There are many winding machines, particularly machines for winding very fine son, the diameter of which may be of the order of ten microns. None of these machines allows fully automatic operation and the worker must in particular take the wire to place it properly at the start of winding each spool. It is obvious that such a procedure is excessively slow and therefore expensive, particularly when winding fine threads which are hardly visible and which break easily.
The aim of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks by producing a fully automatic winding machine.
The present invention relates to a winding method and a winding machine comprising a rotating spindle and a counter-spindle, a yarn guide whose longitudinal position is slaved to the rotation of the spindle, as well as a digital control controlling everything. the machine cycle.
In a particular embodiment of the machine, the characteristics of a device for controlling a linear displacement as a function of a rotary displacement described in particular in French patent N 7006159 are used.
The winding method according to the invention is distinguished by the fact that the wire to be wound is continuously kept under tension between a supply spool and a device for clamping the wire carried by the spindle; that we make a complete turn of the spindle while the thread guide is in an extreme position on the side of this spindle in order to position the first turn of the spool correctly:
that the spindle is driven in rotation for a number of turns corresponding to the number of turns of the spool, the thread guide moving in a reciprocating movement slaved to the rotation of the spindle; that the wire clamping device is opened; when the yarn guide is in the extreme position on the side of the spindle, a turn of this spindle is carried out to place a new portion of yarn in the clamping device and in doing so that the portion of leading yarn is extracted simultaneously at the first turn of the coil; that the wire clamping device is closed and simultaneously cuts the end of the wire coming from the last turn of the spool and finally that the finished spool is ejected.
Another subject of the invention is a winding machine for implementing the automatic winding method described which comprises a rotating spindle and a counter-spindle, a motor for driving the rotating spindle, a yarn guide movable in a linear reciprocating movement parallel to the axis of the spindle and whose movement is slaved to the rotation of the spindle as well as a digital control of the cycle of the winding machine, characterized by the fact that it comprises mounted on the spindle a device for pinching the wire to be wound as well as a device for severing this wire and by the fact that it also comprises, also mounted on the spindle, a cam causing during its joint rotation with the spindle and when the wire is in a corresponding axial position with respect to the spindle, the introduction of this wire into the clamping device thereof.
The drawing illustrates schematically and by way of example certain parts of an embodiment of the winding machine according to the invention.

It should be noted that most often in the manufacture of miniaturized coils using wire ranging from ten microns to several tens of microns in diameter, it is a question of making self-supporting coils, that is to say without a body. nor flanks. This can be obtained by carrying out the hot winding because these wires are provided with a thin layer of thermoplastic material which allows the turns to be bonded to each other to form a rigid coil without support.
To eliminate the handling consisting in having to pick up the wire by hand between each reel in order to start a new reel, it was necessary to develop a device for guiding, pinching and cutting the wire allowing the same operation to be carried out automatically.
The automatic winding process therefore mainly consists in keeping the wire continuously under tension, whether it is between the spool being wound and the supply spool, or between the latter and a clamping device.
This process comprises in particular the following operations:
1. Pinching the wire in a pinch device mounted on the spindle to keep the wire under tension.
While the thread guide is in the extreme winding position towards the spindle, turn the spindle and counter spindle one turn. Thus the first turn is applied against the cheek of the spindle and its correct position is ensured.
3. The actual winding by the rotation of the spindle and the counter-spindle together with the back and forth movement of the thread guide which is slaved to the rotation of the spindle. Thus the coil is formed on a core of the counter spindle and between the cheeks of the spindle and the counter spindle. The number of turns of the spindle corresponds to the number of turns of the coil.
4. The movement to the extreme position of the winding of the thread guide in the direction of the spindle, then by the subsequent movement of this thread guide in the direction of the spindle, the opening of the thread clamping device. Note that this releases the input wire from the spool but that the wire to be wound remains under tension between the last turn of the spool and the supply spool.
5. The rotation of one turn of the spindle which causes the introduction of a new portion of wire into the clamping device and simultaneously, using a lug carried by the wire guide, the extraction of the portion of wire, leading to the first turn of the spool and which was previously held by the clamping device.
6. Return to the extreme winding position, in the direction of the spindle, of the thread guide causing the closure of the thread pinching device. This closure simultaneously causes, using a knife, the cutting of the wire between the last turn of the spool made and the wire clamping device. Thus the coil produced is separated from the wire to be wound.
7. The ejection of the reel which here is carried out by the withdrawal of the counter-spindle and its core as well as by an ejection nozzle ensuring that this extraction is carried out even if the reel sticks against the cheek of the counter-spindle. brooch.
8. Return to winding position of the counter-spindle and its core.
The cycle thus continues with operation 2 mentioned above.
Thus, a fully automatic winding cycle was achieved without any manual intervention, which was the desired goal.
