Abstract
A polyphase galvanising plant for anodising workpieces made of aluminium or an aluminium alloy uses negative as well as positive current pulses in turn, after a polyphase mains supply current has been transformed to a current with a higher number of phases. The supplies are so adjusted that the ratio of average negative current to the average positive current lies between 3% and 20%. The frequency of these positive and negative pulses is held between 2 and 20 pulses per sec. This produces thick, high-quality and hard coatings which are easy to paint. The set values are automatically maintained when the voltages or resistances fluctuate. The full current density can be applied from the start without risk of burn marks. The galvanising throughput is high.
