Abstract
The diameter (0) is determined of the cylindrical part, collet or arbor of the balance, which will clamp the inner end part of the hairspring, through the formula: <IMAGE> where d is the internal diameter of manufacture of the hairspring, p is the pitch of the hairspring, and e is the thickness of the hairspring. The main spring-winding hook may or may not be cut before fixing. This method enables hairsprings to be fixed through a loop closed at their inner end whilst ensuring an accurate start point for the hairspring and, consequently, correct running.
