Description

Device for controlling a conveyor belt in a fabric printing machine The present invention relates to a device for controlling a conveyor belt in a fabric printing machine, comprising a driving roller for the carpet, a motor of roller drive, a coupling between the motor and the roller and a brake capable of locking the roller, the coupling and the brake being electrically controlled.

Fabric printing machines are already known in which the fabric strip is supported and driven by a continuous belt mounted between end rollers and passing over a table. Adjacent frames are placed above the table, each intended to receive a template and equipped with inking rollers, supplied with inks or dyes of different colors. Each segment of the fabric of length equal to the width of a frame is brought successively facing the different frames so as to receive the print, of a determined color,

of the image carried by a stencil. Each advance movement of the carpet must naturally move the fabric over a determined distance with great precision and constant at each operation so that the segments that have already received the impression of one or more determined colors receive the impression of the next color exactly where you want it.

Known machines of the type mentioned above generally comprise a control device which acts directly on the driving roller of the belt itself and which decouples and brakes this roller after a number of turns or a rotation of a determined angle. However, these devices do not have sufficient precision.

Indeed, as the machines of the type mentioned can comprise a table having up to ten meters in length, and an endless belt having a width, for example of 1.80 m, it is clear that the inertia of the belt is sufficient. considerable and that, when the drive roller is blocked, the belt may slip before stopping permanently. Furthermore, variations in external conditions, in particular variations in temperature and humidity, can lead to variations in the dimensions of the belt which influence the operating precision of these known control devices.

The object of the present invention is to create a control device adaptable to a machine for printing fabrics of the type mentioned above, and in which the decoupling and the braking of the driving roller are controlled directly according to the position of the machine. belt and not depending on the orientation of the drive roller.

For this, the device forming the subject of the invention is characterized in that it comprises, mounted on an adjustable support, a trigger device capable of emitting a signal controlling the decoupling and braking of the roller, and a endless belt driven by the belt and provided with a trigger mark which, when it is in a determined position relative to the support, actuates the trigger device.

The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the device according to the invention. The only figure in this drawing is a schematic perspective view of part of a fabric printing machine equipped with said embodiment of the device.

This figure shows a horizontal table 1 on which an endless belt 2 rests, which is driven by a drive roller 3. The latter pivots on bearings (not shown) mounted at one end of the table. At the other end is located a similar roller. The shaft 4 of the roller 3 is coupled to the driven shaft of a worm gear 5 whose driving shaft carries at its outer end a movable plate 6 of a coupling whose fixed plate 7 is integral with Par - bre 8 of an electric motor 9.

The electromagnetic coupling 6. 7 shown schematically in the drawing, can be controlled by pulses transmitted by a line 10. This coupling is combined with a positive braking device also of the electromagnetic type which has not been shown in the drawing and which is designed, for example, in such a way that a pulse, following a decoupling pulse which has caused the plate 6 to move apart, presses the plate 6 against the surface of a fixed cone and causes the instantaneous blocking of the 'shaft 4 and roller 3. Along the table 1 and above it, are arranged a series of frames, the first I1 is shown in phantom in the drawing. These frames are raised above the belt 2 when the latter is in motion.

When stopped, they can be lowered and brought into contact with the strip of fabric 12 which is laid on the mat 2 and which unwinds from a support 13.

On each of the frames 11 is mounted a template representing the configuration which must be printed in a certain color on the strip of fabric 12. Once the frames 11 are pressed against the fabric 12, ink rollers (not shown) supplied with ink of different colors are each moved on one of the stencils after which, the frames will be raised and the roller 3 is coupled to the motor 9 so as to advance the fabric and the belt 2 over a distance corresponding exactly to the distance between two frames adjacent.

To ensure the stopping of the belt 2 in the exact position required, the machine described comprises a control device, the main elements of which are constituted by an endless belt 14, by a light source 15 and by a trigger device with a photoelectric cell. 16. These components are mounted on a common support consisting of a box closed on all its faces. except at its lower part, fixed to uprights, so that it can be moved in height. In this box pivot rollers 17 and 18 of horizontal axes connected to the box so that the rollers 17 can be moved at will when the strip 14 is replaced by another of different length. The box further comprises a tensioner ensuring that the strip 14 is constantly kept under tension.

All the rollers 17 and 18 are free to rotate around their axes, so that if the horizontal portion of the strip 14 which extends between the two rollers 18 is brought into contact with the belt 2 by lowering the support, this strip is driven by the friction of the belt 2 along a closed path that it travels in the counterclockwise direction seen in the drawing. The light source 15 is located inside the strip 14 behind a screen 19 provided with an opening 20. It emits through this screen a parallel light beam in the axis of which the photocell 16 is placed.

The strip 14 can be constituted, for example, by an opaque photographic film over its entire length except in two zones 21 and 22 of rectangular shape, located in the vicinity of one another along the strip. Zone 21 located in front of zone 22 in the direction of travel of the strip has, for example, a length of 8 to 10 mm over a width of approximately 15 mm, while zone 22 of the same width as zone 21 s' extends lengthwise only 1mm.

The length of the strip 14 is exactly equal to the distance that the belt 2 and the fabric 12 must advance between each print. As this strip can be replaced by a strip of different length placed after displacement of the rollers 17, the device can easily be adapted so as to operate regardless of the distance at which the belt advances between two successive operations.

It is clear that when the translucent zone 21 comes opposite the opening 20, the cell 16 is impressed and emits a current pulse. This is brought by line 10 to the coupling device 6, 7 and causes, as indicated above, the separation of the plate 6. At the same time, a start of braking takes place. The kinetic energy of moving masses therefore decreases very quickly. However, the mat 2 still advances a little, so that the zone 22 arrives opposite the opening 20. But, at this moment. a new pulse is transmitted from the cell 16 and this second pulse causes an energetic blocking of the roller 3.

The belt 2 and the fabric 12 therefore stop very exactly at the precise moment when the zone 22 is in the axis of the light beam emitted by the lamp 15. If the belt 2 tends to slide on the roller 3 when the speed of this decreases after the decoupling, the zone 22 arrives more quickly in the axis of the beam of the lamp 15 than it would be the case if the belt did not slip, but in any case the blocking always occurs. for the same position of the belt and therefore of the carpet.

This gives precision in the superposition. on the printed fabric, images of the various colors which is of the order of 0.1 mm.

The device has the advantage of being of extremely simple construction. The bands 14 of different lengths can be easily manufactured and replaced in the event of wear.

Of course, one could use to constitute the bands 14, other products than photographic films, for example flexible metal bands in which the marking zones would be formed by openings. It would also be possible to use metal strips, steel for example, in which the marking zones would be determined by a magnetic im pressure. The photosensitive detector 16 would then be replaced by a magnetic detector.
