Description

Device for the assembly of metal pillars and box springs The construction of buildings by means of a frame made of assembled metal pillars and box springs is very widespread nowadays, but the assembly of these pillars and box springs poses many problems. Indeed, these parts are always fixed to each other by welding, by means of screws and bolts, or by means of rivets.

These methods are not advantageous because they require adequate tools and consequently a qualified and relatively large workforce. In addition, the installation of the elements is long and often delicate and the finishing of said elements can only be done when the assembly is completed.

In addition, in the callus of the assembly by welding, the precision is greatly reduced due to the wedging and the thickness of said weld, the finished parts are frequently damaged and any disassembly causes considerable damage. Finally, these types of assembly do not make it possible to absorb the deflections due to the inherent weight of the bed bases, nor the deflections due to overloading.

With the aim of remedying these drawbacks, the present invention relates to a device for assembling metal pillars and bases, characterized in that it comprises brackets fixed respectively to the ends of each base and fitting into each other. corresponding consoles fixed to the pillars, a cable extending along the said bed base, inside the latter, and the ends of which are hooked to the corresponding consoles of the pillars,

and an adjustable tensioner integral with said base and exerting on the cable a force transverse to its longitudinal axis and directed from top to bottom.

The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the subject of the invention.

Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing parts of the device ready to be assembled; fig. 2 is an elevational view with a partial section showing the elements of the figure. 1 assembled; fig. 3 is an elevational view with partial section showing a detail of the device.

The device described below makes it possible to assemble a box spring 1 with two pillars or pillar elements 2 and 3. This device comprises two brackets 4 fixed respectively to the ends of the base 1 and of their brackets 5 respectively fixed to the pillars 2. and 3.

The brackets 4 each consist of a support element 6 attached to a plate 7 fixed, for example welded, at the end of the bed base 1. The support element 6 has the general shape of a T d have the body is shaped so as to have two recesses 8 between a thicker portion 9 and the plate 7.

The consoles 5 each comprise a base 10 fixed, for example welded, on one of the faces of the co.rresppondant pillar, said base 10 being surmounted by two vertical projections 11 and 12 separated by a groove 13 and arranged so as to leave a empty space 14 between them and the face of the pillar.

Each console 4 is provided with a vertical ridge 26 disposed under the passage of the cable 15 and the brackets 5 are hollowed out with a groove 25 corresponding to the edges 26.

In the bed base 1 is arranged longitudinally a monofilament cable 15 whose ends pass through the plates 7 of the consoles 4 and extend under the support elements 6. Each of the ends of the cable 15 is for view of a head 16 formed, for example, by a suitable shape cold-stamped on the cable.

In the middle of the base 1, inside it, is placed a: tensioner 17 comprising a fixed support 18 welded to the base 1 and pierced with a threaded hole in which is engaged a screw 19 transverse to the longitudinal axis of the base 1. The upper end of the screw 19 opens above the upper wall 20 of the base 1. and its lower end present ;, a tenon 21 pivotally engaged in a mortise 22 made in a shoe 23 movable in the base 1 and the lower part of which is provided with a recess 24 engaged on the cable 15.

The device shown is used as follows: the pillars 2 and 3 being in place at a suitable distance, the bed base 1 is placed between said pillars and the consoles 4 of the bed base 1 are engaged on the consoles 5 of the pillars 2 and 3. In doing so. the recesses 8 are introduced into the grooves 13 and the portions 9 into the spaces 14. The support elements 6 then rest on the projections Il and 12 and the cable 15 and its heads 16 are held in the wrge 13 and has the space 14 respectively by the support elements 6. The attachment of the base 1 to the pillars 2 and 3 is then carried out and it only remains to tighten the 15 cable to ensure the fixity of the assembly. The cable tension is obtained by screwing the screw 19 of the tensioner 17 into the fixed support 18.

By screwing, the screw 19 pushes down the shoe 23 which exerts on the cable 15 a force transverse to its longitudinal axis and directed from top to bottom. This force moves the central part of the cable and tightens it. The heads 16 of the latter. because of their hanging behind projections 11 and 12 of consoles 5 of pillars 2 and 3, apply said consoles 5 against consoles 4 of bed base 1.

When the tension of the cable 15 reaches a certain value and that one continues to actuate the screw 19. it is no longer the cable 15 which moves from top to bottom but the central part of the bed base 1 which moves from bottom to high. Indeed, the tensioner 17 being integral with the base 1, the force applied to the cable by said tensioner results in a movement of the cable and in a movement of the fixed support 18, and consequently of the base 1, said movements being in the opposite direction.

So. the force applied to the cable ensures the blocking of the consoles 4 and 5 against each other and consequently the rigidity of the assembly of the pillars and the base on the one hand, and allows to completely eliminate the deflection due to the own weight of the base as well as the deflection due to the overload of the base on the other hand. thus automatically carrying out the pre-stress of said base.

The device according to the invention makes it possible to assemble and dismantle the pillars and box springs very quickly without degrading them, without special tools and without calling on a qualified and numerous workforce. The parts can be completely finished in the workshop and the precision of the assembly thus obtained makes it possible to work with practically zero assembly tolerances.

In addition, the device according to the invention can be applied to practically roof types of pillars and som miers, and each pillar can be assembled with several mattresses.
