Description

B. Rohre u. dgl.

Method for heating moist ceramic materials pressed in a plastic state and an extrusion press for carrying out the method The present invention relates to a method for heating moist,

Ceramic materials pressed in the plastic state by means of an extrusion press by means of electrical resistance and / or capacitive and / or inductive heating.

In the context of the invention, ceramic means coarse and fine ceramics, including porcelain.

The mass for ceramic products manufactured by deformation must be in the plastic state, regardless of whether the products are produced directly by drawing or whether the drawn profile (the mass strand or molding, so-called hub) is only used as a semi-product for further processing.

So far, drawing has been carried out in drawing or vacuum pressing at normal temperature without heating the mass. In the plastic state, however, the mass is quite soft and it is easily deformed. Your moisture is z. B. for electroporcelain 22% to 23 0/0. For further operations, a certain percentage of the

Water, usually approx. 2% to 3%, must be removed and the mass must be brought into the so-called leather-hard state through the solidification process so that the products or semi-products can be cut, stored and transported without deformation, or machined or turned in can be.

So far, the drying and Verfe stiffening of the drawn mass is either free in the air in special drying rooms or in dryers. Such a solidification process is, however, lengthy and, depending on the cross-section of the profile, also takes several hours or days. A lot of storage space and repeated manipulation are necessary, since the bulk strands have to be relocated at least twice.

Other ceramic goods, e.g. B. Insulators with kom plicated shapes are screwed into plaster molds. The plastic mass is pressed into the mold and then screwed in. After it has gained the necessary shape, it is taken out of the mold. For this purpose, too, mass strands are used, which are usually drawn in vacuum screw presses. Plaster of paris molds are used here because the mass, which can be prepared without difficulty in ordinary presses, is too soft so that it cannot be removed immediately after being screwed in without the risk of deformation.

The plaster mold sucks some of the water out of the mass, the mass is solidified in the mold and self-supporting and the product can only then be removed without any major risk of deformation. Such solidification takes several hours or even days, depending on the size of the product.

It is known that such a mass can also be screwed into metal or rubberized molds, but this requires a mass with a lower moisture content than can be obtained with the previous technology (in the case of electroporcelain, for example, the moisture would have to be around 1% to 2% lower to allow the use of metal molds).

With the previously achievable moisture content of the mass strands so this method is unsuitable for the usual factory production. The preparation of the ceramic mass in conventional vacuum presses with the desired moisture content has so far encountered such difficulties that turning it into plaster molds is even more advantageous despite the disadvantages and price increases associated with it.

Various methods have already been proposed in order to heat the ceramic mass either during drawing, during the vacuum process or during shaping into a product. The product to be dried z. B. electrical current passed. For this purpose, electrodes are placed on the body to be dried. The drying takes place through resistance or dielectric heating.

It is also known to heat the drawn ceramic mass already in the press by means of heating elements or special heated jackets through which a heating medium flows. In the first case, the ceramic mass is not heated before leaving the press, in the second case the necessary heat is not formed directly in the drawn mass, so that the mass is not heated simultaneously and evenly over the entire cross-section of the drawn product.

The purpose of the invention is to eliminate the aforementioned disadvantages of the known prior art, which in the process according to the invention is now achieved in that the ceramic mass is passed through a space in the press before it is separated from the press, in which by in relation on the jacket of the press immovably arranged transmission elements an electric alternating current field is called forth. whose energy is converted directly into heat in the entire cross-section of the ceramic strand. The heat required to evaporate the water can now be generated in a sufficient and easily controllable amount even during the extrusion process throughout the pressed profile.

The mass therefore leaves the press already heated, so that intensive water evaporation occurs in the air immediately after leaving the press mouth. It is clear that this can cause the moisture content of the strand to drop quickly. The degree of solidification can be regulated by the tempera ture height of the heated mass strand. Depending on the cross-section of the mass strand, sufficient solidification can occur after a few tens of seconds or a few minutes. With these measures it can be achieved that the mass strand can no longer be deformed, which allows further operations to be started immediately.

This fact offers further advantages, however, in that a band production is now possible without a time delay due to the solidification of the semi-finished product. Due to the comparative acceleration of the solidification several times and the shortening of the manufacturing process, a lot of storage space, in particular drying room and other auxiliary devices for solidification, is eliminated. The repeated relocation of the goods, which was necessary in the previous consolidation processes, is also no longer necessary.

Through the fiction, contemporary method, the hygiene of the work area can also be improved and the number of rejects can be reduced, since fast and uniform Verfe stiffening of the mass strands prevents their bending when drying on one side and deformation during manipulation and relocation.

From a thermal point of view, the conversion of electrical energy into heat directly in the drawn mass results in the best thermal efficiency, since losses due to convection, conduction and radiation are minimal. In addition, the measures according to the invention allow the mass to be supplied with a much larger amount of heat per unit of time than any other technically possible method. Furthermore, the heating can now be regulated more evenly, easily and elastically, practically without thermal inertia. be performed. This allows the exact dosage of the necessary amount of heat and control of the solidification of the mass.

The present invention also relates to an extrusion press for carrying out the method, which is characterized by the arrangement of stationary electrodes and / or stationary coils inside the press cylinder in front of the press mouthpiece and / or on the outer circumference of the press before the pressing mouthpiece.

