Additional patent to the main patent no. 470 471 Fuel paste and process for its production The subject of the main patent no. 470 471 is a fuel paste which is characterized in that it is the purest silicon dioxide as the fuel carrier substance, the particle size of which is from 3 to 40, u. varies.
Fuel pastes are known which have thixotropic properties. The production of such pastes is very difficult because they are easily liquefied again by vibrations. Filling into tubes is therefore very problematic with thixotropic fuel pastes.
Surprisingly, it has been shown that if you add further oxides of silicon, titanium, zirconium and aluminum and carbonates and / or hydroxides of alkali and alkaline earth metals to a liquid mixture of silicon dioxide and alcohol, a non-thixotropic fuel paste can be obtained that is soft and is plastic and can therefore be filled into tubes without any further precautionary measures.
The subject of the invention is accordingly a non-thixotropic fuel paste in soft and plastic form, which is characterized in that it consists of 80 to 90 percent by weight alcohol and 20 to 10 percent by weight of an inorganic fuel carrier mixture which, in addition to silicon dioxide, contains at least one other oxidic Compound of silicon, titanium, zirconium or aluminum or at least one carbonate or hydroxide of an alkali or
Contains alkaline earth metal.
The fuel carrier mixture advantageously consists of at least 60% by weight silicon dioxide, the particle size of which varies from 3 to 40 μm.
In a special embodiment, the fuel carrier mixture can also contain sodium tetraborate in amounts of 0.5 to 1.5% by weight. If the fuel paste fuel carrier mixture consists of more than 60% silica,
can still fillers that have a thickening effect, such as. B. talc or kieselguhr can be added.
The invention also relates to a method for producing the fuel paste by adding a multiple of alcohol to the fuel carrier mixture with stirring and gelling the still liquid mixture to a soft, plastic, non-thixotropic paste by adding calcium hydroxide.
A fuel paste according to the invention burns without the formation of soot and leaves behind minimal amounts of inorganic ash. It has the advantage that it does not liquefy when subjected to mechanical action such as kneading, beating, stirring, both during fabrication, when extruding from the tube and when kneading in the tube.
In using the present invention. is z. B. proceeded so that the fuel pa ste on a suitable base, z. B. Firepit presses and lights. In this way it is possible to heat cookware held over a bar, tins etc.
When lighting charcoal and the like, the procedure is that the fuel is smeared with the fuel paste and ignited with a known agent.
The following examples serve to further illustrate the invention.
Example 1 50 g of silicon dioxide with a particle size of 3 to 40, u are added in portions to 89 g of industrial fuel with stirring; the still liquid mixture obtained in this way can be stabilized and thickened by adding 1 g of calcium hydroxide to a non-thixotropic fuel paste that can be easily filled into tubes.
Example 2 Mix 7.5 g of silicon dioxide, 1.0 g of aluminum oxide, 1.0 g of calcium carbonate, 1.0 g of titanium dioxide, 1.0 g of magnesium carbonate and 1.0 g of talc with one another and add 85 g of industrial fuel in portions while stirring. The still liquid mixture is then mixed with 1.0 g of calcium hydroxide, whereupon a soft, plastic and non-thixotropic fuel paste is formed.
