Abstract

The character printer is used to print the computer output data on an endless paper web, which is perforated along each side edge, the data being arranged in rows and columns running across or along the paper web. To allow the data to be printed in the latter two ways, the printer employs interchangeable character types, or two kinds of character matrices, for point printing of the data characters. Pref. the printer has a central control circuit connected to the computer interface, the latter also connected to a character buffer store, in turn connected to a print character circuit, and to a positioning circuit. The central control circuit, the character buffer store, the print character circuit and the positioning circuit are all connected to a clock source.
