The present invention relates to a propellant charge ammunition, in particular intended for use in sealing guns, in particular in those referred to as weight.
It is known that, in devices of the latter type, a significant portion of the combustion residues of the propellant charge remains in the device. The accumulation of these residues results, after a certain number of shots, in clogging of the pistol, clogging which, after a certain period of use of the device, reaches such a degree that it hinders the sliding of various parts. and makes the handling of the apparatus difficult, painful and ultimately impossible, which requires cleaning the gun.
At the present time, this drawback is partly remedied by periodic lubrication of the apparatus, which lubrication produces, among other things, a softening of the scale and the formation of a kind of paste which is partly driven off by the gas generated by the combustion of the charge during firing.
Such periodic lubrication appreciably improves the operation of the apparatus and makes it possible to space cleanings. The disadvantage of this lubrication is its arbitrary and occasional character; practically it is difficult to obtain from some users.
The present invention makes it possible to safely overcome the aforementioned drawbacks by making the lubrication automatic and dependent on the actual use of the apparatus.
This result is obtained by means of a munition comprising a propellant charge arranged in a cavity formed in a case, characterized in that a lubricating agent is housed in said cavity in front of the charge in the direction of fire.
In the accompanying drawings, there is schematically shown some embodiments of the invention.
On these drawings:
Fig. 1 is a view in longitudinal section of a first embodiment of the munition, in which the munition comprises a case.
Fig. 2 is a view similar to the previous one, of an alternative embodiment.
Fig. 3 is a view similar to FIG. 1, of another variant embodiment.
Fig. 4 is a longitudinal sectional view of an embodiment of the ammunition constituting a cartridge, the elongate sleeve of which contains the propellant charge and the lubricating agent.
Fig. 5 is a longitudinal sectional view of another embodiment in which the ammunition comprises a cartridge holder enclosing a propellant cartridge in the front part of which a dry lubricant is pressed.
Fig. 6, finally, is a view in longitudinal section of a part of a sealing gun with weight, or piston, view showing the action of the lubricating agent incorporated in a munition.
In the embodiment of FIG. 1, the ammunition comprises a case 1 of plastic material containing a liquid or pasty lubricant 2, case at the rear end of which is pressed, by force and of a sealed material (in particular if the lubricant is liquid), a propellant cartridge 3 simultaneously forming plug. The end of the case opposite to that where the cartridge 3 is located is closed by a bottom having a zone 4 of small thickness which can easily break to allow the release of the lubricant and the combustion gases during firing.
In the embodiment of FIG. 2 which relates to the case where the lubricating agent 12 is pasty (consistent fat) or gelled. The plastic case 11 is open towards the front and may include a separating constriction 11a between the cavity part containing said lubricant and the cavity part containing the propellant cartridge 13.
The variant embodiment of FIG. 3 (in which the elements already shown in FIG. 1 have been designated by the same reference numerals) does not differ from the embodiment of FIG. 1 only by the presence of a shutter 5, made of plastic for example, arranged between the lubricant 2 and the cartridge 3 and forming a delivery piston for said lubricant, when the blow starts.
In the embodiment of FIG. 4, the case consists of a cartridge case 6, at the rear of which the propellant charge 7 is located, and which has a length greater than that which would be necessary to play the role of a usual cartridge case.
Thanks to this feature, the part of the sleeve located in front of the load 7 forms a receptacle for the lubricant 22 which is separated from said load by a shutter 8, made of paraffin for example, a similar shutter 9 closing the open end of the socket.
In the variant shown in FIG. 5, the ammunition comprises a case consisting of a cartridge case 23 housed in a cartridge holder 24 of plastic material, the front end of this cartridge being closed by a plug 25 consisting of a block of dry lubricant (for example graphite) sealed with cardboard, for example.
Fig. 6 allows to realize the action of the lubricating agent incorporated in a propellant charge ammunition in a piston sealing gun, or weight.
In this figure, A is designated by the part of the gun where the cavity B is located, serving to guide, with clearance, the enlarged part, or piston, C of the weight, the front and rear rods of which are respectively designated by Ca and Cb.
The ammunition, supposed to be of one of the types shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, is designated by M. Its firing is caused by a striker P.
The drawing clearly shows that when firing the lubricant
L which is driven by the propellants licks the surfaces of the various moving parts relative to each other, which provides the desired result, namely the lubrication and, in a way, the cleaning of the apparatus.
