122, carried by the inner end of the rod 118, has a recess in which is housed an elastic washer 123 which can be applied to the seat. ring finger 116.
The valve head 122 slides in the sleeve 117 and is fixed to the rod 118 with the washer by means of a buffer 124 held in position by screws 125. At the outer end of the piston rod 120 is fixed as before a control piston 104 sliding in the bore 105 of a cap 106 fixed to the cover carrying the sleeve 111.
When a pressurized fluid is admitted under the piston 104, the valve head 122 will leave the seat 116 (against the bias of the piston 121) to assume a position where the fluid can flow through. the orifice of the ring 115, and the openings 117 to the outlet passage 83. When the fluid which is under the piston 121 will return the valve head 122 to the closed position, since the piston 121 has a diameter such as , relative to the size of the valve seat 116, that it exerts a force greater than that exerted by the head 122.
It is clear that after removing the bonnet 106, the piston 104 and unscrewing the nuts 86, the unit comprising the sleeves 184 and 84 and the spool 93 of the valve of figure 6 can be withdrawn as a whole from the body 80 and replaced by a unit of the same dimensions identical to the corresponding set of FIG. 7 comprising the sleeves 110 and 111 and the valve 118, 122.
FIG. 8 shows a device controlled by compressed air comprising elements of a variant of the set of elements of FIGS. 6 and 7 controlled by compressed air. In this variant, the cover carrying the sleeve 111 (84) has a larger diameter than the cover of the set of FIGS. 6 and 7. On this cover is fitted a cap 106a of also larger diameter. In the bore 105a slides the control piston 104a fixed on the rod 111 (95) integral with the valve, respectively the spool.
