Description

  1-diphosphonsäure, Aminoäthan-1,1-diphosphonsäure u. a.

The main patent relates to a process for preventing stone-forming deposits in aqueous systems, which is characterized in that a modified starch obtained by treatment with acids or by the action of oxidizing agents below the gelatinization temperature is used alone or in a mixture with aminoalkylenephosphonic acids in substoichiometric amounts ( Inoculation quantities), based on the hardness components of the water.

The starches modified with acids are obtained by adding a certain amount of acid, such as hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid or phosphoric acid, to an aqueous starch slurry and then stirring it below the gelatinization temperature until the desired degree of degradation is achieved. The aqueous suspension is then neutralized, the starch is filtered off with suction, washed out and dried in the air or in a drying cabinet at 40 to 45 ° C. By mixing the modified starches obtained in this way with phosphonic acids, an even better hardness-stabilizing effect is achieved.

In a further development of the process according to the main patent, it has now been found that a particularly good hardness-stabilizing effect is also achieved if a starch treated with aqueous solutions of phosphonic acids below the gelatinization temperature is used in sub-stoichiometric amounts, based on the hardness components.

Starch, especially corn or potato starch, with an aqueous solution of phosphonic acid in a weight ratio of starch to phosphonic acid of 1: 1 to 50: 1, preferably 4: 1 to 10: 1, kneaded and the mixture used in amounts of up to 500 mg / l of water, preferably 10 to 50 mg / l of water.

The direct treatment of starch with the phosphonic acid solutions leads to products with an excellent vaccination effect, without first degrading the starch in a laborious manner before mixing it with the phosphonic acid solutions.

An important advantage of the invention is also that the crude aqueous solutions obtained during the phosphonic acid production, from which the isolation of the phosphonic acid is often time-consuming and expensive, can be used without purification. The solutions of the phosphonic acids in question are treated with a maximum of 50 parts by weight of starch to 1 part by weight of phosphonic acid until a solid mass is obtained.

The following compounds, for example, can be used as phosphonic acids: amino-tris- (methanephosphonic acid), diethylenetriamine-penta- (methanephosphonic acid), ethylenediamine-tetra- (methanephosphonic acid), 1,2-propylenediamine-tetra (methanephosphonic acid), 1,3-propylenediamine-tetra- (methanephosphonic acid), 1,2-cyclohexanediamine-tetra- (methanephosphonic acid), 1-aminomethyl-cyclopentylamine- (2) -tetra- (methanephosphonic acid), hydroxyethane- 1,

  1-diphosphonic acid, aminoethane-1,1-diphosphonic acid u. a.

You can mix 2 parts of a 50% aqueous solution of phosphonic acid with 4 parts of corn starch or 7 parts of potato starch in a kneader. Immediately after kneading, these mixtures have an excellent synergistic effect that goes far beyond the effect of the individual components.

Depending on the mixing ratio, it is sometimes advantageous to dry the finished solid mixtures at 45 ° C. in order to obtain powdery products.

The synergistic effect of the products from phosphonic acid and starch is shown by means of examples which are compiled in the tables below. To this end, the vaccination effect of the products was determined in comparison to the vaccination effect of the individual components.

To determine the vaccination effect, a certain amount (mg) of the substance to be tested was dissolved in a 1000 ml beaker in 1 1 water of about 15 dH and 12 g caustic soda was added. The beaker was covered with a watch glass and allowed to stand at room temperature or 40 ° C. It was then checked whether crystals had deposited on the glass rod or on the wall of the beaker.

Of course, the products listed in the tables also have an equally good stabilizing effect at the water's own pH value. Work was therefore carried out in the alkaline area in order to show the advantageous stabilizing effect of the combination according to the invention in such an environment as is necessary for a great number of cleaning processes.

The inventive method is suitable, for example, for all water-bearing systems, such as Kühlwasseran location, evaporators and the like. The products according to the invention do not lose their effect even at higher temperatures.

One of the possible areas of application for the products mentioned is their use in alkaline cleaning solutions. Their use is particularly advantageous, for example, in automatically operating bottle washers or for cleaning tanks and containers. In this case, especially when rinsing with water, i.e. in the stage of the cleaning process in which only traces of the cleaning agent are left, which are diluted with a lot of water and rinsed out, stone separation easily occurs. This stone deposition is prevented with small amounts (inoculation amounts) of the mixtures according to the invention which are present in the Nachspülö solution. In those cases in which it is necessary, a small additional dose can be made in the areas particularly endangered by stone separation.

The products can be worked into both solid and liquid cleaners. A suitable cleaner can, for example, have the following composition: 35.0% sodium silicate, 3.0% product according to the invention, 20.0% soda, 17.0% caustic soda, 5.0% wetting agent, 10.0% sodium sulfate and 10 , 0% trisodium monophosphate. 1% aqueous solutions of the mixture can be used to clean the milk can.
