Abstract

In a false twisting unit consisting in known manner of a body traversed by a cylindrical channel round which is located a first cavity connected to it via tangential blow holes, and connected to a source of compressed air by a radial bore so that a rotating column of air is set up in the cylindrical channel, the improvement whereby the body is provided with a second transverse bore connected with the cylindrical channel in such a way that liq. can be introduced at the location, or in the immediate vicinity of the opening of the tangential blow orifices in the channel. More esp. the second transverse (radial) bore opens into a second cavity surrounding the cylindrical channel and connected thereto via tangential feed pipes. Provides a practical compromise between the mutually contradictory requirements arising in the mfe. of twist free yarn, namely the moistening of the fibre strip after false twisting and the retention of sufficient strength in the strip. Used partic. in the gumming of the yarn and the application of dyestuff to a twisted yarn, which is false twisted in the opposite direction to permit addn. of dyestuff while the yarn is untwisted in the false twist unit.
