Abstract

The joint consists of an annular cavity, basically triangular in cross-section, between the casing base (9) and the glass carrier (1). The mating surfaces (12,13) extending from the triangle apex are set at 15 degrees to the casing vertical axis, the thickness of metal of the base at this region (8) being small enough to have sufficient elasticity to allow the glass carrier to snap over it. The 'O' ring is sufficiently deformed to provide the required sealing.
