Abstract

Controlled liquid weighting of fibrous material.. B2A. Is carried out in apparatus comprising a mechanism for varying the pressure applied by squeeze rollers, and a system for varying the concentration of a liquid, for example warp dressing, in an applicator bath, both connected to a switch appliance giving precise control of the amount and concentration of liquid picked up per unit length of fibre. - Squeeze-out of excess liquid is effected in two stages from an initially deliberate over-application of liquid of too high concentration.

Description

Device for treating a fiber material with a weighting agent The invention relates to a device for treating a fiber material with a weighting agent, consisting of a treatment container containing the weighting agent, nip rollers for removing superfluous weighting agent from the fiber material, a device for changing the contact pressure of the nipping rollers , a device for changing the concentration of the weighting agent supplied to the container and a device for measuring the amount of weighting agent absorbed by the pulp.

To regulate the absorption of weight by a fiber, it is known from German Auslegeschrift No. 1010 043 to change the contact pressure of the pinch rollers. Furthermore, the concentration of the weighting agent can be changed depending on the measured weight absorption, as described in Swiss Patent No. 372 020, or the amount of treatment agent can be changed by means of the device known in Swiss Patent No. 420 033 .

When regulating the weight absorption by changing the contact pressure of the nip rollers, the result is that the contact pressure of the nip rollers cannot be increased arbitrarily. On the one hand, it must be taken into account that if the squeezing pressure is too high, knots can be pressed open and squeezed, the roll surface can be damaged and the squeeze joint between the two rollers widens in such a way that an undesirably high wet expansion of the fibrous material to be treated takes place in this joint.

In addition, in such a case a very important flexing work has to be done, which unnecessarily loads the machine operation. On the other hand, however, it must also be taken into account that from a certain limit of the squeezing pressure on, the squeezing effect changes only insignificantly and ultimately no longer changes as the squeeze pressure increases. These considerations result in an optimal value for the squeeze pressure.

In order to ensure a sufficiently large control range of the contact pressure below half this optimum value when regulating the absorption of weight by changing the contact pressure of the nip rollers, it is therefore necessary that the concentration of the weighting agent is chosen somewhat lower than is desirable for optimal squeezing. However, this has the disadvantage that the downstream drying device has to provide a greater output in order to remove the higher proportion of moisture from the pulp.

Compared to the regulation by changing the squeezing pressure, the regulation of the weight absorption by changing the concentration of the weighting agent has the disadvantage that the squeezing pressure has to be preselected first. In order to obtain the lowest possible drying performance of the downstream drying device, it is therefore desirable to set the optimum value of the contact pressure of the pinch rollers.

For this, one has so far relied on empirical values in which the type of fiber to be treated, in particular its absorption capacity, must be taken into account. With the new fibers, this inevitably means that an oversized safety margin must be maintained, which can only be reduced over time based on the experience gained and during this time entails considerable losses for the processing company.

The invention was based on the object of creating a device for treating a fibrous material with a weighting agent, with which the above disadvantages are avoided.

The inventive device according to the invention mentioned at the beginning is characterized in that the device for measuring the weighting agent uptake is connected to the device for changing the contact pressure and the device for changing the concentration of the treatment agent via a switching device in such a way that the change in concentration is only achieved after an optimal value of the contact pressure takes place.

With the help of the device, it is possible for the first time to determine the exact sequence for regulating the sizes influencing the loading and this is not the case for the operator, as is still the case, for example, using the device mentioned in Swiss Patent No. 372 020.

The device preferably works as follows: The treatment process for the pulp begins with a concentration of the weighting agent which, even at the optimum value of the contact pressure of the nip rollers, results in excessive weighting of the pulp, as this is generally necessary for the further processing of the pulp is significantly less harmful than a weight that is too low. Then the contact pressure of the nip rollers is increased depending on the weight absorption until a further increase in the pressure only results in an insignificant change in the weight absorption. This also means that the optimum value of the contact pressure is reached.

