Device on gas cylinders to prevent the ignition of explosive gas mixtures, in particular acetylene-air mixtures, subject of main patent no.
446 237 is a device for preventing the ignition of explosive gas mixtures, in particular acetylene-air mixtures, in lines between a gas cylinder and a consumer point due to pressure surges and / or excessive flow velocities, which is characterized by the fact that an energy-consuming throttle valve at the beginning of the line, that limits the flow rate to a value at which there is no compression heat that can lead to the ignition of the gas mixture flowing through is provided.
In the main patent, some devices for securing gas cylinders and lines are described, which consist of the combination of a check valve and a throttle valve. The main patent also proposes a device of this type in which the functions of the check valve and the throttle valve are taken over by a single diaphragm valve acted upon on both sides.
The object of the invention is to provide a device of the type mentioned in the main patent with a valve combination in which only a very small number of sealing surfaces is necessary and in which no significant pressure fluctuations occur in the main passage areas.
The device according to the invention is characterized in that a non-return valve is provided at the beginning of the line, which is pressed onto its seat when the empty bottle is removed by the excess pressure in the line and opens as a result of the pressure equalization when a new full bottle is connected that the non-return valve and the throttle valve are independent of one another in their function, that the non-return valve is a spring-loaded poppet valve, that the throttle valve consists of a spring-loaded diaphragm valve, which is preceded by a throttle.
and that when the diaphragm valve is closed, there is a connection between the gas cylinder and the manifold via a bypass hole.
The drawing illustrates a Ausführungsbei game of the device according to the invention in longitudinal section. The valve combination is accommodated in a housing which consists of a cap 1, a housing part 2 and a connector 3. Cap 1 and housing middle part 2 are connected to one another by means of a locking ring 4, while connection piece 3 is screwed to housing middle part 2. A seal 5 is located between the connection piece 3 and the housing middle part 2.
A compression spring 6 is seated in a recess in the connection piece 3 and presses a sintered metal piece 7 into a corresponding recess in the middle housing part 2. The sintered metal piece 7 serves as a filter and as a flashback protection device. An axially pierced screw 8 is screwed into the upper end of the cap 1, to which a wire screen 9 serving as a filter is soldered. The diaphragm valve consists of the compression spring 10 inserted into an annular groove in the middle part of the housing and the diaphragm 11 with closure disk 12.
The membrane 11 is clamped between the cap 1 and the housing middle part 2, the clamping surfaces being sealed by means of the two sealing rings 13. Above the membrane 11 is the poppet valve holder 14, which is let into the cap 1. The poppet valve holder 14 carries a compression spring 15 and the poppet valve 16. The construction is such that the gas pressure can propagate unhindered through the compression spring 15 and the poppet valve holder 14 into the space above the membrane 11. The two spaces above and below the membrane 11 are connected to one another by the bores 17a, 17b and 17c.
The throttle 18, which is sealed with the two sealing rings 19, sits in the middle of the bore 17b at the interface between the cap 1 and the housing middle part 2. The bore 17a is plug 20 closed to the outside by the screws. The by-pass bore 21 extends from the space below the membrane 11 to the space above the sintered metal piece 7. The by-pass 22 is screwed into the by-pass bore 21.
The operation of the valve combination is as follows: In the operating state, the gas flows through the open poppet valve 16 through the bores 17 and the throttle 18 into the space below the diaphragm 11. This is in a neutral position due to the pressure of the spring 10, the diaphragm valve is therefore open and the gas continues to flow via the sintered metal piece 7 into the consumer line. A small amount of gas also takes the route via the bypass 22. The flow rate is limited by the throttle 18.
As soon as the maximum flow rate is reached, the diaphragm valve begins to act as an additional safeguard; Since the pressure in the consumer line drops sharply from this point on, the membrane 11 bends downward as a result of the gas pressure from the bottle and closes the drain opening with the closure disk 12. Only a small amount flows through by-pass 22.
The diaphragm valve only opens again when almost no more gas is withdrawn and so much gas has flowed through the bypass 22 that the pressure in the consumer line is almost as high as in the bottle.
If a bottle is exchanged, the poppet valve 16 closes immediately after removing the bottle, the membrane remains in a neutral position. An exchange of substances between the gas in the consumer line and the air is therefore impossible. After the full bottle has been connected, the poppet valve 16 opens and the diaphragm valve closes in that the diaphragm 11 with the closure disk 12 lies on the lower drainage opening. Gas flows slowly through the bypass 22 into the consumer line until the pressure almost reaches the cylinder pressure. Then the throttle valve opens.
The combination of valves also reliably avoids the unintentional rapid charging of a possibly overlooked empty bottle.
Compared to the embodiments in the Hauptpa tent, the present valve combination has the following advantages: It is simpler in structure, has few sealing surfaces and the execution of the membrane, spring and diaphragm throttle need not be made extremely high requirements. By separating the functions of the non-return (poppet) valve and the throttle (diaphragm) valve, pressure fluctuations are reliably avoided. If necessary, the throttle can easily be exchanged for another throttle with a larger or smaller bore.