For example, embodiments of the subject invention are to be explained in more detail with reference to the drawing. 1 shows an arrangement for carrying out the process with electrical resistance heating, FIG. 2 shows an arrangement with inductive heating, FIG. 3 shows an arrangement with dielectric heating, FIG. 4 shows a block diagram of the regulating circuit for regulating the heating power, FIG. 5 shows an embodiment variant of a section of the block diagram according to FIG. 4,

6 shows a further section of the variant according to FIG. 5 and FIG. 7 shows a thermal characteristic curve of the regulating mechanism.

In the following, the electrodes for resistance or dielectric heating and the inductivity for inductive heating will also be referred to as transmission elements for converting electrical energy into thermal energy.

Fig. 1 shows an embodiment for the availability of mass strands, where the necessary heat is supplied to the drawn mass in the press by direct electrical resistance heating before its opening. Just before the muzzle 2, a ring-shaped electrode 4 is installed in the working cylinder 1 in an insulating insert 3. The cylinder of the press 1 and the mandrel 5 are connected to the second, earthed pole of the source. The current flows between the electrode 4 and the mandrel 5, or between the jacket of the working cylinder of the press 1 through the drawn mass, which is heated by the direct passage of current.

When drawing full profiles, the mandrel 5 only serves as an electrode. In this case, it only extends to a sufficient distance from the mouth of the press in such a way that no cavity can be formed in the mass. This case is shown in the figure by full lines. However, if hollow profiles are drawn, e.g. B. tube, the mandrel 5 extends into the mouth and it is also used to design the cavity. This case is shown in dashed lines in the drawing. Depending on the design of the press, it is sometimes advantageous to use two mandrels in a row.

One of them serves as an electrode, the second as a cavity formation tool. In the case of vacuum presses, the screw can serve as an electrode instead of the mandrel 5. However, a different electrode arrangement is also possible.

The method can, as already mentioned, be carried out directly in the drawn mass by other means for converting electrical energy into heat.

2 illustrates the basic arrangement for carrying out the above-described method by inductive heating of the mass close to - seen in the pressing direction - the mouth of a piston press. In front of the mouth of the working cylinder 1, a coil 7 is arranged, which is fed from an HF generator 8. The extruded profile 9 forms the core of this coil, since the extruded mass behaves like a semiconductor in its plastic state.

Fig. 3 shows the basic arrangement for implementing the method through dielectric heating. The drawn mass 9 is guided between the electrodes 10 and 11 of the HF generator 12, which are arranged behind the Mün extension 2 of the press 1. The electrodes can be suitably shaped as required.

The coil according to FIG. 2 and the electrodes according to FIG. 3 can also be arranged in the inner space of the press, if the cylinder is made of a metal whose properties have the function of the heating source, e.g. B. not hinder according to Fig. 2, so z. B. made of aluminum u. like

The use of one of the possible above mentioned heating methods and the maximum allowable tempera ture of the mass depends on the physical, chemical and electrical properties of the drawn mass, the shape of the drawn profile, the construction of the press and its performance. It is clear to the person skilled in the art that any desired combinations of the heating methods mentioned can also be used.

It has already been mentioned that the supply of heat to the drawn ceramic mass should advantageously be regulated automatically within certain limits.

An embodiment of such a Regulierkrei Ses will now be explained in more detail.

A control point is selected on the path of the drawn ceramic mass and the heat regulation is carried out as a function of the heat of this point. A temperature-sensitive sensing element or temperature sensor, e.g. B. a wärmeab dependent resistor (thermistor) or a counter-thermometer is arranged at this point. This temperature sensor is connected to a regulating circuit, in whose output circuit a control element is arranged, which controls the supply of heat energy to the transfer elements just defined.

4 shows the block diagram of an exemplary embodiment of the control loop. A denotes the temperature sensor, B the automatic control circuit, C the control element in the output circuit of the control circuit, D a source of electrical energy or a generator of the electrical heating field and E the transmission elements defined above, e.g. B. Electrodes.

Fig. 7 shows the temperature characteristic of the control point as a function of time while the ceramic mass is drawn. After switching on the source of electrical energy, the temperature at the control point rises to a value t2. At this moment, the control device begins to reduce the power supplied or switches it off completely.

After the temperature has dropped to a value t1, which denotes the permissible lower temperature limit of the pre-drying process, the source is switched on again if it was switched off before - or the power supply is increased again until the temperature has reached the value t-2 again grows. The control device is set in such a way that the temperature at the control point never falls below the value tt. This ensures the correct level of the pre-drying temperature for the purpose of the invention, except at the beginning when the device is put into operation.

If the mass strand is to be further shaped again after the aforementioned predrying process, the heat range between t1 and t2 can be reduced because the individual layers mix. The method takes place e.g. B. Application in the manufacture of ceramic components for electrical engineering (resistors, capacitors, etc.), in the construction ceramics (pyrometric tubes, carriers, etc.), in the production of electroporcelain, z. B. for the produc- tion of HF and LF isolators by turning, or when transitioning to the new technology of turning in the production of earthenware, such. B. pipes u. like
