Description

Textile goods The possibilities of producing textile goods with fashionable effects on the basis of multi-filament threads or yarns are limited.

Such threads or yarns are sensitive to tension and abrasion; they therefore require high twists or a corresponding twist in order to facilitate processing in weaving or knitting and to prevent individual capillaries from splitting open when the textiles are used. However, the economic outlay for such measures is known to be very high.

The present invention relates to a textile product made of man-made fibers or threads, which is characterized in that it is whole or. partially consists of threads or yarns which have a cross section in which the ratio of the shortest axis to the longest axis is at least 1: 5, but at most 1:30.

The surface of these so-called broad fibers is expediently provided with a groove running parallel to the fiber axis. As a result, these fibers differ to a considerable extent from smooth ribbons, which can be produced, for example, by cutting foils and, because of their smooth surface, can only be used to a limited extent.

The smooth surface would give the textile goods an undesirable feel and shine.

Such broad fibers can be produced in the manner customary for the type of fiber in question using spinnerets with profiled nozzle holes. You can also proceed in such a way that strong individual threads (wires) made of thermoplastic polymers are stamped flat with the help of rollers. With this working method, the surface can be embossed not only in the longitudinal direction, but also in the transverse direction.

Before spinning, matting agents, dyes, optical brightening agents or other chemicals can be added to the spinning mass.

If it is broad fibers or threads made of linear polymers, these structures are subjected to drawing after spinning as usual, their physical properties being considerably improved.

While in the spinning process, in which the fiber formers are dissolved in water or organic solvents, the desired grooving occurs during the spinning process in general without any special action, even if one works with smooth nozzle holes, must with Spinning broad fibers from molten spinning masses, e.g.

   B. in the manufacture of polyester or polyamide fibers, the nozzle holes are specially modified (profiled).

In spite of the additional work that this method entails, it has considerable advantages in that the cross-sections of the threads with regard to the strength and sequence of the indentations can be influenced as desired.

The broad fibers produced from a nozzle can be of identical or different design. For example, the usual round fibers as well as profile fibers or hollow fibers can be spun from one nozzle at the same time.

FIG. 1 shows a cross section through a multifilament thread with round capillary threads, FIG. 2 shows a section through a multifilament thread with broad threads and FIG. 3 shows a section through a multifilament thread with round and broad threads.

The yarns or threads produced using broad fibers can be used alone or with weaving and knitting yarns of the previously known type for the produc- tion of novel textile goods, especially for curtain and decoration fabrics, outerwear, linings, fashion fabrics and technical supplies.

Depending on the use of wide threads instead of the previously used threads made of synthetic fibers, new textile articles and product images can be produced.

The dyeing and finishing of the novel textile goods according to the invention can be carried out according to the methods known for the individual fiber types using suitable dyes.

When processing thermoplastic threads, you can still achieve special effects if the textile article is still hot embossed.

The endless broad threads can also be cut into spinnable stacks; they are therefore primarily suitable for coarse yarn counts.

Example 1 To produce a lining material, polyamide threads of 150 denier are used in the weft and warp, which do not have a round cross-section but a cross-section in which the ratio of the transverse to the longitudinal axis is 1: 5 and whereby the threads have fine grooves parallel to the fiber axis.

The lining fabric produced in this way has a fluffy, full feel, and it is extremely durable. Example 2 To produce an outerwear fabric with a fashionable character, instead of an otherwise customary yarn made of linear polyethylene terephthalate of 50 den. With 25 individual threads, a yarn of the same type is used that contains an even mixture of broad and round threads.

The broad threads have a cross section in which the ratio of transverse and longitudinal axes is about 1: 3. Instead of the round threads, threads with a different cross-sectional profile, for example with a star-shaped profile, cloverleaf-shaped profile or triangular profile, can also be used. In order to form threads that contain a lot of air or are permeable to air, preference is given to using threads whose diameter is considerably larger than the shortest diameter of the broad fibers.

The threads described above with a 50% proportion of broad fibers can be used both in the warp and in the weft or in the warp and in the weft. If the broad fibers are used in the warp,

normally 25% of the otherwise necessary warp threads can be saved. In addition to the yarns containing broad fibers, other yarns or threads with a round or angular profile can also be used.

The outer clothing material obtained according to the example contains air and is particularly pleasant to wear.
