Lid for a box containing a pasty coating There are already known boxes of shoe polish which are viewed from a relatively high height lid inside which is housed a small brush intended to be used to take the shoe polish in the box and to coat it. the shoes. The main disadvantage of this arrangement is that when you open the box, the small brush falls out.
The object of the present invention is to remedy this drawback.
For this purpose, it relates to a cover for a box containing a pasty coating, characterized in that it comprises an annular side wall inside which is housed a coating member movable between a retracted position and an advanced position. and means for fixing said member to the side wall in said advanced position.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the cover according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial sectional view thereof, the cover being placed above the box and the coating member being in the advanced position; fig. 2 is an exploded perspective view of two members of the cover, and FIG. 3 is a sectional view taken along line 3-3 of FIG. 1.
The cover shown in the drawing is intended to close a shoe polish box 1 made of stamped sheet metal, the external side face of which has a groove 2 in which an internal circular rib 17 of the cover engages in a notch, as will be seen below.
The cover consists of a cap 3, a locking ring 4 and a sliding base 5 to which is attached a sponge 6. The cap 3 has a cylindrical side wall 7 whose height is approximately equal to the diameter of the cap . In its internal face, the side wall 7 has a rib 8 parallel to the axis of the cover. It also has an annular shoulder 9 directed downward and which extends over the entire periphery of the side wall approximately one third of its height. Over an arc of approximately 90, on either side of the rib 8, this shoulder has a groove 10. The side wall 7 also has, below the shoulder 9, an annular groove 11 formed in its most part. thin.
This groove ensures the connection between the cap 3 and the ring 4. The latter presents, as can be seen in FIG. 1 a U-shaped profile whose two vertical branches are of unequal heights. The internal branch 12 has in its external face a circular rib 13 which engages in the groove 11 so as to secure the ring 4 and the cap 3 while allowing rotation of the ring.
The branch 12 of this ring further has along its upper edge two internal projections 14 (FIG. 2) which each extend over approximately 90. It also has above its upper edge a lug 15 which, when the ring is placed on the wall 7, is engaged in the groove 10 and therefore limits the possible rotational movements between the ring 4 and the cap 3. Finally, the branch 12 has at the base of its internal face a rib 17 which engages in the groove 2 to secure the cover to the box 1. The external branch 16 of the profile of the ring 4 is knurled as seen in fig. 2 and extends around the lower portion of the wall 7.
When the ring 4 is rotated, the internal projections 14 can engage between the flange 18 which the base 5 has in its upper part and the ears 19 also extending over an angle of 90o opposite the flange 18 in the side face of the plinth 5.
As the diameter of the collar 18 is adjusted to that of the internal face of the wall 7 so as to allow the member (5, 6) to move freely in the cap 3, and that, on the other hand, the , collar 18 has a rib 8 which is engaged in the groove 20, the base 5 can slide smooth inside the wall 7 between a retracted position in which it is retained by the flat bottom of the cap and an advanced position in which the glue rette 18 abuts on the internal projections 14. It is therefore sufficient to rotate the ring 4 by a quarter turn so that the base 5 is fixed to the wall 7 in said advanced position.
When it is desired to close the box, the ring 4 is rotated so as to release the base 5, which then slides by itself into the bottom of the cap 3, so that the branch can be engaged. 12 of the ring 4 on the edge of the box, the sponge 6 and the base 5 being enclosed between the level of the shoe polish in the box and the bottom of the cover 1.
The cap 3, as well as the ring 4 and the base 5 can be made of plastic by very rapid and inexpensive injection methods. In addition, one of the advantages of the arrangement described above is that, in order to assemble the cover, it is sufficient to engage its three component parts one in the other axially and to press on the ring 4 to engage the cover. nerve 13 in the groove 11. These operations can therefore be carried out fully automatically without requiring complicated machines.
The base 5 and the sponge 6 attached to it constitute a coating member which, when it is attached to the cap 3 in the advanced position as described above, can be grasped by the cap 3 and manipulated at will. In fact, the coating member is then completely integral with the cap. It can be pressed against a surface and moved laterally or in rotation around its axis, without risk of detachment.
