Abstract

Glass panels are produced by joining several pieces of glass at their ends with adhesive. Specifically, the pantransparent and translucent with vitrifiable colours, vitrification being carried out at the same as the chilling.

Description

Manufacturing process of a glass panel and glass panel produced according to the process
Methods of manufacturing glass panels are already known which consist in joining together glass elements of different dimensions by means of a binder.

However, these previously known methods, which involve the use of lead or concrete to perform the assembly, are subject to the following difficulties:
First, lead is a soft metal and cannot be used for doors or windows, due to the low resistance capacity of glass elements.

Secondly, due to the enormous weight of concrete, panels which use this material are in many cases unusable.

The present invention aims to obtain, compared with methods of this type already known, a method giving panels of superior strength, easier to assemble, safer, more durable and of a more aesthetic appearance.

It relates to a method of manufacturing a glass panel, characterized in that the glass elements are subjected to a toughening operation intended to increase their resistance, in that the edges of the glass elements are bevelled and abraded. for removing polished surfaces and making them suitable for withstanding the application of a heat-melting colloidal binder, in that a resin is used as a binder, in that the glass is preheated before assembling said elements and in that as a last operation a cut is made in the contiguous surfaces of the assembly.

It also relates to a panel obtained by this process.

Various embodiments of the method according to the present invention make it possible to form panels which can be placed in stairwells, church windows, partitions, passage doors, movable windows, etc.

To form these panels, small elements of glass, mirrors or floor tiles of different shapes and sizes are brought together by means of a coating or an adhesive capable of forming a bond offering great resistance. This coating can be, for example, an adhesive based on a synthetic material. The elements can be united by their edge, the latter being bevelled. In some cases, the connection between two elements can be achieved by covering.

The current construction, due to the standards and processes of modern architecture, recommends the use of large glass panels in which there are pieces of glass or mirrors of large dimensions. Cutting waste and other small elements could not be used in these large assemblies if there was no way to unite them to form panels whose dimensions meet current requirements. The method described here therefore fills a gap in the current situation.

The elements of glass or slabs which form the panels described can be tempered, which increases their strength six to eight times over the normal strength.

The resistance of the surfaces formed by the meeting of the glass elements is much greater than the resistance offered by glass surfaces of the same size, made in one piece. At the same time, the transparent and translucent panes and slab elements can be treated with vitrifiable colors such as those currently offered by advanced technology in this field. The vitrification of the colors can be carried out at the same time as the quenching. The glass panels can be assembled by gluing along their edge, or, if aesthetic reasons so require, by their surfaces.

The method described makes it possible to produce panels of artistic appearance, of classic shape, by means of pieces of glass, elements of mirrors, colored or transparent floor tiles, of regular or irregular shapes, according to all the variants that l he skilled in the art is capable of creating.