The winding machine comprises a base I on which the various elements of the machine are mounted. electronic tale causing, following a determined sequence, the
different operations of the winding cycle. This command makes
use of classic design and elements and will not be described
here.
The spindle ends with a cheek 9 whose central hole 10
is intended to receive the core 5 of the counter-spindle. When the core 5 is in the winding position, introduced into the bore 10, it is coupled to the spindle using a pin 11 which is housed in its end slot 12. In this position, the cheeks 6 and 9 of the counter -pins and pins define the length of the spool to be made. The cheek 9 of the spindle also comprises a groove 13 for introducing the wire making it possible to bring the wire to be wound up to the core 5 to form the first turn without subsequently hindering the formation of the spool and particularly the flatness of its flank in contact with the cheek 9 of the spindle.
The cheek 9 is integral with a cam 14 for introducing the wire into a clamping device thereof. This cam is in the form of a plate of generally circular shape provided with a notch 15 defining a spout 16.
An axially sliding sleeve 17 on the spindle is guided by pins 18, 19, 20 and subjected to the action of a spring tending to move it against the rear face of the cam 14. The front face of this sleeve 17 defines with the rear face of the cam 14 has a slot of variable thickness. The front face of this sliding sleeve 17 comprises, located between the pins 19 and 20, a clamping pad 21 intended to come into contact with the rear face of the cam 14 and to clamp the wire to be wound. This front face of the sleeve 17 also has a knife 22, located between the pins 18 and 19, intended to cut the wire by abutting against the rear face of the cam 14. The edge of this knife 22 is however set back relative to on the front face of the buffer 21, made of elastic material, when the latter is not compressed.
In this way, when the sleeve 17 is brought closer to the cam 14, the wire is first pinched by the buffer 21 before being cut by the knife 22. The pins 18, 19 and 20 define supports for the wire coming from s 'wrap around them. The last pin 20 is provided with a helical slot 23 making it possible to guide the wire through a notch 24 of the cam 14 in order to make the wire come out between this cam and the sleeve.
When a spool is finished, the thread f1 coming out of the last wound coil and coming from the supply spool 8 is moved to the left (fig. 4) by the thread guide beyond its extreme left winding position, from so as to be applied against the cheek 9 then to extend beyond the plane defined by the cam 14.
In this position the thread guide moves the sleeve 17 so as to release the thread.
The wire f2 coming from the first central turn of the spool passes into the helical groove 23 of the pin 20, passes beyond the cam 14 through its notch 24 but is no longer clamped between the rear face of this cam and the buffer 21.
When the yarn guide is in this end of winding position, an extractor 25, integral with this yarn guide, is placed in the path of the portion of yarn f2.
During the rotation of one revolution of the spindle provided for in operation 5 of the winding process, the extractor 23 releases the wire f2 between the cam 14 and the sleeve 17 and the wire f1 passing through the notch 15 is introduced between the sleeve 17 and the cam 14. This wire fi comes to rest on the pins 18 to 20 and is located to the right of the pinch buffer 21 and of the knife 22.
When the thread guide returns to the start of winding position, the thread f1 takes the place of the thread F2, guided by the groove 23 and comes to be housed in the groove 13 of the cheek 9.
At the same time, the sleeve 17 returns in the direction of the cam 14 causing first the pinching of the thread by the elastic buffer 21 then its severing by the knife 22. The thread is therefore always kept under tension and it is ready for the winding of a new coil.
This new winding can take place once the extraction of the made reel has been carried out. To do this, the counter-spindle moves to the right (fig. 5) separating the spool made of the cheek 9 from the spindle, then the core 5 and retracted inside the counter-spindle and finally an ejection lever 26 drives out the coil which may possibly stick against the cheek 6 of the counter-spindle. These movements of the counter spindle are controlled by the digital control pneumatically, mechanically or hydraulically.
It should also be noted that the spacing of the two tips of the thread guide must be determined with great accuracy. Indeed for a good winding it is necessary that the wire has as little play as possible in its guide however with the wire of a few microns in diameter it is necessary to avoid any jamming which would cause it to break.
To do this, and not being able to accurately measure a slot of a few microns, the faces of the tips of the thread guide are machined so that they are perfectly flat. Then these faces being held against each other, a hole is drilled centered on the slot between the two nozzles, the dimension of which is exact but of an easily measurable dimension, for example 2 to 3 mm. Then, in order to define the spacing between the spouts, a pin or a wedge is placed in this bore, the external dimension of which is equal to that of the bore increased by the distance between the spout desired. It is therefore easy to measure a 2.012 mm shim to ensure, for example, the free passage of an 11 micron wire between the tips of the wire guide.
To be able to produce spools very precisely, the wire must be guided as close as possible to the spool. This is achieved by approaching, during winding, the thread guide in the direction of the axis of the spindle.