The concentration of the weighting agent can then be changed in a known manner as a function of the weight absorption. During this control process it can be advantageous to change the contact pressure in a manner known per se as a function of the flow speed of the goods when the passage speed of the goods needs to be changed, for example when switching to crawler gear.

An embodiment of the device according to the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the figure.

The figure shows the treatment tank 1 containing the weighting agent, in this case the sizing solution, through which the fibrous material, in this case the warp thread sheet F, is passed by means of a dip roller 2 in a known manner. In addition, the thread sheet F is guided in a known manner over the deflection roller 3 and through the nip rollers 4. On the sizing trough 1 there is an overflow container 1 a in a known manner, from which the sizing is continuously fed to the sizing trough 1 in excess by means of a pump 5. A measuring probe 6 for determining the water level is arranged within this overflow container 1 a, which ensures that the overflow container 1 a is refilled after the liquid level falls below a predetermined level.

In addition, the deflection roller 3 is equipped with a measuring device for determining the length of the thread sheet that has passed through. In the illustrated embodiment, this length measuring device consists of a pulse generator 7, the pulses of which influence a display device for the meter length covered. After filling the used sizing liquid, the overflow container 1 a is connected to the dosing and mixing vessel 9 via the line 8 and a valve 8 a that can be controlled manually or remotely. The dosing and mixing vessel 9 is supplied in a known manner via the line 10 and the valve 10a from the cooking or storage container 11, a stock liquor of constant concentration.

To achieve the desired concentration in the sizing trough, the dosing and mixing vessel 9 is also supplied with diluting liquid via the line 12 with the control valve 12a. To ensure the desired liquor temperature, the dosing and mixing vessel 9 is provided with a per se known direct steam heating in which the heating steam supplied through the line 13 and the valve 13a is blown directly into the sizing solution of the dosing and mixing vessel 9. In the dosing and mixing vessel 9 you can see the white direct a stirring device 14, which is driven by a motor 15 and is used for intimate mixing of the stock liquor with the diluent speed. Furthermore, a temperature sensor 16 and a level meter each with the minimum contact 17 and the maximum contact 18 can be seen.

Finally, a probe 20 adjustable by a motor 19 is also provided, the task of which is to determine in a known manner the mixing ratio between the stock size supplied from the boiling and storage container 11 and the diluting liquid supplied via the line 12.

The contact pressure of the squeegee rollers 4 is called in a known manner by a pneumatically operated piston in a cylinder 21. To adjust the contact pressure, a control valve 22 is provided, which can be adjusted both manually and remotely. The contact pressure of the nip rollers 4 can be read directly on a manometer 23.

All measurement and control lines are routed to a switching device 24. At this switching device 24 he knows first the main switch 25, which connects the entire system via line 26 with the electrical network's rule. Furthermore, a selector switch 27 and a display device 28 can be seen, which is connected to the pulse generator 7 and shows the number of meters of warp thread group F that have run. In addition, two push buttons 29, 30 are provided, through which the adjusting motor 19 for the probe 20 in one or the other direction of rotation for an upward or downward movement of the probe can be turned on.

At the same time, the push button lights up, regardless of whether the motor 19 is switched on by actuating the push button or by actuation by the automatic system. Finally, two indicator lamps 31, 32 are provided, if necessary of different colors, one of which can be switched on by the measuring probe 6 and the other by the display device 28.

The device shown works as follows: Before the start of the sizing process, the sizing trough 1 and the overflow container la are filled with a sizing solution of excessive concentration. If, for example, a sizing concentration of 10% for the sizing trough 1 is likely to be correct, the sizing trough is initially filled with a 12 or 15% sizing solution. The selector switch 27 is now initially set to regulate the contact pressure of the nip rollers. For this purpose, for example, in accordance with Swiss Patent No. 372 020, the length of the yarn sheet F run through is compared with the consumption of sizing liquid in the sizing trough 1.

Since the sizing concentration in the trough 1 is excessive, it follows from the level meter 8 the signaling treatment liquid consumed earlier than on the display device 28, the number of meters provided for the target sizing is reached. In this case, the signal lamp 31 which can be switched on by the measuring probe 6 lights up and thus shows that too much size has been applied to the thread sheet F. At the same time, the switching device 24 gives the valve 22 an adjustment pulse to increase the contact pressure of the nip rollers 4.

This process is repeated until there is no significant change in length when the display is repeated on the measuring device 28. The value of the contact pressure of the nip rollers 4 displayed on the manometer 23 then corresponds to the optimum value of the pinch-off effect. Depending on the nature of the squeeze rollers 4 and the material to be treated, however, the optimum value of the contact pressure can also be lower than the optimum value of the squeezing effect determined in the manner described above.

As already mentioned at the beginning, with the optimum value of the contact pressure it must also be taken into account that if the squeezing pressure is too high, knots can be pushed open and crushed, the roll surface can be damaged in the case of corresponding ring travelers on the rolls, etc. If the optimum value permitted here is Contact pressure is not previously known, the item to be treated, in this case the warp thread sheet F, must be observed while the contact pressure of the pinch rollers 4 is increasing. Otherwise, it is sufficient to observe the pressure gauge 23 and to interrupt the control process for increasing the contact pressure of the squeegee rollers 4 when the optimum value displayed on the pressure gauge 23 is reached.

If the optimum value of the contact pressure of the nip rollers 4 is reached, the selector switch 27 is set to the concentration control position, which now causes the concentration of the sizing solution fed to the sizing trough 1 via the line 8 to be changed. The following process takes place here.

It is assumed that a 20% stock liquor is always herge in the cooking or storage container 11, which is mixed with the diluting liquid fed through the line 12 in the dosing and mixing vessel 9 in such a ratio that the The groove size fed to the line 8 receives the concentration corresponding to the degree of size of the chain F. For this purpose, the valve 10a is first opened and so much stock liquor is introduced from the cooking or storage container 11 into the dosing or mixing vessel 9 until the adjustable probe 20 responds.

Then the valve 10a is closed and the valve 12a is opened, which now fills up the metering and mixing vessel 9 to speak to the maximum contact 18 of the level meter.

Since, in the method described above, the usable coating fed through line 8 to sizing trough 1 should initially have an excessive concentration, so that even with optimal contact pressure of nip rollers 4, measuring probe 6 responds earlier than measuring device 28 reaches the target number of meters When the selector switch 27 is switched to the concentration control position, the indicator lamp 31 connected to the measuring probe 6 lights up earlier than the indicator lamp 32 connected to the measuring device 28. At the same time, the switching device 24 sends control pulses to the motor 19 of the probe 20, namely until the indicator lamp 32 also lights up, d. H. until the target number of meters is also reached on the measuring device 28.

The adjustment height of the probe 20 is thus greater, the greater the time difference between the response of the measuring probe 6 and the achievement of the target number of meters on the measuring device 28. The deeper the adjustable probe 20 dips into the dosing and mixing vessel, the less stock liquor is supplied via the line 10, so that the more diluting liquid is supplied via the line 12 to fill the dosing and mixing vessel 9. The concentration is reduced the more the deeper the adjustable probe 20 is immersed. Should it arise here that the concentration falls slightly below the setpoint value, so that the meter display of the measuring device 28 reaches its setpoint value earlier than the measuring probe 6 responds, the indicator lamp 32 lights up first.

At the same time, the adjustment motor 19 for the probe 20 adjustment pulses are given in the direction that the probe is less deeply immersed in the container. Here, too, the adjustment pulses are given again during the entire time difference between the response of the meter display of the measuring device 28 and the response of the measuring probe 6.

Instead of the present measuring device, another measuring method can be used to determine the actual value of the weight absorption instead of the comparison between the measured length of the thread sheet F that has passed through with the consumption determined on the level meter 6, which is a reliable reference point for the actual value of the sizing absorption of the thread sheet F supplies.
